Episode 183 - October 15, 2014
Nick Webb: BWF makes history tonight - for the first time in eleven years, we are live in EGYPT! We're hanging out with the Pharaohs of old tonight at the Cairo Stadium Complex in Cairo, Egypt and we've got a hell of an event for the fans in store tonight!
Rayne: Just two weeks after losing her Sovereign Title and suffering the first loss in her career, Zoe Cooper will team up with Kristy Jackson and Omen IV to battle the man who ended Zoe's streak, Fenryr Wulfsson and his partners, The Rejects! My lovely future ex-wife Lizzie D. will be in battle against some angry little brunette chick, Gabe Shelley faces off against 'The Miscreant' Blake Myles and a new #1 Contender to the Sovereign Title will be named, as Jay Blazenwing faces Van Biafra!
Nick Webb: And that match, Rayne, starts right now!
Mentor
"White Flag Riot" by Odonis Odonis cues up over the p.a. system. While the fans have been conditioned to expect Van Biafra when they hear this song they get a lot more than that. A tall, athletic man in a three piece suit sporting glasses steps out onto the stage.
Nick Webb: I know him, that's the owner of the The Orphanage, a wrestling school based out of Baltimore. His name is Ellis Straker.
Rayne: The Orphanage? What a horrible name. No one likes orphans.
Straker casually steps aside and Biafra appears from behind the curtain. The duo make their way to the ring with Straker leading the way. They get up onto the apron, with Straker taking the stairs and Biafra leaping up from ringside. Straker sits on the middle rope and he holds it open for Biafra. The music begins to die down as Straker takes hold of a microphone
Ellis Straker: At this point in the program we require silence. Havok enthusiasts, you are now being introduced to Ellis Straker. I am the advocate for Van Biafra. For all intents and purposes you can refer to me as the man behind the curtain.
A beat.
Ellis Straker: Some time ago I sought out Mr. Biafra and offered him the opportunity to learn the art of wrestling at The Orphanage, my wrestling academy. There, he cultivated the necessary skills to take the professional wrestling world by its proverbial throat.
A small cheer rises up from the Biafra sections in the crowd.
Ellis Straker: As skilled as Mr. Biafra is between the ropes he lacks the verbiage and business savvy to take full advantage of his extensive skill set. With a compatriot such as myself Mr. Biafra will be able to reach the heights that he most certainly deserves to reach. That being said, I am standing before all of you tonight to announce that Mr. Biafra is going to be the next Sovereign Champion of this great organization.
More cheers rise up as many fans have been pining to see Biafra take the next step in his career.
Ellis Straker: He has all of the tools to one day reach the Hall of Fame but to do that he must begin collecting accolades. Not only is he undefeated in his time here but none of his opponents have been able to provide competition. Each victory has been very decisive.
Biafra smirks but only for a moment.
Ellis Straker: That trend continues tonight when Mr. Biafra lights up Young Blazenwing. And he will continue to do things as he has been doing...
The crowd waits for it.
Ellis Straker: ...with honor.
With that the duo stands by, waiting for the start of the night's first match.
Jay Blazenwing begins making his way to the ring for tonight's opening contest, Van Biafra already waiting in the ring. "Jay Blaze" makes it about halfway down the ramp, high fiving fans, when one of them suddenly rails forward, cracking him across the skull with a Singapore cane! The hooded figure jumps over the barricade and security quickly rushes to get him away, but when the hoodie is pulled off, the figure is revealed to be... Logan Havoc!
Nick Webb: What in the world?
Rayne: I think Jay just got Blazed! HA!
Van stands his ground in the ring, motioning for Havoc to take a shot at him, but Logan backs up until he reaches the stage. He shouts that "nobody is going to get a shot at the Sovereign Title but him", and that he's "waited too long to get the real shot he deserves". Before heading backstage, Logan rushes forward, curb stomping the rising Blazenwing's head onto the ramp. Van watches on, Ellis Straker standing by at ringside telling him to hold his position.
WINNER: None (Match Never Started)
All About Being the Best
The camera cuts to the backstage area where Gabe Shelley is standing backstage alongside Don McMichael as the fans pop for the BWF Hall of Famer. Gabe starts to smile and shakes Don’s hand.
Don McMichael: Ladies and gentlemen, I’m standing here with the Hall of Famer Gabe Shelley who is scheduled to take on newcomer Blake Myles. Gabe, you’ve had a couple weeks to get adjusted to being on Havok now, how are you feeling?
Gabe Shelley: Well it feels great to be here in beautiful Cairo.
There’s a cheap pop as Gabe smiles.
Gabe Shelley: Had to. It really is an adjustment here on Havok because, well, things are a mess right now and it’s so fitting. When I came over to Havok I was unsure of what I was getting myself into. I had just come off the disappointing loss to Johnny Maverick due to AJ Adams getting involved and came to a show where Emily Corlen is ruling with an iron fist. It’s nothing I’m not used to, I’ve known David Blazenwing for many years and have seen the same thing out of him as we are with Emily. The World Title scene already had its players so I wasn’t sure as to what would happen. Zoe Cooper is one hell of a competitor, Emily Corlen is wanting the title in the hands of Alli Taylor, and I’m coming in off a loss. Then I get lucky and in walks AJ Adams.
The crowd starts to boo as Gabe pauses for a moment and continues.
Gabe Shelley: And there is unfinished business with AJ. Most people don’t know that I’ve actually known AJ for many years now, all the way back to the original TGW. When TGW launched I happened to be living in San Diego and retired so I worked part time as a trainer and would work with him from time to time. I’ve watched AJ grow from what a lot of us thought was going to be a nobody to a former World Champion. Tonight is all about taking on Blake Myles but I know that a crossroads of myself and AJ isn’t far off. Tonight is going to be about taking on a new kid that really seems to have a few screws loose from what I’ve read of him. Reading means nothing though and I know as well as anyone that you shouldn’t count someone out. I made a living off of proving people wrong and that’s what Blake is going to be trying to do here tonight. Walking into Havok, the flagship show of BWF, taking on the only 3 time BWF World Champion and a Hall of Fame inductee is one hell of a chance to make a splash.
Don McMichael: How are you physically?
Gabe Shelley: Good. Admittedly I was a little worried when I came back to compete in Hellbound but I feel that I’ve really got back into the swing of things and the sores and aches don’t feel as sore and achy for as long after matches and that’s not good for Blake Myles. That’s not good for anyone on the Havok roster because I’m here to compete. I’m not here to be a flash in the pan guy making a quick comeback for a few bucks. I’m here to compete at a high level and eventually hold the BWF World Championship once again. Last week I teamed with a Blazenwing, something I’m no stranger to, and now, this week, it’s all about singles action. It’s all about being the best.
Gabe fist bumps Don and walks off screen.
The match kicks off with an enraged Alli Taylor putting former BWF World Champion Elizabeth Davis on the defensive, no doubt blaming her for their team's loss last week, despite the fact that Alli was the one who got pinned. Liz does her best to counter, but Alli lets loose, culminating her ferocious assault with the Jersey Cutter (Twist of Fate)...
Nick Webb: This is it!
Rayne: NO! SHE COUNTERED! Thatta girl, Lizzie!
...but Liz pushes her away and into the ropes! When Taylor turns back around and charges at Liz again, Davis leaps up and spins, catching her foe between the eyes with the Clock Strikes Midnight (Trouble in Paradise)! The crowd pops (apparently deciding to side with Liz over Alli tonight) and Davis covers for the 1, 2, 3!
WINNER: Elizabeth Davis, via Pinfall
After the match, Liz celebrates, mocking Alli with fake crying motions as the former #1 Contender's free-fall grows with each passing week.
Nick Webb: That win has to put Liz on the short list of contenders for the forthcoming "Corlen's Choice" BWF World Title Match at Gauntlet Run.
Rayne: If Emily is smart and she really wants to see that title gone from Zoe Cooper's waist, Elizabeth Davis is the way to go! Vote Davis! Woo hoo!
#Besties
Rune Sigidottir walks through the arena, carrying two cups of some sort of beverage. She is dressed more conservatively now than she normally does, wearing a long dress. Her hair is in a ponytail instead of the usual wild and free, windblown mane she usually has. She approaches a door marked “E. Corlen” and, using her elbow, turns the handle to walk into the room. She sets the two drinks on the desk, and sits across from Emily.
Rune Sigidottir: Here, Emily. I read that the coffee was actually pretty good here so I went and bought myself one. I got one for you too, since we're BFFs now. Also, I wanted to thank you personally for giving Fenryr a shot at the Sovereign Championship Title. He's very pleased. We both are.
Rune takes a quick sip of her coffee.
Rune Sigidottir: Ooh! It's still a little warm. Be careful!
There is a moment of silence.
Rune Sigidottir: I may have burned my tongue a little bit, there.
Emily, meanwhile, looks up from the desk, slightly confused.
Emily Corlen: Who are you, and why are you barging into my office?
She glances at the door.
Emily Corlen: Ever think it was closed for a reason? I don't do autographs.
She looks back at her papers, then back up at Rune when she realizes she's still there.
Emily Corlen: What, are you an idiot? ME... NO... LIKE... FANS. YOU... GO... NOW. YES?
Clearly, Emily either has no idea who Rune is, or (as is more likely) she simply doesn't care.
Rune Sigidottir: Emily... it's me, Rune Sigidottir? Fenryr's manager? We helped you last show with your Zoe Cooper problem. We have the Sovereign Title, now?
Rune looks hurt that Emily could possibly not remember her.
Rune Sigidottir: Uh...he's the big guy?
Emily Corlen: Oh, right. Bigguns.
She laughs softly at her own bad joke.
Emily Corlen: What do you want, exactly?
Rune Sigidottir: Nothing really. I just thought you'd like some coffee so I brought you some. Plus, I wanted to chat with my new bestie before our main event match tonight against Zoe, Omen, and Kristy. And they call Fenryr's partners "The Rejects"?
Rune laughs at her own joke.
Rune Sigidottir: That's pretty funny.
She takes a cautious sip of her coffee.
Rune Sigidottir: So, do you need anything else from Fenryr and I tonight? Just say the word, we'll make it happen.
Emily Corlen: Hang on... bestie?
She raises her eyebrow, finally understanding just what is going on.
Emily Corlen: Ah.
With that, Emily stands up and purses her lips in Rune's direction.
Emily Corlen: Sweetie, I think you may have misunderstood what exactly happened two weeks ago. You see... I could care less about you or that big gorilla you brought into BWF. All I care about is making Zoe Cooper's life a living hell, and in Mexico City, that was accomplished. Fenryr only got that spot, that match, because he was the biggest guy I could find in the back. Don't mistake my blind hatred for one individual as a showcase of friendship or allegiance. Your monster brought down Zoe, and for that, I thank you. But, in case you hadn't figured it out by now... your services are no longer required. Be gone...
She pauses as she studies Rune up and down for just a moment.
Emily Corlen: ...and don't make me regret giving your client the spotlight. Emily giveth... and she will damn well taketh away.
The C.E.O. sits back down and smirks, going back to her paperwork. Her attention is no longer on the woman standing in front of her. Rune stands in the office for a moment. She looks like she's about to say something, but turns to leave instead.
Rune Sigidottir: I...see. Oh, and you can keep the coffee.
She quickly walks out of the office. Once outside, she takes a couple of deep breaths and walks to Fenryr's dressing room, muttering to herself. She opens the door there and walks in. Fenryr looks up at her.
Fenryr Wulfsson: Oh, jeez. What's going on now. And why are you crying?
Rune Sigidottir: Nothing. Really. We just need to discuss Emily Corlen.
Rune slams the door on the cameraman as Havok fades to commercial.
The match begins, surprisingly, with newcomer Blake Myles taking control of the match, no doubt hoping to make up for his loss two weeks ago. He works determinedly on the neck and shoulder area of Gabe, using the ropes and whatever else he can for additional leverage, much to the referee's chagrin. Blake holds the former four-time World Champion in his power for a large part of the match, but as he tries to put Gabe in a camel clutch, the BWF Hall of Famer has had enough and fights his way out of it, getting back to his feet before bringing Blake down with a huge DDT that leaves both men laid out on the canvas!
Nick Webb: What a DDT from Gabe Shelley! The Miscreant's eyes look glazed over!
Rayne: The kid got too laser focused and it looks like Gabe might finally be ready to take advantage. It's the Homer Simpson boxing strategy - let your opponent hit you with everything they've got, let them wear themselves out, and then POW! Right in the kisser!
The DDT has indeed rocked Blake hard, as Gabe makes his way to his feet first, despite taking much more punishment in this match thus far. Staggered but not beaten, Shelley immediately takes the fight to Blake, driving several right hands to the temple and kicks to the sides of the hunched over Miscreant, driving him back down onto the mat. With Blake down, Gabe makes his way to the apron, jumps up and hits him with the I'm a Bird, Mother F**ker! (Springboard Leg Drop) for a close 2 count. He picks Blake back up, sets him up and hits him with The reVolt (Cradle Shock), then goes for another cover - 1, 2, 3! This time, the marVel is victorious!
WINNER: Gabe Shelley, via Pinfall
After the match, Gabe rolls out of the ring, reaching for his signature Sharpie marker and autographs the nearest camera. He makes his way up the ramp, smiling, and motions for the title around his waist - perhaps a signal that he, too, wishes to be considered for the title match at Gauntlet Run.
Nick Webb: I'm pretty sure Gabe just put his name in the hat for the big title match!
Rayne: 3-Time BWF World Champ, 1-Time Crisis World Champ, Hall of Famer, not to mention history with the C.E.O. as Tag Team Champs years ago in eWo... it wouldn't shock me one bit to see Gabe get the title shot, not if Emily's goal is to see Cooper lose the belt!
Nick Webb: And speaking of Zoe Cooper, she's in action right after this break, as she teams with Kristy Jackson and Omen IV to take on the team of the new Sovereign Champion Fenryr Wulfsson and The Rejects! Can Zoe Cooper redeem herself just two weeks after suffering her first BWF loss, or has the C.E.O. finally discovered Cooper's Kryptonite? Don't go anywhere! Your main event is NEXT!

“Lights Out” by P.O.D. starts to play throughout the arena as the fans start to boo as the unscheduled AJ Adams’ music starts to play. After about a minute the music dies down and there’s a long pause as the fans seem confused before it queues right back up from the start and the screen starts to static and AJ Adams appears on the screen, tapping the lens.
AJ Adams: Is this thing on?
“Live via satellite” sits in the corner of the BlazenTron as AJ Adams clears his throat and starts to talk over the boos.
AJ Adams: By now you may have realized I am fact and NOT in Cairo and nor do I plan to be tonight. I’m not sure why BWF is even in such an awful country to begin with. I can make a list of reasons as to why it seems like an idiotic idea but how about I just say the all of Africa seems like an awful place to be due to I like being alive.
Boos grow louder as Adams just keeps talking.
AJ Adams: Now there’s questions as to why I was traded to Havok and some would have you believe that it’s because I was upset over a loss? Please. Nope. In fact, it’s because I’m here to be the best. Havok has always been the best and I said the same thing the last time that BWF went through its little brand split. To top it off I want to beat Gabe Shelley. I want to beat your hero, BWF. I want to be the guy that ends the career of the greatest BWF superstar of all time.
Adams starts to get worked up and heated as he talks.
AJ Adams: It was bogus that Gabe was traded just when I had him in my crosshairs but now I have him right where I want him. I am more than prepared to take down the hero of BWF and tear through Havok on my way. Havok, Gabe, be prepared.
Adams puts his hand over the lens as the screen goes black.
As the match begins, Fenryr and Zoe start the match for their respective teams. Zoe gets in Fenryr's face in an attempt to show him that she isn't afraid of him. Fenryr smirks, and then takes a step back and tags in Allen Chaney.
Nick Webb: That's a surprise. Is the man who handed Zoe Cooper her only BWF loss backing down from a fair fight with the World Champion?
Allen shrugs and enters the ring, ready to tie up with Cooper. Fenryr exits the ring, but instead of stopping on the apron, he hops down to the arena floor and walks over to his manager, Rune. They start a brief discussion while Allen and Zoe jockey for position against one another, with Allen using his size to his advantage over his smaller foe. Just as Allen goes behind Zoe into a waist lock, Fenryr explodes from where he's standing, yanking his own partner, Spyke, off of the apron. In one swift move, Spyke lands on Fenryr's shoulders and the Sovereign Champion drops the Green Haired Gaijin onto the arena floor with a Samoan drop! The crowd pops at this unexpected turn of events as Fenryr pops back up to his feet, roaring in defiance.
Rayne: WHAT!?
Nick Webb: What in the world!?
In the ring, Allen drops the waist lock and can't believe what he's seeing. He yells at Fenryr, who simply stands there, staring back at him. As Allen yells at Fenryr, trying to figure out what the hell is going on, Rune pops up next to her client and points at the ring. Allen turns around... right into the Face Replacer (Running Knee) from Zoe! Zoe heads over to her corner and tags in Kristy Jackson, who heads to the top rope and hits Allen with the Suicide Attack (Swanton Bomb). She follows this up by tagging in Omen, who also heads to the top and hits his own El Mal Presagio (450 Backflip Corkscrew to Senton) onto Allen! With Spyke still down on the outside and Fenryr clearly not intending to aid his "partner", there's nobody to break up the pin when Omen hooks Allen's leg. 1! 2! 3!
WINNERS: Zoe Cooper, Kristy Jackson & Omen IV, via Pinfall
After the match, Fenryr and Rune start making their way up the ramp as Kristy and Omen celebrate in the ring. Zoe exits the ring and catches up with Fenryr and Rune, stopping them and offering her hand to Fenryr in gratitude. Fenryr brushes her off, leaning down and saying "This has nothing to do with you. Nobody makes her cry. Nobody." as he points at Rune. They continue up the ramp as Zoe shrugs and says "I'll take it!", then heads back to the ring to celebrate the main event victory with her partners.
Nick Webb: I think I heard Fenryr say "Nobody makes her cry" to Zoe... it sounds like Fenryr and Rune ruined Emily Corlen's main event after the C.E.O. upset Rune earlier tonight!
Rayne: Chalk up that decision to career suicide. Goodbye, Fenryr, we hardly knew ya!
Nick Webb: Indeed, given her fragile mindset as of late, going out of your way to provoke our spiteful C.E.O., probably not the best idea. But, alas, what is done is done, and if anybody can survive whatever the boss throws at him, it would probably be someone who looks and acts like our Sovereign Champion.
Rayne: I'd still do the manager, Ruby whatsername.
Nick Webb: Rune, and dear god, don't let Fenryr hear you say that.
Rayne: Why not? Her, me and Lizzie in a three way!
Nick Webb: Bedroom Match?
Rayne: I like the way you think, buddy! HA!
Nick Webb: ANYWAY... that's it for us here tonight on Havok. Don't forget to tune into an all-new episode of Crisis next week, and don't miss Gauntlet Run, November 12 only on pay-per-view! For Rayne, I'm Nick Webb... good night from Cairo! We'll see you in two weeks for an all-new Havok!
We see one final shot of Zoe Cooper, Kristy Jackson and Omen IV celebrating in the ring, before the show fades to the BWF logo, and then finally to black.
