Episode #228 - October 17, 2016
Nick Webb: We're back, folks! It's been nearly two long months since BWF's last event, Heatwave 2, rocked the wrestling world, but we're back tonight, live on the BWF Network, for what is sure to be a historic Monday Night Havok!
Rayne: We have a new logo, a new set, a new theme, and a new World Champion! Kurt Hullum, despite winning the BWF World Title back in August, makes his first official appearance tonight as the BWF World Champ!
Nick Webb: And it could be his LAST appearance as World Champion, as General Manager Katie Shelley has decreed that tonight, in our main event, he will put that title on the line against the woman he cashed his Money in the Bank briefcase in on, F.M. Young!
Rayne: ...don't even JOKE about that, Nick!
Nick Webb: (ignoring Rayne) And if that weren't enough, Mrs. Shelley has promised that, by the end of the night, we'll have an official announcement regarding the main event of our next pay-per-view spectacular, Beta Test, taking place just two weeks from tonight!
The Emerald Phoenix Rises
Before the first match can begin, "Confident" by Demi Lovato hits the BlazenTron and now former BWF Tag Team Champion Emily Corlen makes her way out to the ring to a sizeable pop.
Nick Webb: New entrance music for Emily Corlen tonight, who I'm sure isn't in the best of moods considering the last time we saw her, she was being backstabbed by the woman she brought into BWF herself.
Rayne: Having used to work for Emily when she was BWF C.E.O., I absolutely understand the desire to want to knock her out. HA!
The music cuts out as Emily grabs a mic.
Emily Corlen: First off, it's damn good to be back in a BWF ring again. It's been too long. Damn stupid hiatuses!
The crowd cheers.
Emily Corlen: Second... 2016 has been a hell of a year for yours truly. I returned to eWo and did what none of my "Blazenwing" contemporaries could do - captured the eWo World Heavyweight Title. It wasn't a long reign, sure, but the fact remains... after three kids and way too much time away from the ring, I proved that not only am I still a main event level competitor, but I can still win the biggest prizes in the game when it counts.
Emily paces a bit in the ring.
Emily Corlen: In BWF, I decided to focus my efforts elsewhere, and thought about returning to the Tag Team division. See, I'd held those belts before, back when they were a part of RXW along with Matt Stone, but I'd never been BWF Tag Team Champion under the BWF banner. So, I gave myself a challenge; prove I'm the greatest tag team competitor in history. Find a nobody, bring him or her into BWF, carry them to the top and win the Tag Team Titles. And wouldn't you know it, I did exactly that.
She motions to the BlazenTron, where we see a still of Corlen and Archer as BWF Tag Team Champions.
Emily Corlen: Truth be told, I never really clicked with Meryl the way I expected we would. Mostly because, despite her lack of experience, she refused to listen to my advice. It was like talking to a brick wall, trying to teach her. Maybe I'm just not cut out to be a mentor. Who knows?
Emily chuckles softly.
Emily Corlen: What I DO know, though, is what happened at Heatwave 2. Now, Meryl and myself, maybe we weren't besties. Probably wasn't gonna be on her Christmas card list. But, I NEVER expected her to betray me and leave me for dead, mostly because I assumed - incorrectly - that when Meryl finally did snap, she would at least have the common fucking courtesy to do it face to face. But, hey, that's fine. She wants to stab me in the back, make her name off of besting a six-time World Champion. Can't say I blame her. Hell, as much as I hate to say it, she reminds me of myself when I was just getting started in this business.
Emily gets closer to the camera standing on the apron.
Emily Corlen: But, sweetie, and this is real important, so pay attention... you picked the wrong fucking woman to use as a stepping stone.
Em's nostrils flare as the crowd cheers.
Emily Corlen: Some people might take what you did on the chin and move on. Unfortunately for you, I'm REAL good at holding a grudge. Just ask the Engel family. So, I went to my dear sweet old friend Katie, I plead my case, and I got the official confirmation earlier tonight; you and I will go one on one at Beta Test - and the fans will vote for one of the three stipulations that I'm about to reveal.
The crowd cheers louder.
Emily Corlen: See, I don't just want to hurt you, Meryl. I plan on ENDING you. So, with that in mind, I've got three potential stipulations the fans can vote for, and I've been given the go ahead for all of them.
A pause, as Emily holds a single finger up.
Emily Corlen: LAST RIDE MATCH!!!
A pop; Emily holds two fingers up.
Emily Corlen: ELECTRIFIED CAGE MATCH!!!
The fans gasp as Emily holds three fingers up.
Emily Corlen: BURIED ALIVE MATCH!!!
The fans cheer wildly at all three options. Emily smirks.
Rayne: Is Emily INSANE?!
Nick Webb: No, Rayne, she's pissed, and she wants to hurt Meryl Archer. I don't think any three of these options are particularly attractive if you're Miss Archer right now.
Rayne: And what if Archer beats Emily at her own game in two weeks?
Nick Webb: Dare I say, the loser of any of these three matches might not be seen again in BWF for some time... if ever again.
"Confident" by Demi Lovato hits again as Emily exits the ring and sits down at the commentary booth, joining Webb and Rayne on commentary as Emily's former partner, Meryl Archer, makes her way out to the ring in preparation for her upcoming match versus the Chaos Theory Champion, Danny Hall. Havok fades to commercial as Meryl rolls into the ring, her eyes not leaving Emily's.
OPENING MOMENTS: As the match gets underway, Chaos Theory Champion Danny Hall takes control of his, frankly, frightening opposition largely due in part to Emily's presence at ringside, which keeps Meryl from fully focusing on the match at hand. Danny scores a few early covers, but nothing substantial as he continues to wear down the blonde powerhouse.
MOMENTUM: Throughout the match, Danny maintains control of the contest, though Meryl negates multiple attempts at hitting a signature or finishing move, keeping Danny on the offensive, but unable to keep her down for long. Eventually, Meryl shifts her focus away from Emily and onto Danny, planting herself firmly in control.
CLOSING MOMENTS: As Meryl inches closer to a victory, Emily, at ringside, decides that she's seen enough. Meryl plants her feet and motions for the Cobra Clutch, but as Danny rises into position, Emily drops her headset, hops onto the apron and yells, distracting both Meryl and the referee. Meryl turns and charges at the apron, swinging a fist at Emily, but Corlen drops off the apron and out of harm's way. As Archer screams at her Beta Test opponent, Hall slips in out of nowhere, rolls Meryl up, and scores the 1, 2, 3!
WINNER: Danny Hall, via Pinfall (7:44)
AFTERMATH: Meryl, incensed, dives out of the ring, chasing Emily around it. Emily slides into the ring, Meryl follows, and she runs right into a superkick from Danny Hall! Emily, impressed by Hall's aid, holds his arm up in victory, allowing the Chaos Theory Champion to bask in the glow of his win.
OPENING MOMENTS: One-third of the Trios Champions clashes with the new International Champion, as Luke and Akemi size each other up in the middle of the ring. Luke lifts Akemi up, showcasing his power, and Akemi responds by hitting Luke with a snap suplex, her raw strength almost surprising the former AXW World Champion.
MOMENTUM: As much as Luke tries to get something off the ground, throughout the match, Akemi has an answer for everything he can throw at her, or so it seems...
CLOSING MOMENTS: In full-on Pixy Mode, Akemi has Luke on the ropes, but can't seem to keep him down. He even manages to survive her Bomaye Knee, draping his foot on the bottom rope before the three count! Perhaps this causes Akemi to grow frustrated, because as she lifts him to hit the Grapey Marshmallow Fizz (Shining Heel Kick), Luke shoves her hard, face first, into the corner, and as she stumbles backwards, Luke comes out of nowhere with the NFG [No Fucks Given] (Yakuza Kick to the BACK of the head), dropping Akemi and giving Luke a major 1, 2, 3 victory over the International Champion!
WINNER: Luke Mathews, via Pinfall (8:08)
AFTERMATH: "Still Counting" by Volbeat plays as Luke rolls out of the ring and grabs both his Trios Title and Akemi's International Title. He looks down at both of them before rolling back into the ring and holding them both up. Akemi rises and stares daggers at Luke (no pun intended), who stares at her belt for one more moment before handing it to her and saying "I want a shot someday!" Luke rolls out of the ring and makes his way up the ramp as Akemi looks on, slightly deflated following her loss.

Aftershock
Nick Webb: Folks, right now, we want to take you back to a little less than two months ago. August 29, 2016, just minutes after winning - and then losing - the BWF World Title, the woman facing Kurt Hullum for the World Title in tonight's main event had some choice words for both the former and the current BWF World Champion. Please take a look.
F.M. Young still cut open and bleeding, now wearing a crimson mask that trails all the way down her face staining her dark sports top, storms into the frame of the camera. She's shouting tiredly in Spanish, as she grabs a metal trashcan, kicking it, slamming it against the ground, denting the every loving shit out of it. She looks like a crazy woman and behind her, standing silently in a state of shock are Mighty Jo Young and Azurine Markos.
F.M. Young: No, no, no... Loc Grupo de mierda lobos y un gran ladrón de mierda! Puta Panda de... ¡Joder! ¡No voy a ser el pelotudo con el reinado de tres minutos! ¡JODER!
She dropkicks the trashcan at this point, hitting until her knuckles are bleeding and the thing doesn't look like a trashcan anymore. Mighty Jo comes up, pulling the trash can away, gently pulling an arm on the other woman's shoulder.
Mighty Jo Young: La Hermana, calm down. The trash can didn't do a damn thing to you. It's not the thing you should be mad at. Save your energy and maybe try speaking English for a little bit, huh?
F.M. takes a couple of breaths, her whole body shaking, but she seems to gather it together, to pull it all inside.
F.M. Young: Right, right....You're right, Jo. I've just been seeing red since I came to.
Jo smirks quietly, F.M. laughs softly and looks at Azurine, winking. Azurine blushes softly and nods, having caught most of that.
F.M. Young: The wolves brought me down, an entire battle royal and a pack of wolves. I won that title. Fenryr Wulfsson did every he could. He couldn't keep me down, and I beat him. Then here comes the hyena, yeah I should have beat the shit out of you Kurt....If I was a less honorable woman, if I was a smart woman. I'd have taken your walking out of that Royal as a sign and I'd have locked you in a closet backstage beforehand. But I'm not you. That's just it, I'm not any of them. I'm an honorable woman, not a thief. You could have cashed in that briefcase at any time, hell if you wanted a match at Beta Test, I would have insisted on it. But no, like everyone else, you were too goddamn scared of goddamn Fenryr Wulfsson, to take him on, on your own.
F.M. takes a moment, using a wet napkin her wife hands her to wipe the blood off her face. She grins and points to the cut on her face.
F.M. Young: This is more than a battle scar and this is my story to tell. Next time I see you Kurt, Fenryr...There won't be anybody else to beat the shit out of me for you. There won't be anything protecting you. I don't like hurting people, but right now, I'm mad as hell. When I get my rematch, I'm going to make a point. That I don't care what you do, I don't care how much it takes out of me. I'm getting my World Championship back and not either of you. Not anybody else on this roster is going to stand in my way. You're not going to keep me down and the more fire you give me. The worse it's going to be for you. I'll see you in that ring Kurt.
F.M. seems to be calm, standing with only determination and stubbornness however. She wraps an arm around her wife and nudges her sisters shoulder. The three of them walk off frame, F.M. whistling 'Seven Day to the Wolves.'

OPENING MOMENTS: After years apart, Allen Chaney and Spyke Gein reunite as The Rejects to take on two-thirds of the reigning Trios Champions, Erwin and Damian Kingston, better known as the Queen's Soldiers. Though bumpy at first, Allen and Spyke quickly find their footing, settling back into the groove that won them the BWF Tag Team Titles in 2014.
MOMENTUM: Allen and Spyke impress, but it's possible they may have taken the Kingston brothers a bit lightly, as the Soldiers hold their own against the current Sovereign Champion and the former BWF World Champion, keeping Spyke cordoned off from his corner and preventing Allen from saving his partner.
CLOSING MOMENTS: Spyke eventually breaks away for the hot tag to Chaney, but his Reject partner is nowhere to be seen. Allen, as it turns out, was taunted by the non-legal Kingston, Erwin, and hopped off the apron to give him a piece of his mind. And by that, we of course mean punch him. But a weakened Spyke, with no partner to tag out to, was caught by Jam Master Jay's Special (Suplex Lift into a Powerbomb) and with Allen preoccupied outside the ring, Damian Kingston picked up perhaps the biggest win of his young career thus far.
WINNERS: Queen's Soldiers, via Pinfall (12:51)
AFTERMATH: "N.Y. State of Mind" by Nas hits and Damian rolls out of the ring to celebrate with his brother. Allen, realizing what happened, returns to the ring and tries apologizing to Spyke, but the Sovereign Champion doesn't want to hear it. He angrily brushes Allen off and exits the ring, visibly upset at the turn of events, as Allen sighs, shaking his head in the middle of the ring.
OPENING MOMENTS: Fenryr Wulfsson, fresh off of two months of stewing over his loss of the BWF World Title at Heatwave 2, immediately unleashes his rage upon the unsuspecting half-brother of David Slayton and Sabrina Scott. Jay doesn't even get a chance to fire off any offense as Fenryr lays into Jay with every bit of his anger and frustration.
MOMENTUM: All Fenryr. Jay doesn't get so much as a single blow in as he becomes a pincushion for Fenryr's explosive assault.
CLOSING MOMENTS: Fenryr busts Jay open hard, but the worst is when he throws Jay over the top rope with such force, he flies onto (and through) Webb and Rayne's announcer's table. Several referees head to the ring to put an end to this, but Fenryr scares them all back, dragging the limp body of Blazenwing back into the ring before lifting him up, hitting a completely unnecessary Hel Road (Double Underhook Powerbomb) and covering Jay with one foot for the 1, 2, 3.
WINNER: Fenryr Wulfsson, via Pinfall (5:34)
AFTERMATH: Fenryr's music doesn't even hit as he deadlifts Jay and hurls him out of the ring and onto the ramp like a ragdoll. As officials tend to Jay and a stretcher arrives to take the former International Champion away, Rune Sigidottir hands a fuming Fenryr a mic, and the former Champ loudly proclaims that he's coming for what was stolen from him at Heatwave 2... and god help the souls that try to stand in his way.
Savior/Saboteur
The Champion's Rejoinder
Rayne: Following F.M. Young's cocky, completely braindead Aftershock promo, my main man, Kurt Hullum himself, lowered himself from Mount Olympus long enough to grant the peon he bested at Heatwave 2 a response. Here's what the Champ himself had to say, via BlazenBook...
It was never about you, F.M. It never was and it never will be. Whether or not it was you, Fenryr, or even Danny Hall (both versions), the result would have been the same. Heatwave would have had the exact same ending. It's about the World of Kurt. It's been about the World of Kurt since April 3, 2015, when the first person stepped into my World. Do you remember who that person was? Of course you don't, and no one does. He left the company shortly thereafter and has since fallen deep into irrelevancy.
I am many things but a thief I am not. What I did was well in the rules. I had a contract that gave me a BWF Word Title shot whenever I wanted it, anytime, anywhere. What I did was 100% legal and legitimate. If you're mad, I am not the one at fault. As stated, I held the BWF Money in the Bank granting me this opportunity. The person to blame here is you. If you failed to realize that there was a Money in the Bank holder who could cash in at any time, then that's on you. The only person you can be mad at is yourself.
Your threats do not intimidate me. When you step into the ring with any old person, then that ring is just a ring. When you step into the ring with Kurt Hullum, that ring is my World, and when you step foot in it, you're in the World of Kurt. It's a much different World than you're used to. There are natural disasters in this World that are very unforgiving and will make your stay in my World extremely unpleasant. You've encountered one of them - the Kurtain Kall. If you dare enter my World, I assure you, you will experience more natural disasters that will make you wish you never came.
Yours truly,
BWF World Champion Kurt Hullum

Alison James made her way to the ring, still basking in the glow of her victory over her former partner, Destiny Figgins, at Heatwave 2. She took a mic and said that she went to her sister, Katie, and "requested a match against any single individual who thinks they have what it takes to stop the most intelligent wrestler in the history of the industry of professional wrestling." Alison waited for her opponent, whomever decided to answer the challenge...
...and was surprised as the rest of the Chicago crowd when "Empire (Let Them Sing)" by Bring Me The Horizon hit the BlazenTron!
Nick Webb: No way! Is it?
Rayne: IT IS! It's Billy Way, straight from Empire Wrestling! He's finally made it to the big time!
The fans, despite hating Billy Way for his devious actions as EW Heavyweight Champion over the last year, still can't help themselves and pop as Way makes his way out onto the stage. He taunts Alison, smirking, and makes his way into the ring as the crowd chants "Holy shit!"
OPENING MOMENTS: Alison and Way lock up as the fans kick up an "Empire Wrestling" chant. Webb muses that they must be "fans of the future" as Alison quickly takes control of the match.
MOMENTUM: Way impresses, hitting a few big moves and even suicide diving out of the ring at one point, but when he does so, Alison moves and Way slams into the barricade, landing badly. From that point forward, Alison methodically breaks down Way's defenses, focusing on his neck, no doubt in preparation for the Surface of Revolution.
CLOSING MOMENTS: As expected, Alison lines Way up for the Surface of Revolution (Corkscrew Neckbreaker), but Way counters out of it, fighting back. Alison, out of desperation, hits him with the Bleeding Rose (Sliced Bread #2) instead, then makes her way to the top rope to go for the Mandelbrot Set (Split-Legged Corkscrew Moonsault). As she lines up to launch herself, "Path Vol II" by Apocalyptica feat. Sandra Nasic hits the BlazenTron and the crowd explodes! Alison yells at the entrance ramp, waiting for Destiny to appear... and while Des never comes out, the distraction gives Way the opportunity to recover, running into the ropes and knocking Alison hard to the mat! As she rises, stunned, Way grabs her and drops her with The Billy Way (Swinging Reverse STO) and covers, scoring the 1, 2, 3 upset victory!
WINNER: Billy Way, via Pinfall (13:24)
AFTERMATH: Way's music plays again as he celebrates to a mixed reaction from the crowd; many still hate him, but still popped for the upset victory. (Wrestling fans, am I right?) As he celebrates as though he just won the World Title, Alison exits the ring, groggy and angry. The "most intelligent wrestler in the history of the industry of professional wrestling" has just been outsmarted by her former partner, and she is livid.
Coming Soon on the BWF Network
~ Live from the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota ~
October 31, 2016 - Only on the BWF Network
OPENING MOMENTS: The usual pomp and circumstance happens - challenger and Champion are introduced, the title is held up, so on and so forth. The bell rings, and while Rayne expected Young to shoot out the gate with fury, she remains calm and focused instead, which Webb expects took some doing to get to that point, but "she didn't have much choice, there's too much on the line tonight to risk making a stupid mistake". Young and Hullum trade blows in the early going, each jockeying for position in this Championship match.
MOMENTUM: The Champion gains the early advantage after some back and forth, and begins to work on breaking down Young's defenses methodically. After taking a serious beating, Young turns the tide when she catches Hullum with an enziguri, giving herself a chance to recover and taking back the match with a series of near falls that get the BWF fans out of their seats.
CLOSING MOMENTS: Indeed, it appears as though Kurt's time as BWF World Champion is coming to a close, as Young hits The Oncoming Storm (Tiger Feint Kick)! She covers! 1... 2... 3.... NO! At the LAST possible instant, Kurt gets his shoulder up and the fans lose their minds booing. What we don't know is that they're not booing at Hullum kicking out of Young's finisher, because moments later, Fenryr Wulfsson slides into the ring and throws himself onto both F.M. and Kurt, throwing wild haymakers and attacking them with everything he has! With that, the referee has no choice but to throw the match out, angering the fans in Chicago.
WINNER: No Contest
STILL BWF WORLD CHAMPION: Kurt Hullum
AFTERMATH: Fenryr begins his attack on Champion and challenger in earnest, determined to seemingly put both on the shelf in his quest to get the BWF World Championship back. Fenryr's assault is abated when a not entirely unlikely face sprints out from the back - Sabrina Scott! Scott, chair in hand, slides into the ring and gets a few good hits off on Fenryr, but the former Champ quickly punches the equalizer out of Sabrina's hands, before lifting her up and dropping her with the 9-9-9 (Gorilla Press Slam). Fenryr stands in the middle of the ring, triumphant, as the BWF fans continue to voice their displeasure at the events that just transpired.
The Beta Test Main Event Revealed
As Fenryr stands in the center of the ring, glaring around at Young, Hullum and Scott, "Endless Possibility" by Falk hits the BlazenTron and BWF G.M. Katie Shelley steps out onto the stage, halting the action inside the ring.
Katie Shelley: Enough! Save it for Beta Test, all of you!
A pause, as Fenryr's victims stand, glaring at him, Katie and one another in quick fashion.
Katie Shelley: Last year at Beta Test, four individuals were given the chance to be voted into a World Championship Match against then-Champion Brianna Park. This year, we're going to do things just a tiny bit differently.
The competitors in the ring look at one another before Katie continues.
Katie Shelley: Fans will have the opportunity to vote for either Fenryr Wulfsson... F.M. Young... or Sabrina Scott to face Kurt Hullum in the main event of the program for the BWF World Championship. BUT! There's more!
Katie pauses.
Katie Shelley: The two individuals who do NOT get selected by BWF fans? They're going to team up and face Karli Frost and Eric Ingvar for the BWF Tag Team Championships at Beta Test. And yes, Mr. Wulfsson, that means that you could very well end up battling your own Ragnarok teammates for the gold come Beta Test.
Fenryr angrily yells at Katie, who shrugs him off.
Katie Shelley: FURTHERMORE! Next week on Havok, our last episode before Beta Test, we're going to have a tag team main event! F.M. Young, you will team with Sabrina Scott, and the two of you will face World Champion Kurt Hullum and Fenryr Wulfsson! I'm looking quite forward to that one.
The fans cheer as F.M. and Sabrina look at one another and nod, while Fenryr yells louder and Kurt shakes his head, likely wanting nothing to do with the man who just ended his title match in such brutal fashion.
Katie Shelley: See you four next week... oh, and uh, "game on"!
Katie smirks and winks as "Endless Possibility" by Falk kicks up again and she heads back through the curtain. The four individuals in the ring stare at one another, ready for war, as Havok fades to the BWF logo, and then to black.
