Episode 147 - May 13, 2013
Nick Webb: Monday Night Havok is live from Mobile, Alabama! Welcome, one and all! Tonight, the Happenstance Tournament begins, as we narrow the field of eight skilled combatants down to six. Nessa Wall and Edwin Kerrigan debut as they face off for one of those spots, and Derrick Daze makes his in-ring debut against the #1 Contender for the Sovereign Title, "Godless" Flynn McLoughlin for the other!
Rayne: And that's not all, Nick! In tonight's main event, the BWF World Champion AJ Adams teams with one of his greatest enemies, Zachariah Boone to face their competitor at Happenstance, Kyle Cross and his partner, the dangerous Spectre! We don't even know what's going to happen in that match!
Nick Webb: But right now, we're kicking things off with some high octane ring action, as Elizabeth Davis returns to take on the heroic Spykeman!
The bell rings and Elizabeth Davis quickly locks up with Spykeman!, who tries to whip Liz into the ropes. Liz counters and whips Spykeman! herself, catching the Jade Guardian of Justice with a Lou Thesz press on the rebound. As the match continues, Liz drops her usual tactic of focusing on her opponent's legs, instead trying to catch Spykeman! with whatever impact move she can, getting several near falls in the process.
Nick Webb: Elizabeth Davis changing up her game tonight. I'd bet she's done her homework on Spykeman! and his inability to feel pain.
Rayne: Either that, or Elena Simonova dropped her so hard on her head, she came up as a new woman!
Spykeman! gets a momentary reprieve from this fairly one-sided match when Liz charges him in the corner and he moves, leaving her to splash the turnbuckle. He rolls her up, but she kicks out at two. He picks her up and she drops him with her Wings Clipped (Double Arm DDT) maneuver, putting her right back in the driver's seat. As Spykeman! pulls himself up using the ropes, Liz leaps up and catches him with the Hostile Takeover (Back Stabber) and then pulls him back into the center of the ring before scoring the 1, 2, 3 and the victory.
WINNER: Elizabeth Davis, via Pinfall
"Mr. Night" by Kenny Loggins plays throughout the arena as Liz rolls out of the ring, grinning from ear to ear. She high fives Katrina at ringside and the two head up the ramp, talking excitedly as the Mobile crowd boos.
Nick Webb: Earlier this week in a taped promo, Liz said her goal was to win Happenstance and take home the Crown. But... she's not in the tournament.
Rayne: She's not?
Nick Webb: You know she's not. We've both seen the brackets, via BWF's official Twitter account.
Rayne: Right, right. How long 'til you think she realizes this?
Nick Webb: Not sure, but when she does... I expect Emily Corlen will be getting a mouthful from the spunky Canadian.
Rayne: You mean rather than a mouthful of spunk from a Cana-
Nick Webb: YES, WE KNOW, EMILY DATED MATT STONE. I'm BEGGING you, stop talking right now. (Shudders)
Interviewless
The cameras go backstage at the Mobile Civic Centre, the cameras following Toshi Yang as she wanders behind the scenes of Havok. Her microphone was picking up her mumbling to herself as they marched down the deserted Hallways.
Toshi Yang: Flynn was supposed to meet me around here for his interview...
She muttered to herself a little more before Toshi and the Camera came upon a door that was open just a crack, they could hear low hushed voices inside. One sounding somewhat familiar and other sounding young.
Voice 1: Look, I don't care what it takes, I want it taken care of before the 27th...
Voice 2: I will try sir...
Voice 1: I don't want you to try... I didn't take you in so you could try...
Voice 2: Yes Sir... I-Sir the door.
Toshi and the camera both dove for the nearest piece of cover, hiding away as the door slammed shut. The voices continued however now too muffled to be picked up by the camera.
Toshi Yang: The hell was that...?
The bell rings and immediately, the lovely Nessa Wall gains control of the match with a tie-up into a European uppercut. Kerrigan stumbled backward, dazed, and Nessa followed up with a spinning heel kick for a two count. For the next several minutes, the tone stays the same, with Nessa refusing to let up, but Kerrigan refusing to stay down.
Nick Webb: I'm not sure the Direwolf has gotten a single shot in on Nessa Wall!
Rayne: Huh?
Nick Webb: Pay attention to the match!
Rayne: Sorry, I was writing my wedding vows in my head.
Nick Webb: Oh, lord.
Rayne: Marry me, pretty lady! I'm way hotter than What's-his-face Ford!
In the ring, Nessa hits Kerrigan with the Down Boy (Knee Strike to the Midsection) followed up by the Against The Wall (Spinning Backfist) for the 1... 2... no! Kerrigan gets his foot on the bottom rope and Wall can't believe it! She stands up to question the ref and Kerrigan rolls her up, grabbing the ropes for leverage, but she kicks out right before three! Both competitors rise to their feet and Kerrigan charges Nessa, who catches the Direwolf with a rolling DDT. As Kerrigan rises to his knees, Nessa runs to the ropes, comes back and hits her Kissy Kissy (Stiff Shining Wizard preceded by a Blown Kiss) right in the center of the ring. This time, the three count is academic - Nessa Wall moves on to Happenstance!
WINNER: Nessa Wall, via Pinfall
After the match, Jet's "She's a Genius" starts blaring over the sound system and Nessa climbs the nearest turnbuckle, blowing kisses to the fans in attendance.
Nick Webb: What a move! With that thunderous Shining Wizard, Nessa Wall has emerged successful in her BWF debut and moved on to the final four in the Happenstance Tournament! We'll find out who she'll be facing next week, either Andrew Titus Murphy or Isaiah Mercier!
Rayne: Actually, speaking of, the guys backstage in the truck are informing me that we have Mercier himself backstage right now. Let's see what he has to say!
A Simple Introduction
A member of the camera crew is wandering backstage, recording one of the BWF Locker Room hallways in the Mobile Civic Center. It comes across one door in particular with the nameplate reading Isaiah Mercier.
Isaiah Mercier: Looking for me?
The camera turns in a startle and captures Mercier himself in front of the lens. Mixed reactions commence from the live viewing audience as Mercier smirks.
Isaiah Mercier: How thoughtful, searching for me, the man with such great potential. The man who may possibly become one of the best wrestlers the Blazenwing Wrestling Federation has ever been blessed to have on their roster.
Some of the fans are uncertain about Mercier as they continue to roar with cheers and boos. He chuckles, extends a hand under the lens, and tilts it up towards his face.
Isaiah Mercier: Time passes by real quick, folks. Soon enough, the 2013 BWF Happenstance will dawn on us. Eight competitors; one winner. I intend on having my name etched into Happenstance Royalty, to become the most memorable one of them all. Don't mistake that for arrogance! In reality, it's simply confidence.
He flashes the viewing audience a grin and winks before stepping back and stretching his arms out to his sides. His hands offer a beckoning gesture before he moves his arms in front of him to form a holy cross.
Isaiah Mercier: May God have mercy on your souls, because I sure as hell won't.
Godless and Daze are staring each other down as the sound of the bell is heard, signaling the start of this Happenstance quarter finals match. Both men are speaking, but the camera can't pick up exactly what is being said, however someone’s mother had likely come up as Godless goes for the first right hand and connects swiftly with Daze’s chin. Godless presses the advantage, landing a few more solid punches before he backs Daze up against the ropes and slings him across the ring, lowering his head, Derrick is able to catch him with a hard kick to the chest, straightening Flynn enough to be brought straight back with a leaping clothesline.
Rayne: Hard hitting action to start off, Nick. It looks like both men want this win.
Nick Webb: And with good reason, the winner will be advancing in the Happenstance Tournament!
Bath and forth the action goes, with Derrick getting the slight advantage after a vicious superplex from the top rope, but even still, it only nets a two count. Derrick lifts him back up and pushes him into the corner again, dashing at him; however, Flynn catches him with a foot to the face. Godless spins Daze into the corner and continues to rape his face with elbows. Five, six, seven times, the crowd is counting along with it only because they’re sick and love the violence. Finally Flynn backs up at the request of referee Steve Thompson. Derrick starts to come out of the corner and is toppled over the top rope by Godless’ cactus clothesline! Both men go crashing to the floor. The two of them brawl outside, Thompson getting higher on his count, but he stops when he sees Daze grabbing a steel chair at ringside! Daze swings at Godless who sidesteps, causing Derrick to hit the steel post, a loud noise shooting out through the arena. Daze drops the chair for Godless to pick up. Flynn swings the chair for the fences, and Derrick’s head, but misses as Derrick rolls out of the way, Steven calling for the bell here, disqualifying both men.
WINNER: No Contest (Double DQ)
The fans buzz in confusion as both men start prodding the ref for information.
Nick Webb: Well... what happens now?
Rayne: Are both men out? Can there be a bye in the Happenstance Tournament?
The questions are answered as, moments later, "She's a Rebel" by Green Day hits the BlazenTron and Emily Corlen walks out onto the stage, mic in hand.
Emily Corlen: Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hang on one second. There cannot and will not be a bye in the Happenstance Tournament. Not on MY watch.
Nick Webb: There's your answer, Rayne.
The crowd cheers loudly and the camera momentarily focuses on a sign in the crowd that reads “I Came to See Emily” before settling back on the BWF Owner.
Emily Corlen: Steven Thompson, I am hereby ordering you to restart this match, effective immediately... and this time, let's make it a No Disqualification Match. There WILL be a winner.
The crowd cheers louder as Derrick nods his head in the ring. Godless has disappeared from view even as Emily walks back through the curtain.
Nick Webb: I like this decision from our Owner here, Rayne. Let these two men settle things the old fashioned way!
Rayne: I won't complain - I like me some good old fashioned violence!
As the bell rings again, the sound of the steel chair connecting with the back of Daze’s head is heard. Godless and retrieved the weapon and snuck around while Emily was speaking and was able to get the jump on Derrick. Godless drops the chair on the mat and lifts Derrick up, but somehow Daze slips out! He’s wobbly on his feet, but he manages to catch Flynn with a high kick to the head! McLoughlin backs up and Derrick charges in, but is hit with a knee lift on the approach! Doubling over, Godless is able to pick him up in the air, run over to his chair and drop Daze straight down on top of it with his Purge (Omega Driver)! Steve makes the cover and a three count later, Godless has moved on in the tournament!
WINNER: Godless, via Pinfall
"Godless" by the Dandy Warhols hits the BlazenTron as Flynn stands up, grinning. He leans over Derrick and says something inaudibly before holding his arm in the air to a massive wave of boos from the Mobile crowd.
Rayne: What a sick move! That’s why I retired, to avoid shit like that!
Nick Webb: You can’t say that on television!
Rayne: Yes, we can, this is HBO, and THAT was a hell of a move!
Coming Soon on Pay-Per-View
Welcome to the New Age
Standing in the backstage area is BWF Senior Interviewer Don McMichael. He adjusts his tie and brings the microphone up.
Don McMichael: Ladies and gentlemen, with me at the moment is the BWF World Champion, AJ Adams.
The crowd boos as AJ Adams steps into the camera shot with the title over his shoulder. He looks off from McMichael and waits.
Don McMichael: Adams, tonight you’re being forced to team up with a man you’ve been in the ring against twice and who you’ll be facing at Happenstance and you’ll be taking on a man that will also be in that match. What are your thoughts going into this match tonight?
AJ Adams: Seriously if I’m going to have to put up with stupid questions like this then they need to replace you with Kirsten Shelley and get some eye candy in here.
Adams shakes his head and moves the BWF World Title to his other shoulder.
AJ Adams: My thoughts are that I’m going to go out there and beat Cross and Spectre, plain and simple really. I don’t care what personal issues that Boone and I have because I get to beat his ass, again, at Happenstance.
Don McMichael: Yesterday on Twitter Kyle Cross said the only reason you did what you did last week was because Boone is the only one you know that you can beat.
Adams starts to laugh before there’s even a question.
AJ Adams: Well he is right that I know that I can beat Boone. I showed the world that when I won this championship. I also know that I can beat Kyle Cross.
The fans don’t agree as they start to boo yet again.
AJ Adams: I know, cocky. I’ve said before that I have a respect for the things that Cross has done in this industry but I also still know that I can beat him. It doesn’t matter if it’s one on one, triple threat, or tonight in our tag match. At Happenstance I’m going to prove that to every person watching, everyone that follows Cross on Twitter and to everyone that will ever look at the Happenstance DVDs. I’m going to prove I am exactly what I keep saying I am, the greatest BWF World Champion. Ever. Welcome to the new age, Donald.
Adams shoves the microphone back to McMichael and walks away.
DING DING DING!!!
Scott Benjamin: Ladies and gentlemen, the following tag team contest is your main event of the evening and it is scheduled for ONE fall! Introducing first, he hails from Toronto, Ontario, Canada... weighing in tonight at 238 pounds... he is the Scarred Sentinel... he is KYLE CROSS!!!
"Defy You" by The Offspring hits the BlazenTron and Kyle Cross steps out onto the stage, taking a moment to take it all in before bolting down the ramp and sliding in beneath the bottom rope. He then takes to each turnbuckle in turn, pointing out to the fans, before taking his place in the center of the ring and awaiting the bell.
Nick Webb: Kyle Cross has been making a lot of news this past week with the announcement that he will be facing Scott Free at eWo's Bodycount pay-per-view in the coming weeks. However, this isn't eWo, this is BWF, and tonight, Scott Free cannot be his concern if he plans to walk out of Havok with a victory over both the World Champion and his fellow #1 Contender.
Rayne: I gotta think a win for Cross here would give him all the momentum in the world leading into Happenstance. A win over Adams and Boone at the same time? He'd have to be the favorite at the event hands down!
Scott Benjamin: Introducing his tag team partner, he hails from Manhattan, New York... weighing in tonight at 225 pounds... being accompanied by Cascavel... he is THE SPECTRE!!!
"Devil’s Dance" by Metallica begins to play, as smoke and strobe light effects fill the entrance area. A man dressed in a black business suit emerges, arms outstretched. He wears a black fedora, domino mask, and a red tie. The lovely Cascavel is dressed in a black catsuit with red trim, she circles him and runs a hand down his chest. The Spectre walks to the ring, laughing to himself and wringing his hands, as Cascavel walks behind smiling.
Nick Webb: The Spectre has fumbled a bit since his debut, but a victory here tonight would, at the very least, put him on the shortlist for a shot at Elena Simonova's Sovereign Championship. Maybe more.
Rayne: As long as he's aware that it may very well be Godless' Sovereign Championship by the time he gets a shot at it, sure.
As the lights in the Blazenwing Wrestling Federation simultaneously begin to fade out one by one the arena can be seen in a state of almost complete darkness as a growing echo takes over throughout the BWF arena as The sound of drums and clapping can be heard coming from the PA sound system as the song “Kiss My Country Ass” By Blake Shelton kicks in full force, as it does a single pulsing blue strobe light flickers on. The first few lyrics of the song can be heard, as the lyrics of Blake Shelton's “Kiss My Country Ass” are heard out steps the good ol' southern boy himself, “The Kamikaze Redneck” Zachariah “F'n” Boone, Boone stands at the top of the entrance ramp as the single pulsing blue light shines down upon him, as it does two other lights flicker in on Boone, those lights being Orange, and White colored lights. Boone can be seen having a rebel bandana wrapped around his head, his upper torso can be seen being bare except for the red hooded vest he be seen wearing, the vest can be seen unzipped, The sleeves of the vest can be seen ripped off, the Rebel flag can be seen being the design going across the entire front of it. Boone's Lower half can be seen being covered in a pair of old ripped blue jeans, and a pair of boots as he continues to stand at the top of the entrance looking out into the darkness that surrounds around him.
Scott Benjamin: And their opponents... introducing first, he hails from the Heart of America, Nashville, Tennessee... weighing in tonight at 228 pounds... he is the Kamizake Redneck... he is ZACHARIAH... F'N... BOONE!!!
As Benjamin announces Boone's name, Zachariah begins to walk on down the entrance ramp, he can be seen getting mostly cheers from the nearby fans at ringside, once at the bottom of the ramp Zachariah walks up to the ring, and jump up onto the canvas (viva la Brock Lesnar) Once up on the canvas Zachariah shakes the ring ropes before stepping inside the ring, once inside the ring Zachariah climbs up the nearest ring post and throws one of his arms up, his hand in the formation of a fist (viva la Rock) before jumping back down from the ring post and awaiting for his opponent to come on out to do battle against one another.
Nick Webb: Zachariah Boone came within an eyelash of winning the BWF World Championship a few short weeks ago at Danger Zone, and at Happenstance, he has another chance to make his dream come true.
Rayne: Yeah, he just needs to get past Kyle Cross and AJ Adams, two of the best wrestlers in the world, to do so. Piece of cake!
Scott Benjamin: And finally, introducing his tag team partner, he hails from Los Angeles, California... weighing in tonight at 176 pounds... he is the current and reigning BWF World Champion... he is AJ ADAMS!!!
"Lights Out" by P.O.D. hits the BlazenTron and the lights go dim as blue and red lights begin to search the arena. As a burst of pyro goes off, AJ Adams is seen standing on the stage looking into the ring, the BWF World Championship strapped around his waist. He walks down and sometimes points to the sky. He slides into the ring and climbs one of the turnbuckles. Adams then points out to the crowd and then makes a fist with each hand. He jumps down to the mat and waits his opponent.
Nick Webb: Of all the men in this match, AJ Adams might be the one with the most to lose here. His title's not on the line, but any weakness shown going into his first defense as BWF World Champion will undoubtedly cast aspersions on the likelihood of him retaining the title.
Rayne: Cast what now?
Nick Webb: It means the fans will be less likely to believe he can retain.
Rayne: Oh... why not just say that?
Nick Webb: Why not pick up a dictio... hang on! Look! In the ring!
Indeed, before the bell can even ring, the fight begins, as Cross shoots across the ring to go after Boone, while Adams turns his attention onto The Spectre. They being brawling furiously as senior official Mike Kosiboski struggles to gain control, refusing to start the match until the brawl ends.
Nick Webb: There's no semblance of a tag match here... this might as well be a Pier 6 brawl!
Rayne: Just the way I like it! HA!
On one side of the ring, Kyle Cross has Boone beaten into the corner, attacking his opponent at Happenstance with a flurry of furious blows. On the other side, Adams has Spectre leaned into the ropes and chops him several times across the chest, causing a loud CRACK with each shot and leaving Cascavel to wince powerlessly on the outside.
Nick Webb: This is getting seriously out of hand!
Back in the corner, Boone takes a swing at Cross, but Cross ducks and headbutts Boone hard. As Boone stumbles out of the corner, Cross lifts him up and hits the Crossfire Driver (Vertical Sidedriver {Emerald Fuson Kai})! As the move connects, Boone shifts awkwardly and Cross ends up dropping him on his head hard. Boone immediately rolls out of the ring and spreads out on the outside as ringside officials swarm him.
Rayne: Oh, did you see that!? I think Boone's hurt!
Almost at the same time on the other side of the ring, Adams finishes his beatdown of Spectre and, after a disrespectful slap, jumps up and catches him with a nasty Last Call (Codebreaker), hitting him with enough force to send him flying over the top rope! He flips in midair and lands awkwardly on his right leg, immediately dropping to his back. Cascavel starts calling for help and a handful of techs leave Boone's side to rush over to check Spectre.
Nick Webb: Not just Boone! Spectre might be hurt, too!
Back in the ring, Cross and Adams are now toe-to-toe, and after a tense stare down, they launch into an exchange of blows. The ref tries to break them up, but both men forcefully push him aside and just keep reigning blows on each other.
Rayne: We still haven't gotten a bell! This is AWESOME!
Indeed, the fans are incredibly into the exchange, cheering loudly for Kyle Cross against AJ Adams as both men punch each other again and again with extreme prejudice. After almost a full minute of both men brawling from one side of the ring to another, BWF officials rush the ring and try to separate both men to no avail. As the brawl continues, both men starting to bleed, the locker room finally pours out from the back.
Nick Webb: Here comes the cavalry!
The roster swarms into the ring, with the heels pulling Adams back and the faces pulling Cross back. The crowd starts booing loudly, but the boos explode into raucous cheers as Cross suddenly leaps over the group holding him back and tackles Adams! A few people pull Cross off of AJ, which leaves the BWF World Champion open to return the favor, kicking Cross hard before leaning into him with a series of stiff punches!
Nick Webb: Can nobody get these two under control!?
Rayne: Who would want that? LET THEM FIGHT!
Finally, with the effort of the entire roster, both men are sufficiently separated, though they continue to shout things at one another, inaudible over the massive crowd response.
Nick Webb: We're just about out of time here, but I can't believe how this night is ending! What a fight!
Rayne: And they're just getting started! In two weeks at Happenstance, they can go all they want, and the BWF World Championship hangs in the balance!
Nick Webb: And don't forget Zachariah Boone!
Rayne: If he's not hurt after that nasty Crossfire Driver, you mean!
Nick Webb: Precisely! Folks, that's all for tonight... tune in next week when the Happenstance Tournament continues! For Rayne, I'm Nick Webb... good night from Mobile, Alabama! Good night from Havok!
We see one final shot of the brawl in the ring, as Adams and Cross both break free simultaneously and begin attacking each other again! The wrestlers in the ring fight to separate them again as the show fades to the BWF logo, then to black.
