Episode 149 - June 10, 2013
Nick Webb: Monday Night Havok is live from the Key Arena in Seattle, Washington! We are just two weeks removed from a stellar Happenstance that saw a new Monarch crowned, in addition to new Tag Team Champions and a new BWF World Champion!
Rayne: And all of those competitors will be in action tonight; the new Tag Champs, Rudy Rudo and Logan Avery will take on the makeshift duo of Isaiah Mercier and Derrick Daze, the new BWF World Champion Kyle Cross will face Edwin Kerrigan, and in the main event, the 2013 Happenstance Queen Elena Simonova will defend her Sovereign Title against the #1 Contender to that title, "Godless" Flynn McLoughlin!
Nick Webb: But right now, it's time for a patented BWF Double Debut... Catness versus Catherine Jewel!
The bell rings and Catness pounces Jewel down to the mat, throwing rapid left and right hands at her face. Jewel pushes her off only to receive a kick to the outside part of her knee joint, rolling in pain. Catness smiles and makes her way over to Jewel, extending a hand towards her in assistance. Confused, Jewel accepts the help and is pulled onto her feet, but in an unexpected twist Catness nails her with the Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey Kick (Pele Kick)! Jewel falls straight to the mat after the blow makes impact and Catness goes for the cover. The referee counts 1, 2, 3, and just like that, the match is already over!
WINNER: Catness, via Pinfall
"Sail" by AWOLNATION plays from the PA system and Catness bounces up, victorious in her debut match here in the BWF. The referee raises her hand high and she grins, performing jumping jacks as the crowd cheers with strange approval.
Nick Webb: Wow! I don't think that was even a whole minute from start to finish.
Rayne: It took hardly any effort from Catness! She's got some weird spunk in her... and I like it!
Nick Webb: She has certainly made quite an impression in this double-debut match. Coming up next, the runner-up of the Happenstance Tournament, Nessa Wall, faces off against new BWF wrestler Lautaro Pérez!
Rayne: Ooh baby, baby, bring on the BOUNCE!
The fans come to their feet as "She's a Genius" by Jet hits the BlazenTron, but nobody comes out. After a few moments, the Owner of the BWF, Emily Corlen, walks out in Nessa's place. The crowd still cheers, but not as loud as they might have for Emily normally, simply because they were excited to see Nessa. The music fades out and Emily holds up the microphone she carried out with her.
Emily Corlen: I'm sorry, folks. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the scheduled match tonight between Nessa Wall and Lautaro Pérez will not be taking place.
Nick Webb: Oh, no. I wonder what happened?
Emily Corlen: Here's the deal. Apparently, Nessa felt as though she was getting a raw deal here in BWF. Frankly, she impressed the hell out of me, even if she believes she tanked. Coming within an eyelash of beating AJ Adams in her second ever match with the company, only to lose because Adams cheated? Nearly winning the Happenstance Tournament, including taking out a very game Isaiah Mercier at the pay-per-view itself? Let's also not forget that it took the winner, Elena Simonova, three of her most powerful moves in a row to keep Nessa down for the three count. She was resilient, tough, and had one hell of a future here in BWF.
Emily pauses, a sad, almost betrayed frown crossing her face.
Emily Corlen: But, apparently, since she didn't show up in BWF and immediately dominate everybody and everything, she was unhappy, as evidenced by some of the glowing comments she had to share with the world regarding myself and BWF on Twitter. I mean, I fail to see how that's on me; SHE'S the one who lost her matches, but whatever. She was offended that Godless got a title shot at Elena tonight over her, ignoring the fact that Godless earned that shot fair and square over a month ago at Danger Zone. She was insulted that she wasn't closer to the main event tonight, like card placement really matters. I've opened plenty of shows in my day, even when I was World Champion of PWA, TGW, and so on; it doesn't mean jack in the long run. Yeah, we all want to be the main event, but you get that spot by earning it... by showing up and doing what is asked of you, not taking your ball and going home the minute you're not the spotlight of the entire company.
Emily sighs loudly, stopping to collect herself.
Emily Corlen: Whatever. It's all in the past, now. Over the weekend, Nessa faxed over a release request from her BWF contract. She is now gone from the company, and as such, will not be competing tonight or ever again for this organization.
The crowd boos loudly.
Emily Corlen: I know! I feel the same way! I spent MONTHS courting her, trying to get her to sign with the BWF, and... you know, I guess it wasn't worth it. I do my best to bring BWF the greatest talent from around the world, but ultimately, not every talented individual is a fit with BWF. I'm mostly just disappointed that I let all of you fans down. I know Nessa was a popular competitor and I feel guilty that you're the ones who ultimately have to pay the price for her unsatisfaction. I'm sorry, everybody. I tried to make things work between Nessa and BWF, I really did.
Emily hangs her head dejectedly. After a few moments, she looks up.
Emily Corlen: As for her opponent tonight, Lautaro Pérez? If any of you have seen him, please let me know. He apparently dropped off the face of the planet the day after he signed his contract. BWF can't rely on performers who don't even show up to wrestle, so it is with great disappointment that I have to announce that in addition to Nessa's release, Lautaro Pérez is also being released from his BWF contract effective immediately. I wish both Nessa and Lautaro all the best in their future endeavors.
With that, Emily turns and walks back through the curtain, sans music, as the crowd murmurs and a small "We want Nessa!" chant picks up.
Nick Webb: That's a tough break. You can't please everybody.
Rayne: I'm more stuck on why Nessa left in the first place! She actually said on Twitter that she was, quote, "basically curtain jerking against a new dude" this week and made a reference to being relegated to midcard hell. I mean... she was still new to BWF! What did she expect, to skip ahead of everybody else busting their asses simply because she felt she deserved it more?
Nick Webb: Who knows. It's a sad situation, she really did have talent. Unfortunately, as we've both seen many times before, egos can easily ruin careers.
Rayne: Hopefully, she'll find a company that reveres her the way she apparently expects to be revered.
Nick Webb: Yes, I agree. Folks, don't let this news get you down. We've still got plenty of great BWF action heading your way tonight, including the NEW BWF World Champion, Kyle Cross, in action against Edwin Kerrigan, the 2013 Happenstance Queen Elena Simonova defending the Sovereign Title against Godless and much, much more! Don't change that channel!
The bell rings to start the match and both Ian and Toco circle one another. Toco goes in for a collar and elbow tie-up, but Ian catches him with an eye poke, sending Toco stumbling back into the ropes. The referee scolds Ian, who holds his hands up and insists he did nothing wrong. While the referee is dealing with Ian, Funk Dogg jumps onto the apron and grabs Toco by the head before jumping off the apron, pulling Toco down on the ropes hard with a modified neckbreaker. The crowd boos loudly as Toco slingshots back into the ring and hits the mat. The ref turns to Funk Dogg, who shrugs innocently.
Nick Webb: Come on, that was blatant cheating!
Rayne: Not if the ref didn't see it! HA!
With the opening, Ian runs to the ropes and comes back and hits Toco with a running punt to his head. The crowd utters a loud "ooh" as Ian then continues to work on Toco's neck and head, finally leading to the referee pulling him away. The ref checks on Toco, but Ian shoves him out of the way (nearly getting himself DQ'ed) before dragging Toco a few feet towards the center of the ring (with some difficulty) before slapping in the Heretic's Fork (Crooked Head Scissor Lock). Toco is motionless (and has been for some time) and Ian applies more and more pressure by the second. The ref drops to a knee and checks Toco's arm. It drops once... twice... three times. The ref calls for the bell as the crowd boos louder.
WINNER: Emperor Ian, via Submission
"Imperial March" by John Williams hits the BlazenTron as Emperor Ian finally releases the hold and stands up. Funk Dogg climbs into the ring and holds Ian's arm up in triumph, as Ian just stares down at Toco with disgust and disdain.
The Angelic Sending
Voice: Are you ready?
Backstage, one of the cameras turns the corner and captures sight of Elijah Mercier standing outside of his older brother's locker room. He takes a step back and looks down at his watch.
Elijah Mercier: Your match is up next. This is not the time to be so fickle with appearances.
Voice: Hey now, there's always time to look good!
The source of the voice is none other than "Simply" Isaiah Mercier as he finally emerges from his locker room, dressed in his ring attire. He finalizes it by wrapping the last white tape around his left hand, checking to see he can ball it up into a fist. Smiling, he hands his younger brother the roll of tape.
Isaiah Mercier: Tonight, I'm taking hold of the future I desire and storming off with it.
Elijah Mercier: Then allow me to bless you.
Isaiah Mercier: Shoot for the stars, Eli.
The Younger Mercier smiles, nods his head and wears the roll of tape like a bracelet. He places his hands together, Isaiah mirrors this, and they both close their eyes.
Elijah Mercier: My dearest brother, an angel of the Lord, may you be blessed with His almighty Grace. Continue on in your journey, bestowed to preach the Word of the Lord, and go as His strongest warrior. Amen.
Isaiah Mercier: Amen.
They open their eyes and share in a cool-looking unique handshake, and then Isaiah heads for the entrance stage in good spirits.
The ringing of the bell sounds off and Maverick taunts Black, beckoning him to make the first move. Black sneers and charges at Maverick with a raised elbow aiming for his head. Maverick side-steps out of the way and shouts "Ole!" The fans cheer and laugh, entertained by one of their favorite wrestlers as he trips Black and captures his right wrist with a painful wristlock. Black shakes his head and rolls out of it, but Maverick plants a boot to the back of his head and quickly drives his elbow into his lower back. The former two-time PrYde Evolution Champion moves away in an attempt to recuperate, all while Maverick is heard laughing nearby. Once Black is up on his feet, he glares at Maverick and rushes for the execution of C.M.E. [Catch.Maim.Execute.] (Running Single Leg Dropkick). However, Maverick ducks under it, runs to bounce off the ropes and blast Black's face with the OF!MF! [Oh Fuck! My Face!] (Running Shotei {Palm Strike to the Face})! Black falls to the mat, holding his face in pain. Maverick ignores him for the moment and decides to get the crowd going by starting a rousing applause.
Rayne: Johnny's nothing but a joke! He lives to piss me off. Why the hell did Emily Corlen hire him? Did she forget about how he almost DESTROYED BWF two years ago?!
Nick Webb: Because he's one of the biggest draws in the professional wrestling industry. Not only that, but he's an amazing, accomplished wrestler.
The crowd is in full support of Johnny, cheering on the most successful Maverick Brother. Johnny spins around to face Black, who is beginning to recover, and he smiles in wait. Once Black is on his feet, he approaches Maverick with caution and soon locks up with him, but he feigns out and sends him down with a lariat takedown. Maverick finds himself on his back only for a moment before he defensively sweeps Black's offensive attempt and delivers a harsh backfist to his temple before pushing him off. Black briefly grimaces before he gets up, but Maverick is already on him, locking in The Perfect Armbar (Flawlessly Executed Flying Armbar) in just a split second! Black succumbs to the agony and taps out!
WINNER: Johnny Maverick, via Submission
Maverick releases the hold soon after the bell rings and "D.C. Sound Attack!" by Clutch resonates throughout the Key Arena. The fans are wildly cheering for the Sadistic Sex Symbol as the referee raises his hand in victory. The Objects join Maverick in the ring as they pose and celebrate together.
Rayne: Aw hell, now it starts... I can't even enjoy the two sexy women because of this guy!
Nick Webb: Johnny Maverick with the quick yet impressive victory over Jared Black! His armbar is truly the Perfect Armbar.
Rayne: More and more do these "new kids on the block" leave me unamused and unimpressed. Except for Catness. Me-ow.
Nick Webb: (sighs) Anyways... There's still plenty of Havok to go around because the new BWF World Champion Kyle Cross will be facing off against Edwin Kerrigan in a non-title match!
No Laughing Matter
"I never wanted this..."
The child's voice almost whisper soft, but clearly disturbed and upset.
"I saw a man in my dreams.
He was standing at the end of the hall"
Slowly the child speaks, but there is a sing-song quality to his words. Almost like poetry.
"Slowly, he approached.
He said 'I am going tear you apart
Take everything you love and burn it down.'"
The child audibly takes a breath seemingly trying to reassure himself. Behind him, the outline of a man in a similar looking suit becomes visible - the light only reveals up to his chest.
"He wore both a smile and a frown.
The man from my dreams,
Laughing like a banshee screams,
Set fire to the halls from which he came.
The flames engulfed him and me
And he continued laughing all the way."
"Now he is in your dreams
Standing in your hallway - waiting...
To take what you love
And burn it down..."
POP! The light goes out and darkness takes over the screen as maniacal, blood-curling laughter rings out. Out of the darkness white letters appear, they read:
This is no laughing matter.
Nick Webb: The new BWF World Champion is in action for the first time since winning the Championship here as he takes on a man who needs to impress tonight, Edwin Kerrigan.
Rayne: You're right about that. Let's see what this kid can do against the Scarred Sentinel! A win could make the Direwolf famous here!
The bell rings as Cross and Kerrigan tie up. Kerrigan goes behind and tries for a German suplex, but Cross hooks his leg, not allowing Kerrigan to hit the move. Cross then leans down before flipping Kerrigan over his head. Kerrigan lands hard and rolls to his feet, only for Cross to catch him with the Look To The North (Snap Jumping Side Kick)! With Kerrigan down and dazed on the mat, Cross sees an opportunity and locks in The Crossfire Clutch (Inverted Cloverleaf w/Bodyscissors {Gorilla Clutch})! Kerrigan struggles for a few moments, scratching at the mat to try dragging himself towards the ropes, but he can't handle the pain and is forced to tap out seconds later.
WINNER: Kyle Cross, via Submission
"Defy You" by The Offspring hits the BlazenTron as Cross releases the hold and stands, triumphant. He is handed the Championship and holds it up, posing for the flashbulbs going off in the audience, before smiling and rolling out of the ring.
Nick Webb: Well, so much for Edwin Kerrigan getting a chance to impress here. What was that, thirty seconds?
Rayne: Might be time to head back to the indies, kid!
Kyle Cross starts to head to the back after his victory and leaves Edwin Kerrigan alone in the ring. Kerrigan starts to stir and come to as “Conquistador” by 30 Seconds to Mars starts to play on the BlazenTron with the lights flashing blue. Just like at Happenstance, one man starts to come through the crowd and the other comes from the entrance. He stops and watches Kyle Cross pass before heading to the ring. Both men are wearing their half sky masks and charge the ring as Kerrigan gets to his feet.
Nick Webb: Here we go again!
The two men jump Kerrigan and start to land a series of punches that force him to a knee. The bigger of the two men lift him up and brings him to the mat with a suplex. He then pulls Kerrigan to his feet and holds his arms back as the other masked man starts to just beat him like a mugging.
Nick Webb: Kerrigan is helpless as he’s being assaulted.
Kerrigan is pushed forward and is taken down with a spinebuster. The two men stand over him as the smaller guy starts to pull him to his feet once again. He gets behind Kerrigan and sets him in a wheelbarrow position as the other guy comes charging off the ropes and lands a big boot to the side of Kerrigan’s head. He falls in a slump as the two men leave the ring and head out through the crowd.
Nick Webb: What was the point in that? Was that to send a message?
Rayne: Do you think this is a coincidence that Kerrigan just faced our World Champion? We have every reason to believe that AJ Adams is somehow behind this after seeing Adams talking to a couple of shady guys after the Outlaw assault. I have a feeling we've just seen the beginning of this, Nick.
Coming Soon on Pay-Per-View
Derrick Daze and Isaiah Mercier make their entrances separate, yet still seem warily on the same page as they await the arrival of the BWF Tag Team Champions. Logan Avery comes out first, but when Rudy Rudo's music hits, nobody appears. The music cues up twice more and nothing happens. Finally, Rudo's manager, Otto Bumblefeck, walks onto the stage, ignoring the jeering crowd as he makes his way down to ringside before joining Rayne and Webb at the announcer's table.
Nick Webb: Mr. Bumblefeck, nice of you to join us tonight.
Otto Bumblefeck: Watch your tone, boy! I'm out here to scout the competition for my client!
After waiting a few more moments, the referee shrugs before calling for the bell, leaving Avery alone to face the legal man, Derrick Daze in what has just become a handicap match. Avery and Daze tie up and Avery gains the early advantage, but it's not long before Daze gets it back and uses the numbers game to his advantage, pinning Avery in their corner and taking turns tagging out and taking shots laying into him.
Nick Webb: Shouldn't your client be out here, wrestling?
Otto Bumblefeck: Why on Earth would he be doing that?
Rayne: He IS scheduled to be a part of this match.
Otto Bumblefeck: Shut your fat yap and listen to me. Rudy isn't here tonight because he is very emotionally distraught. He decided to stay home and take a personal day to sort things out.
Nick Webb: A personal day? Are you kidding me?
The match in the ring continues, with Daze and Mercier slowly dismantling Avery. The Tag Team Champion manages to get a few good shots in, including nearly pinning Daze following a surprise counter into the Hotel California (Quick, Explosive Brainbuster), but Mercier breaks it up and from there, it's only a matter of time. Daze takes down Avery with a springboard DDT, and then hits his Best Damn Senton (Triple Springboard Corkscrew Senton) before tagging in Mercier. Isaiah enters the ring and picks Avery up before hitting him with the Divine Simplicity (Spinning Inverted Double-Underhook Facebuster) and covering for the 1, 2, 3 and the pinfall victory for his team.
WINNERS: Derrick Daze and Isaiah Mercier, via Pinfall
"The Consequence" by You Me At Six resonates throughout the arena as Daze enters the ring and offers Mercier a tentative handshake. At least for now, both men are working together and are on the same page. A slight amount of respect underlies the obvious fact that neither man seems likely to trust the other even as they exit the ring and motion for gold around their waists.
Nick Webb: After that commanding performance, I have to imagine it won't be long before we see Daze and Mercier challenging for the Tag Team Titles. After the stunt your client pulled tonight, Otto, I wouldn't be shocked to see it happen on the next show!
Otto Bumblefeck: Stunt? STUNT?
Otto stands up and throws his headset off in a huff. He starts to stomp away before turning back to Rayne and Webb.
Otto Bumblefeck: AND THAT'S MISTER BUMBLEFECK TO YOU!
Otto rips his jacket off and throws it on the ground in anger before walking away, randomly yelling at fans sitting at ringside.
Rayne: You have such a way with people, Nick.
Nick Webb: Shut up, Rayne.
Be Prepared
As Havok returns from a lengthy promo showcasing what's coming up in the month of June on HBO, “Lights Out” by P.O.D. starts to play in the arena as the rise to their feet and boo as they await the arrival of AJ Adams. After a few moments and no appearance the music finally cuts as we get a graphic across the Tron.
Contrasting Religious Beliefs
Within one of the halls backstage of the Key Arena, the Mercier Brothers are seen talking among themselves, dressed in smart casual attire. The energy is still high from Isaiah and Derrick's victory over the BWF Tag Team Champions, Logan Avery and Rudy Rudo. Little do they know that someone is approaching them as their conversation continues.
Elijah Mercier: That was quite a match! I know you had devised a backup plan, but you were most certainly fine without it.
Isaiah Mercier: Better safe than sorry, right? But Daisy-Daze actually pulled his weight, much to my surprise. I expect a little somethin' to come from the win.
Elijah Mercier: Ms. Emily Corlen is a reasonable woman. I'm confident you shall be rewarded. This is truly one step closer to glory!
Happily, Elijah throws his arms around his older brother. Isaiah smiles and kisses the top of his head in a brotherly love fashion.
Voice: Aw, isn't that adorable?! Such a feel-good moment!
Out of the blue, Johnny Maverick pops up alongside the Mercier Brothers and throws an arm around each man's shoulders. He gently sways with them and begins to hum the familiar melody of the Cumbaya song. Strangely surprised, Isaiah raises an eyebrow and sternly looks back at Johnny, gesturing body language that speaks "the hell?" Elijah doesn't seem to mind the friendly intrusion, chuckling softly for a moment before clearing his throat. Johnny grins and takes a step back to give them some space.
Johnny Maverick: How rude of me-- allow me to introduce myself! Some call me "The King of Controversy"; others refer to me as "The Sadistic Sex Symbol". Also, a homeless guy in my neighborhood calls me 'Freddy' and I don't know why, but um... What the fuck am I talking about? Starting over. Hi, I'm Johnny!
He spins around with a stylish mannerism and extends his right hand out to the brothers. Elijah is more than happy to accept Johnny's hand and complete the handshake.
Elijah Mercier: Pleased to meet you, Mr. Johnny. I'm Elijah, and this is my older brother...
Isaiah Mercier: I got it, Eli. The name's Isaiah.
The Older Mercier extends his own hand out to the no-longer stranger, which Johnny gladly accepts and firmly shakes. The successful Maverick Brother leans in and plants a kiss on each Mercier Brother with a grin. Isaiah found the kiss to be awkward, wiping its remnants from his cheek. Elijah, however, smiles softly before he turns his head away, a light shade of red hue caressing his cheeks. Johnny chuckles and places a hand in one of his pockets.
Johnny Maverick: I'm really digging the positive vibe, boys. Keep it up! The Goddess Chaos bless both of you.
As he walks past them, Johnny discretely slips a piece of paper in one of Elijah's back pockets and whistles. Isaiah watches the estranged wrestler go and scratches the back of his head.
Isaiah Mercier: Great, he's Discordian.
While Isaiah is distracted, Elijah reaches into his back pocket and retrieves the piece of paper. Unfolding it, the contents are a Washington DC area phone number and the words--
"You're cute when you blush."
The red hue on Elijah's cheeks brightens for a brief moment before he quickly shakes his head. Hoping the blush fades in time, he quietly slides the note back into the pocket it was in.
Elijah Mercier: He's quite a fascinating fellow, don't you think?
Isaiah Mercier: Meh. He's weirder in person than he is on Twitter.
He looks back at his younger brother and tilts his head, prompting the question "are you okay?"
Elijah Mercier: Oh, I'm just a little famished. I could go for some food...
Isaiah Mercier: Okay... How about Chinese?
Elijah Mercier: That sounds wonderful.
With smiles on their faces, they head on towards the nearest exit for the parking lot.
DING DING DING!!!
Scott Benjamin: Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest is your main event of the evening... it is scheduled for ONE fall... and it is for the BWF Sovereign Championship!!! Introducing first, the challenger... he hails from Blackrock, Ireland... weighing in tonight at 215 pounds... he is "Godless" FLYNN MCLOUGHLIN!!!
Short silence. A wave washes over the crowd; the feedback of a guitar, it bellows through the arena like a wave of heat crossing the vast deserts, rippling like a mirage under the sun, the guitar feedback continues to wave back and forth until the strumming of an acoustic guitar kicks in - "Godless" by The Dandy Warhols. It plays for a few bars until the rest of the band ensemble of drums and horns join in with the guitars. At the cue; A Man wearing a long black overcoat steps out onto the stage. Carrying on his back a large Celtic Cross. He stops at the end of the ramp, looking out to the crowd, shaking his head a bit before he continues down the ramp, ignoring the fans as he makes his way into the ring, no flashy entrances, not even a video playing up on the screen, just music and the weight of a cross bearing down on this man's shoulders. He sets the cross down outside next to the ring post and steps between the ropes. He then rests back against the nearest turnbuckle, looking back out to the crowd. His music fades away into the distance, like another heat wave passing through.
Nick Webb: When he first joined the BWF, Godless was a force to be reckoned with. At Danger Zone with his triumphant victory over Spykeman!, he was given an opportunity to choose whether to compete for the Sovereign Championship or the World Championship. He chose the Sovereign Championship and its holder, Elena Simonova.
Rayne: If it was my decision, I would've gone straight for the World Championship, but whatever made his day, I guess. Tonight he has a chance to leave Seattle with the Sovereign Championship.
The fans are shouting obscenities and booing Godless as Scott Benjamin continues.
Scott Benjamin: And his opponent, she is the current and reigning BWF Sovereign Champion... she hails from Chicago, Illinois by way of New York City... weighing in tonight at 115 pounds... she is the 2013 Happenstance Queen... she is ELENA SIMONOVA!!!
All the lights go black, low red strip lights come on to line the ramp down to the ring and "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light 'Em Up)" by Fall Out Boy begins blaring over the BlazenTron as the house lights come up. Elena Simonova can be seen, crouched low, with her back to the audience; a red and white spotlight on each side of the stage begin rotating side to side. Elena spins to face the audience while she rises, as a cascading curtain of red pyro falls behind her, the spotlight glinting off of the Sovereign Championship around her waist. Her girlfriend, Akemi Hayashi, follows closely behind carrying Elena's Happenstance crown and scepter as Elena walks down to the ring and pulls herself up onto the ring apron, leans back on the top rope and back flips into the ring.
Rayne: Ah, every time I see her, she's always so gorgeous! Deadly, but gorgeous nonetheless!
Nick Webb: Elena Simonova has been on a wild streak! Reigning BWF Sovereign Champion and the 2013 Happenstance Queen! Tonight she defends her championship for the first time against Godless. Can she emerge victorious?
Rayne: I think so! Let the match begin!
DING!
As soon as the bell rings, Elena charges straight at Godless and strikes him multiple times with a combination of punches. Godless attempts to fend for himself, pushing her back-- only to be met with a harsh clothesline down to the mat. Elena is quick to mount Godless and attempt to smash his face in with several right hands. She is momentarily stunned by an elbow to the temple from Godless, who proceeds to turn her over and strike her with his own chain of punches. He tries to thrust his right elbow towards her throat in what would become multiple shots. However, Elena blocks it with her left arm and counters with a sharp backhand to the side of his skull. He staggers and moves away from her, and that gives her the opportunity to kip up and floor him with a flying forearm smash! She goes for the pin and the referee counts--
1!
2!
Kickout!
Nick Webb: Right out of the fire, Simonova is fearless!
Rayne: Damn, she is one fierce Russian babe! Godless might not last any longer if she keeps this up!
Nick Webb: It looks that way, Rayne!
Simonova is back on her feet and Godless is not too far behind. The two of them lock up in the center of the ring, yet Godless takes another route and kicks Simonova in the midsection. He reels her into a side headlock and wrenches her head, but she refuses to let him gain the advantage by pulling off a reversal. With the momentum she launches him down with an armdrag takedown and tightens the grip on his arm with an armbar.
Nick Webb: She's got the armbar locked in tight!
Rayne: I don't think he's going to let it end this way... Look!
Godless shakes his head and grits his teeth, finding the strength to lift Simonova up and slam her down with a powerbomb! McLoughlin looks to repeat the same move, once again lifting Elema up, but she maneuvers her way into a different position and sticks him with the surprise DDT! Elena gets herself onto her feet, bringing the stunned McLoughlin with her, and she puts him in the precarious position known as the Iron Curtain (Octopus Stretch)! It only takes a few short seconds before he taps!
DING DING DING!!!
Scott Benjamin: Ladies and gentlemen, the winner of this match and STILL the BWF Sovereign Champion... the 2013 Happenstance Queen... ELENA SIMONOVA!!!
"My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light 'Em Up)" by Fall Out Boy begins blaring over the BlazenTron, but Elena refuses to relinquish the hold. She pulls back harder as the music cuts back out. The referee tries to get her to break the hold, but Elena refuses, pulling back on his arm harder and harder. Godless screams in agony as Elena pulls back even more, until finally, a sickening SNAP fills the arena. Elena finally releases the hold and rolls to her feet as the referee checks on Godless. He calls for help and EMTs make their way down to the ring as Elena climbs the turnbuckle, posing nonchalantly. Her theme song kicks back in as the crowd seems almost collectively disgusted at what they just witnessed.
Nick Webb: Oh my God... did you see that?
Rayne: Elena Simonova ending Godless' BWF career? Yes, yes I did.
Elena holds her Sovereign Title in one hand and motions for more gold with the other; an obvious challenge to her Legacy X opponent, the BWF World Champion. Almost on cue, Elena's theme cuts into "Defy You" by The Offspring and Kyle Cross walks out onto the stage, the BWF World Title slung over his shoulder. He stares Elena down even as she stares right back at him, neither competitor batting an eyelash.
Nick Webb: We're looking at the future here, Rayne!
Rayne: Oh, I know! It's giving me goosebumps! We're going to -- wait, look!
Indeed, the BlazenTron has come to life with the image of Emily Corlen standing in her office. Both Elena and Cross look up at the big screen as Emily smiles.
Emily Corlen: Sorry, I don't mean to interrupt your staring contest. I just had a little bit of news I wanted to pass along before we go off the air tonight. It affects both of you.
A pause.
Emily Corlen: As you both know, in two weeks on June 24, Havok will emanate live from Kyle's hometown of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This edition will ALSO be the 150th episode of Monday Night Havok, a milestone for the BWF. So, I think the circumstances call for something... memorable. Something worthy of being the main event of Havok Episode 150. I'm thinking... a BWF World Championship Match.
The crowd cheers loudly as Cross and Elena look back at one another.
Emily Corlen: No, no, no... not the two of you. Elena, you earned your shot for Legacy X on July 21 and that won't be taken away from you. No, the main event of the next episode of Havok will see Kyle Cross returning to his hometown to defend the BWF World Championship against the man he defeated for that title in HIS hometown... AJ Adams.
Cross nods at the Tron. Elena looks on, slightly confused.
Emily Corlen: Hold on, Elena. I see you sitting there going 'I thought you said this match would affect both of us!' And it will... because you're ALSO going to be featured in this match...
Another pause for dramatic emphasis.
Emily Corlen: ...as the Special Guest Referee.
Emily smiles.
Emily Corlen: Have a nice night, you two... I'll be seeing both of you in two weeks in Toronto. Oh, and Kyle?
Cross looks back up at the BlazenTron.
Emily Corlen: Be prepared.
Emily winks as the camera and the image on the Tron cuts out. Cross and Elena look back at one another, and then Cross looks down at the BWF World Title over his shoulder before the feed fades to the BWF logo, and then finally to black.
