Episode 233 - November 2, 2020
Alison James: Welcome, everyone, to Monday Night Havok! We are live on the air and tonight, we're crowning the very first BWF Revolution X Champion!
Liam Stewart: Named for the BWF off-shoot organization that popped up a few times between 2006 and 2013, Revolution X Wrestling, this title may be brand-new, but it's got a lot of history attached to it regardless. I'm super excited to see who wins tonight's Revolution Battle Royale and leaves with the gold!
Alison James: Indeed, but that's not all on the docket for this evening. Former International Champion Enforcer will, seemingly, pay for his sins when he is forced to face not one, not two, but THREE competitors by himself in a Handicap Match. His actions may have earned him a shot at two different titles come Gauntlet Run, but will all of that be for naught if he doesn't even MAKE it to Gauntlet Run?
Liam Stewart: He better, 'cause I got money riding on him!
Alison James: You are your father's son.
Liam Stewart: Hurtful, Alison.
Alison James: Ha ha... and finally, in tonight's main event, BWF World Champion FM Young teams up with the new Tag Team Champions, Johnny Maverick and Finale, to face -
Liam Stewart: NO, Alison. They have a name.
Alison James: ...PLEASE don't make me say it.
Liam Stewart: THE CANDY BOYS 2000!
Alison James: ...yes, THAT... as they face their respective #1 Contenders, Nessa Wall and the Freaks With Benefits, Kayla Taylor and Krista May Williams!
Liam Stewart: Oh, sure, you can say THEIR team name no problem.
Alison James sighs audibly as the camera shifts backstage.
Peeping the Chicks
We start with a black screen and people chattering in the background, but nothing is able to be made out. Suddenly, there’s the sound of a spray paint can being shaken and then the sound of it discharging and on the screen, we see in graffiti like letters:
2 Broke Chicks
The screen comes up on an RV, a small one, but it’s not in horrible condition. The door of the van opens up and a puff of smoke comes pouring out and down the steps, we see Jane Harper coming out, coughing up a lung and waving her hand in front of her face.
Jane Harper: Damn, Chi Chi, where the hell did you find that shit! It was gooooooooooooooooooooooood!
Behind Jane, there’s more coughing and hacking. From the cloud of smoke inside the RV, Chiaki Sanada comes stepping...no...CRAWLING...out of the door and down the steps. She tumbles down them and flops onto her back on the pavement. As usual, her pants and cut off tee look to be about two or three sizes too big on her. Chiaki coughs, hacks and gags, convulsing violently with each sound that comes from her before she goes still; eyes bloodshot to shit and staring up at the sky. She almost seems to be dead at first until she blinks her eyes once.
Chiaki Sanada: Old white man say...Milwaukee...Best.
She lets out one more loud, wheezing cough but as she does, she sits up like a corpse rising from the dead. Her wheeze even sounds like a zombie groan. She lets out another cough before craning her head up to Jane.
Chiaki Sanada: You like?
Jane holds out her hand to Chiaki, signaling to give her a hand to her feet. She nods her head as she grabs a rolled up piece of paper from her pocket along with a lighter. She strikes it and lights the paper up and takes a drag from it. Once she finishes, she coughs violently and laughs as she holds the object out to her friend.
Jane Harper: Damn right. This is such good shit, Chi Chi. I’m proud of you!
Chiaki accepts the roll and takes a big hit off of it. The little Joshi goes into another coughing fit, beating her fist against her chest. Finally, she pulls herself up to her feet and leans back against the new RV they have to cruise around in now.
Chiaki Sanada: Chi Chi do good! Got Jane-chan’s back all day, erry day!
Jane Harper: Just like tonight when we go out there into that battle royal. These dumb suits out here are thinking we’ll fight each other to get this championship.
Jane laughs as she takes another drag of the roll. She goes to lean up against the van, but goes back into the open door and falls backwards onto the steps.
Jane Harper: Son of a bitch! Chi Chi, close the damn door when you leave the house! Were you born in a barn or something?
Chiaki Sanada: No dumb dumb! Chi Chi born hospital! Have picture! Look!
Chiaki grabs the sides of the door frame and launches herself over Jane while she’s still laying down. She disappears inside the RV a moment before things can be heard being rustled around and thrown. A couple of empty Red Bull cans and a full on brown, paper KFC bag full of trash go by flying by the door. Finally, Chiaki comes running back into view of the camera and sticks a frayed, old looking polaroid in the woman’s face.
Chiaki Sanada: See? Okaasan!
Jane can’t help but laugh as she stands back up to her feet and dusts herself off. She slaps the picture out of the way and just looks at Chiaki with an amused look on her face.
Jane Harper: Cheech, it’s just an expression. Just be more careful and close the door. We got valuable shit in there like our Red Bulls and hookah. People could steal them from us.
Chiaki fumbles with the picture, trying not to drop it. She tucks it into her leg pocket and hops out of the RV again. Jane closes the door to the RV and leans up against it now as she keeps her eyes on Chiaki.
Jane Harper: But we gotta focus tonight. We got a match where we could walk out as the first ever Revolution X Champions!
Chiaki Sanada: Yosh! 2 Broke Chicks! Ride till we die!
Chiaki throws up both hands and double high fives Jane when the camera man suddenly clears his throat to get their attention. They look at the camera and Chiaki looks like she’s about to slap the taste out of the man’s mouth.
Chiaki Sanada: Nani?!
Camera Man: Umm...you girls do know the new belt’s a singles title right?
Chiaki Sanada: So…?
Chiaki shrugs, giving a look like “so?” She looks at Jane and thumbs to the camera as if to say ‘this fucking guy.’
Camera Man: Soooo….you both can’t win it. Only one of you can.
Chiaki purses her lips and looks between Jane and the cameraman. She’s about to swing on this dude. Jane steps between Chiaki and the cameraman and holds her blue haired friend back.
Jane Harper: Look dude, technically it’s a singles title, but when one of us wins, we both win. We’ll be co-Revolution X Champions and we’ll take turns defending it. We do everything together and this is gonna be no fucking different.
Jane gets right up into the camera, staring daggers into it and by proxy, at the cameraman himself as the camera begins to shake a little bit.
Jane Harper: Look, Chi Chi and me, we’re gonna work together through the entire fucking match, leaving just the two of us left and when that happens, the bell is gonna ring and we’re gonna be handed the Revolution X Championship and be the first ever champions. Got it?
Chiaki Sanada: Yeah!! You got, fuck boi?! Keep talkin’ shit, we kick you--
Chiaki starts to approach the man but Jane ends up having to hold her back as she starts going off in Japanese. It gets to the point where Jane has to grab Chiaki around the waist and lift her, kicking and cursing up off of her feet.
Chiaki Sanada: Oi!! Jane-chan!! Put down!!
When Chiaki’s finally back on her feet she huffs at the camera and feigns like she’s about to rush the camera man again with a crazed (yet oddly adorable) little snarl. The camera man jerks back a bit. Chiaki’s a little fired up now and lifts her eyes up at Jane.
Chiaki Sanada: We got dis, Jane-chan. We 2 Broke Chicks! We go hard! Yes?
Jane looks at Chiaki and gives her a little shove, the look in her eyes shifting to one of complete focus and readiness as she turns back to the camera and looks right at it.
Jane Harper: You’re damn right we do. We party hard and we fight even harder. The others in this match, they don’t stand a chance against us. Let’s go, Cheech, we got a match to win.
And with that, Jane gives the camera a shove as she opens the door for Chiaki to walk in. Before the blue haired little spitfire does, though, she runs towards the camera. Her eyes shift downward and she lets out a little grunt as she apparently stomps on something. The cameraman curses as Chiaki goes running up into the RV and the camera perspective shakes and turns as the cameraman tries not to drop his equipment while hopping around on one foot. Finally the camera does fall to the ground and the shot goes to static, but not before the cameraman lets out a very audible “AH SHIT!!!”
The Highlights...
- Although there was some confusion in the opening moments as to how many people were legal in the ring at once, the referee decided to make the match a tag situation for the team of Areano, Kalua and Vebbins, if only for his own sanity in following the goings on of the contest.
- The trio actually managed to work almost flawlessly as a team, flowing in and out of the ring with tags and double team moves designed to keep Enforcer a) off his feet and b) in a constant state of needing to recover.
- Despite this, Enforcer's brute strength and rage (presumably at his situation) kept fueling him, making it seem like the more he took, the more he had to give. He managed to get a few near falls towards the end of the contest, one of which (on his nemesis Talia) was narrowly broken up by both Azurine and Anaru diving into the ring.
The Finish...
Inevitably, as these matches are wont to do, everything broke down, perhaps due to an increased sense of "what do we need to do to keep this guy down?" from the trio facing Enforcer. All three competitors did their best to triple-team Enforcer, but the referee wasn't having it, as he pulled Talia and Azurine, the non-legal competitors, away from the brawl that was occurring. With the referee distracted by removing them from the ring proper, there was no one to see Enforcer land a swift kick to Anaru Kalua's nether regions (aside from the crowd, of course). Enforcer quickly dropped Kalua with a swift Death Penalty (DDT) and covered right as the referee turned his attention back to the legal competitors. By the time either Vebbins or Areano knew what was occurring, the referee had already counted 3, awarding the match to Enforcer.
WINNER: Enforcer, via Pinfall [13:11]
"Natural Born Killaz" by Ice Cube & Dr. Dre started playing as Enforcer quickly exited the ring. Azurine and Talia tried to cut him off, but Enforcer got away, making it up the ramp and laughing the entire way. The two women checked on Anaru as Enforcer made it to the stage and motioned for a belt, followed up by holding up two fingers.
Alison James: I... wow. I mean, he totally cheated, but he did it! Enforcer won this handicap match that, I suspect, very few people gave him any chance to win. Unfortunately, as the saying goes, it's only cheating if you get caught, and tonight, Enforcer absolutely did not get caught.
Liam Stewart: I always knew he would pull it off. I bet money on him, remember?
Alison James: Oh yeah. How much did you make just now?
Liam Stewart: A cool 5 dollars. Canadian.
Alison James: ...so, what is that in U.S. dollars?
Liam Stewart: Approximately $3.84. GUESS WHO GETS TWO MCDOUBLES TONIGHT?! OH YEAH BABY!
Coming Soon to the BWF Network & PPV
The Highlights...
- As promised earlier in the evening, the 2 Broke Chicks worked as a cohesive unit going into this match. So, too, did the Shelleys, even though Gabe was likely still on the lookout for Finale to pop up in some fashion. As a result, these four competitors racked up the most eliminations between them, perhaps proving once and for all that "every man for himself" is far from the reality of these types of matches.
- Aside from that, The Crimson Ghost had a stellar showing, eliminating three of his fellow competitors in this match; the most for a single individual.
- The 'moment of the night' goes to Kasey Kash, who was thrown out of the ring by Ghost, only to somehow land in a handstand against the barricade in a true "did that really just happen" moment. Kash walked his way back around to the stairs and re-enter the ring without being eliminated... only to be thrown out again by Crimson Ghost moments later, this time suffering elimination.
- Zoe Cooper and AJ Adams had a blow out early on in this match, leading to Zoe eliminating AJ. An incensed and frustrated Adams slid back into the ring and threw Cooper out in retaliation. The two brawled to the back as the battle royale continued.
The Eliminations...
1. AJ Adams, by Zoe Cooper [3:12]
2. Zoe Cooper, by AJ Adams [3:27]
3. Kasey Kash, by The Crimson Ghost [5:43]
4. Jaxon Taylor, by Gabe Shelley/Katie Shelley [7:11]
5. Akemi Hayashi, by The Crimson Ghost [9:22]
6. Super Tiger, by The Crimson Ghost [10:17]
7. The Crimson Ghost, by Jane Harper/Chiaki Sanada [13:54]
The Final Four...
The 2 Broke Chicks and The Shelleys were the final four standing in the ring. The two teams brawled for a bit, each almost getting eliminations, but they remained at a stalemate as the match rolled on. The tide finally turned when, suddenly, Katie grabbed her husband and threw him over the top rope!
8. Gabe Shelley, by Katie Shelley [16:33]
Even Katie seemed surprised by her actions as Gabe seemed incredulous (and a little hurt) on the outside of the ring. As Katie tried to explain herself, the Chicks rolled up behind her and dumped her over the top rope!
9. Katie Shelley, by Jane Harper/Chiaki Sanada [16:57]
With only themselves left in the ring, the 2 Broke Chicks (as promised earlier in the evening) declared the match over and exited the ring at the same time. Scott Benjamin seemed confused as to what to do, but an audible from backstage (likely from the boss, Emily Corlen) told him to call the match and award them both the title, so that's exactly what he did!
WINNERS AND NEW CO-REVOLUTION X CHAMPIONS: Jane Harper and Chiaki Sanada [17:15]
"Make Em Bleed" by Słoń & Dope D.O.D. played over the BlazenTron as the referee handed both girls the single belt. They each took a hold of it and held it up high, celebrating as the crowd ate it up.
Alison James: That is... not how I would have expected this match to end.
Liam Stewart: What a match it was, though! And hey, Revolution X Wrestling was all about "anything can happen, there must be a winner", right? Well tonight, anything DID happen and there were TWO winners as a result!
Alison James: I'm simply amused that this brand-new Championship will forever be known as the singles title that was first held simultaneously by a tag team. And what about Gabe and Katie? I can't imagine that's going to be a fun conversation later.
Liam Stewart: Yeah, your sister seems to be going through some stuff.
Alison James: Indeed she does, Liam. Indeed she does.
A Vote of Confidence?
The camera moves backstage as Havok returns from commercial, where we see BWF Owner Emily Corlen on the phone.
Emily Corlen: ...yeah, I mean, look, I didn't see it coming either. But it's what they wanted to do with the belt, and they were the last two standing, so whatever, right?
A beat, as the person on the other end speaks.
Emily Corlen: No, no, this isn't going to become a thing. Don't worry. I don't want co-holders of singles titles to become commonplace in BWF, but if you recall, there IS precedent for this in the past. Remember when Wacko Marko and -
Emily looks up and sees Enforcer standing next to her.
Emily Corlen: ...um, hey, can I call you back? Uh, yeah, work stuff. Oh, right, you're watching live, you can see who it is. Yeah, exactly. Alright, talk to you later.
Emily ends the call and turns her attention to Enforcer.
Emily Corlen: Mr. Cross. I wanted to talk to you real quick.
Enforcer: I know there's some kind of conspiracy here against me. I've been talking about it for weeks now, and I keep getting punished more and more. Well, boss, your little plan didn't work out. I WON tonight, and I'm going to keep winning. At Gauntlet Run, I'm leaving with both the International AND Sovereign Titles, and there's nothing you or anyone else can do about it.
Emily assesses Enforcer for a moment.
Emily Corlen: Good. That's what I like to hear.
Enforcer seems taken aback for a moment. This clearly wasn't the response he anticipated.
Emily Corlen: Have you ever heard of a Trial by Fire, Mr. Cross? See, from the moment I first laid eyes on you during your BWF tryout, I knew you were something special. But you have one HELL of a chip on your shoulder. See, take last week for example. You were so convinced that I was out to get you and screw you over that you lost a #1 Contender's Match that, frankly, was yours to win. Nothing against Miss Vebbins, of course.
A pause.
Emily Corlen: You're a truly remarkable talent, Mr. Cross, but you need to get your head out of your own ass. And I mean that in the nicest way possible. See, I was like you once. Everywhere I looked, I saw a conspiracy against me, people preventing me from making it to the top. I had to learn the hard way that 99 times out of 100, the only thing preventing myself was succeeding was me, making excused for myself anytime I failed. And when I stopped doing that? I started winning. A lot. At one point in my career, I held four titles simultaneously, including a World Title. But enough about me. This is about you, and your future in BWF.
Emily leans in closer to Enforcer.
Emily Corlen: I know your rapsheet. Your multitudes of titles from other organizations. Frankly, you have all the tools to be one of, if not the greatest, competitors in the 17 year history of the BWF. I know a "once in a lifetime" talent when I see one, and you've got it in spades. But there is NO conspiracy against you, I can promise you that. And if you keep worrying that there is one, the only person who is truly going to be handicapped... is yourself.
A beat.
Emily Corlen: It's time to decide, Mr. Cross. Do you want to compete in a BWF ring... or do you want to dominate it? It's time to make your decision, because the talent pool is only getting deeper here, and if you aren't careful, someone else is gonna swoop right in and make themselves the next big thing here in BWF.
One final pause, and a smirk.
Emily Corlen: Believe it.
Emily winks at Enforcer, who still seems a bit lost for words, and makes her way off-screen. The camera hangs on Enforcer for a few more moments, deep in thought, before fading back to the ring for the night's main event.
The Highlights...
- From the get go, it was clear that Nessa wanted to square off with FM Young, perhaps as a preview of their upcoming title match at Gauntlet Run. Young kept her team tagging in, however, causing Nessa to grow increasingly frustrated.
- Young and the Candy Boys were seemingly just goofing around at first, incensing Nessa in particular. When her side began to gain the upper hand, however, FM, Finale and Johnny signaled one another, and the mood instantly shifted. The Championship trio began executing expert triple-team maneuvers as though they had been a three-person unit their entire careers.
- For a time, Nessa was stuck carrying the match, as Kayla and Krista May devolved into an argument at ringside. When Nessa tried to tag one of her teammates in, there was no one there to tag, and it nearly cost them the match before the Freaks finally re-focused back on the match and saved their partner from a pin following a Shield-style triple powerbomb.
The Finish...
For once, a match of this magnitude actually didn't completely fall apart in the closing moments of the match. The BWF World Champion had her #1 Contender on the ropes, ready to deliver the kill shot, but Kayla yelled, distracting the Champ JUST long enough for Nessa to hit the ropes and catch FM with the Application Denied (Beautiful Disaster Kick)! Nessa measured Young as she pulled herself up with the ropes, blew a kiss and landed a Kissy, Kissy (Blown Kiss into a Boma Ye) on the Champion before going for the cover. The Candy Boys jumped in to break the pin up, the Freaks were quicker and tackled the Tag Champs out of the ring, and Nessa scored the 3 count and the win!
WINNERS: Nessa Wall, Kayla Taylor & Krista May Williams, via Pinfall [32:40]
"She's a Genius" by Jet played on the BlazenTron as Nessa and the Freaks exited the ring. They celebrated up the ramp as the Candy Boys checked on FM Young.
Alison James: This is huge, Liam. The #1 Contender just pinned the BWF World Champion!
Liam Stewart: I'm sure this is going to stick in FM's craw for a while. The question is, can Nessa do it again at Gauntlet Run?
Alison James: That remains to be seen. Still, a message has been sent tonight, and that message is simple; Nessa Wall is coming for that BWF World Title, and she's not going to take no for an answer!
Liam Stewart: Neither will FM Young, I suspect. Gauntlet Run is going to be a showdown for the ages, that's for damn sure!
Alison James: I can't wait! But, that's in a few weeks. Right now, we're just about out of time here. For Liam Stewart, I'm Alison James... good night from the House of Blazenwing! We'll see you next week on Monday Night Havok!
We see one final shot of the trio of #1 Contenders celebrating their big win, before the camera fades to the BWF logo, then to black.
