Episode 220 - February 22, 2016
Nick Webb: We’re one week away from Hearts on Fire and tonight’s event will pit the BWF World Champion AJ Adams against the Jackson Wyatt.
Rayne: Jackson is an idiot for making this match! He’s never competed in the ring and he’s going up against the World Champion. I get that AJ superkicked his wife but there’s other ways to go about this.
Last Name, Ever. First Name, Greatest. Middle Name, Champion.
The fans are given reason to boo right at the start of the show as “Lights Out” by P.O.D. begins to play and the BWF World Champion AJ Adams makes his way out to the stage with a smirk on his face and the title around his waist. He finally made his way into the ring as he looked around, picking up a microphone in the corner. His music began to die down but the boos did not.
AJ Adams: Welcome one and all to a very special evening!
More boos came down from the fans as he walked around the center of the ring.
AJ Adams: 178 days. That’s how long I’ve been the BWF World Champion. I’ve defeated all challengers that have stepped up and shown that no one in BWF can beat me when it counts. 261 days. That’s how long I’ve accumulated as the World Champion during my time in the BWF. That shows that no one that’s stepped foot in the BWF is on my level. Danny Allen who? X who? Anthony Johns who? Mark McNasty who? Outlaw who? Zoe Cooper who? Elena Simonova who? Gabe Shelley who? Not one of those so called champions come close to the champion I am.
The fans dislike that.
AJ Adams: I am the greatest champion ever. Tonight’s the night for everyone to recognize it and show me the appreciation that I rightfully deserve.
AJ puts his arms out and his head back as if he’s soaking in the sunlight and the fans give him a chorus of boos. He stops a few moments later and looks around.
AJ Adams: None of you would know what true greatness was if it kicked you in the ass. You’ve all been living teams like the Bears, Cubs, and White Sox and they’ve given you a false idea of what good is.
The people of Chicago don’t like the disrespect for their teams.
AJ Adams: Tonight’s the final night I get to stand here before I surpass Danny Allen’s longest streak of 182 days as champion. I was going to come out here and accept a plaque but instead it seems that Jackson Wyatt is a little pissy about me kicking the head off of his wife. Now, granted, Elise happened to be in the wrong place, wrong time. If Jackson wants to step into the ring, then it’s his funeral. We’ll have a celebration and a wake all in the same night. Next week I’ll take care of Sabrina or Kurt and continue to reign as BWF’s greatest World Champion.
AJ unsnaps the championship from his waist and holds it up.
AJ Adams: Understand this, folks. I am the greatest plain and simple. No one will prove otherwise! No one is on my level! I am the greatest BWF superstar to ever step foot in this ring!
The fans pop as Sabrina Scott charges down to the ring and slid into the ring. Adams had dropped the championship and the two of them began to brawl. Scott tried to hit the Pocketful of Sunshine (Codebreaker to back of opponent’s head) but Adams was able to get away and roll out of the ring. He grabbed the BWF World Championship and jumped on top of the announcers table. Sabrina was blasted with a clubbing blow from behind by Kurt Hullum as the fans booed once again. Hullum dropped Scott with the Kurtain Kall (Hangman’s Facebuster) as Adams watched on. Hullum pointed out to Adams as we cut away.
Emily Corlen Vs. Eric Ingvar
The rest of Ragnarok [Fenryr, Frost, and Rune] are all ringside for the match. Ingvar and Corlen strike each other and exchange blows back and forth. Corlen landed a few back elbows to the head of Ingvar before hitting him with a scoop slam. She looked to follow it up with an elbow drop but Ingvar rolled out of the way and to his feet. Ingvar grabbed Corlen as she rose and took her down with a STO and applied an armlock. Corlen was able to slip free and quickly applied a triangle choke. Ingvar began to lift Corlen up and dropped her to the mat with a powerbomb and the hold. Ingvar pulled Corlen back up and sent her into the corner. Ingvar unloaded with hard blows to Corlen before she was able to begin battling back with her own shots. Corlen pushed out of the corner and grabbed Ingvar before delivering the Seventh Heaven (Two Handed Chokeslam). Corlen looked for a cover but only got a two count. Ingvar climbed up to his feet and had to duck the Skullcrusher (Chick Kick). Ingvar lifted Corlen up and connected with the Last Argument of Kings (GTS). He rolled Corlen into a cover but only got two. Ingvar pulled Corlen back up and she pushed him into the ropes and caught him with the Spiral Twister (Black Hole Slam). Corlen wanted to end things and Rune jumped on the apron and distracted the referee. Frost came off the top rope looking for the AMRAAM (Missile Dropkick) but Corlen dodged and Frost hit Ingvar. Corlen grabbed Frost and dumped her over the top rope before pushing Rune off. She turned to Ingvar and delivered the Down in Flames (Pedigree) and picked up the win.
WINNER: Emily Corlen, via pinfall 9:43
Nick Webb: The distraction by Ragnarok backfires!
Fenryr and Frost are back in the ring and attack Corlen as soon as the match ends. They get the upperhand quick as they begin their assault. The odds even up as Alison James and Destiny Figgins charge their way to the ring. The Justicars and Corlen are able to get Ragnarok out of the ring as they make their way up the ramp. Emily grabs a mic and says "When your back is against the wall, when the odds are against you, you don't call friends... you call family." At which point both Alison and Destiny remove their t-shirts to reveal Bound by Blood shirts underneath!
Nick Webb: Looks like Destiny is an honorary member of B3!
Luke Mathews Vs. Da Bomb
Da Bomb flipped Mathews down to the mat with an arm drag and applied an arm lock. Mathews rolled back and up to his feet and tossed Da Bomb across the ring. Mathews caught a charging Da Bomb with a powerslam. Mathews took control with some grounded holds and leg submissions but Da Bomb was able to reach the ropes each time. Da Bomb connected with a series of hard forearms as she started to battle back before catching Mathews with a tornado DDT. Da Bomb connected with a swinging neckbreaker before slowly pulling Mathews back up. She went for the Bewm (Reverse Stunner) but Mathews was able to get free. He jumped up and connected with Point Blank (Paydirt). Da Bomb staggered up to her feet and was lifted up for Heaven’s Whisper (Wasteland). Da Bomb rolled behind Mathews with a sunset pin and got two before Mathews popped and flipped Da Bomb’s shoulders onto the mat and picked up a pinfall.
WINNER: Luke Mathews, via pinfall 8:27
Mathews rolled to his feet as Da Bomb popped up and looked around and shook her head. She grabbed her title and rolled out of the ring and just shrugged.

F.M. Young Vs. Brianna Park
Park took an early advantage by attacking the injured hand of Young. Park slammed Young’s hand on the mat as often as possible. Young was sent into the corner where Park slammed her hand into a turnbuckle. Young started to fight back with a handful of kicks before driving a knee into Park’s gut. Young connected with a step up enziguri and rocked Park. Park staggered up to a knee before getting driven back to the mat with a DDT. Young pulled Park up and went to grab her but took a kick right to the hand. Young was hit with a dropkick to the chest that sent her into the corner. Young came out and caught Park with a spear. She covered but Park was able to kick out. Young looked for a clothesline as Park stood but Park was able to duck. Park connected with a wristlock backdrop and Young was in a lot of pain. Young staggered up to her feet and was hit with Seoul Food (Eat Defeat) and covered as Park picked up the victory.
WINNER: Brianna Park, via pinfall 9:40
Consequences
The camera returns from commercial, and we see BWF Co-Owner Jackson Wyatt, not in a suit, but wearing wrestling gear. He throws some punches, no doubt psyching himself up ahead of tonight's main event. BWF Senior Interviewer Don McMichael walks into the shot, mic in hand.
Don McMichael: Excuse me, Mr. Wyatt? Do you have a moment?
Jackson turns and nods to Don.
Jackson Wyatt: What can I do for you, Donnie?
Don McMichael: Sir, tonight, you're facing BWF World Champion AJ Adams in a non-title No Holds Barred Match. I only have one question for you; why?
Jackson smirks.
Jackson Wyatt: C'mon, Don. Why? You know why. You saw the end of last week's show, same as everybody else. Adams crossed a line last week. He kicked my wife in the face. No regret. No apology. He sent Elise to the hospital with a broken nose, Don. And what was his response? He threw himself a goddamn party tonight because he's about to break Danny Allen's World Title record. AJ Adams is a dangerous, reckless man with no regard for anybody but himself. That's all well and fine, I just described a good 40% of wrestlers. But he laid his hands - or rather, his feet - on my wife. My non-wrestling wife. There will be consequences.
Don McMichael: If I may, sir... aren't you also a non-wrestler? I mean, neither you nor your wife has any formal training in the ring whatsoever.
Jackson Wyatt: This is true. That's precisely why Elise and I got this job from Simon Excelsior; the previous owners had a habit of putting themselves in the ring and abusing their power. But this is different. This is one man taking another man to the woodshed because he went after my lady. We're not going to have a submission match or an ironman match or a grappling contest. I may not be trained to wrestle, Don, but I know how to fight, and if needed, I can kick somebody's ass. Tonight, AJ Adams is walking into a fight... and the single greatest asskicking of his career. Because when you attack a man's wife, there will be consequences. But I'm not the type to screw someone over because they pissed me off. I'm a man, and tonight, AJ's going to learn firsthand just what kind of man I am.
Jackson exits the room, ready for his fight later tonight. All Don can do is watch as Havok heads back to ringside.
Nessa Wall Vs. Danny Hall Vs. Spyke Gein
Danny spends the match trying to convince Nessa to talk to him about their issues, and says "We can work through anything, darling!" which obviously irritates and distracts Nessa. After she finally goes off on him in the ring, yelling profanity at him and telling him they were never a couple, Spyke sneaks in and rolls her up mid-argument, scoring the pin while Danny just watches, hurt and dumbfounded at her actions. Rayne mentions Danny might be on a different planet altogether as Spyke celebrates, while Nick iterates that if Spyke pins Nessa in a week's time, he'll be the new Chaos Theory Champion.
BWF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP #1 CONTENDERSHIP
Sabrina Scott Vs. Kurt Hullum
Scott and Hullum stood in the center of the ring as the match was set to get underway. Hullum went back to work on the head of Scott from earlier tonight as he threw a forearm to the face of Scott. He dropped her with a short-arm clothesline and pulled her right back up. Hullum pulled her in and lifted her up and down with a suplex. Scott climbed up to her feet and blocked a forearm and connected with a back elbow to the head. She connected with a series of left and right kicks before jumping up and taking Hullum down with a headscissors takedown. Hullum stood and fell into the corner as Scott came charging over and hit a big corner splash. Scott jumped onto the second turnbuckle and began to throw punches on Hullum. On the sixth punch he lifted her up and as if he was going for a powerbomb and went under her, smashing her face first into the top turnbuckle. Hullum lifted Scott and had her seated on the top rope and jumped to the second ropes. He grabbed her and flipped her around with a powerslam off the second ropes. Hullum covered and picked up two. He pulled her back up to her feet and connected with a snap belly to belly suplex. He stood and went over to the second rope and jumped up before taking off and tossing his elbow pad. Scott stood and turned right into an elbow strike. Hullum pulled Scott back up and set up for the Crash Landing (Snapmare Driver) but Scott dropped and pulled him down with a school boy pin for two. They both popped up to their feet and Scott caught Hullum with a step up enziguri that caused him to twist and fall to a knee. He crawled forward and leaned on the second ropes as Scott came and hit the Blue Light Special (619). She positioned herself and springboarded in as he stood and looked for the Seeing Stars (Colliding Headbutt) but Hullum caught her with a powerslam. He pulled her up to her feet and connected with the Crash Landing. Scott staggered to her feet as Hullum looked for the California Dreaming (Omega Driver) but Scott flipped behind him and landed on her feet. She jumped up and hit Pocketful of Sunshine (Codebreaker to back of opponent’s head) and covered for the victory.
WINNER: Sabrina Scott, via pinfall 14:29
Nick Webb: Sabrina Scott is going to Hearts on Fire!
Rayne: Kurt put up one hell of a fight here tonight but Sabrina would not quit. She wants AJ in the ring next week.
Scott celebrated briefly in the ring before heading to the back.
Changing of the Guard
The camera shifts backstage, where we see Sabrina Scott chatting excitedly with Dagger, Emily Corlen, Alison James and Destiny Figgins. Em, Ali and Des congratulate Sabrina before leaving her and Dagger alone. That privacy is very short lived, however, as Akoda Yang shows up for an interview.
Akoda Yang: Miss Scott. A moment?
Sabrina Scott: Uh, yeah! Sure!
Akoda bows curtly and continues. His English has improved over the years, but unlike his sister, Akoda's accent is still as thick as ever.
Akoda Yang: You beat Mister Kurt tonight to keep your title dreams alive. How do you feel, winning such an important match just one week before you face AJ Adams for the BWF World Title?
Sabrina Scott: Y'know... excited, hopeful, heck, definitely nervous. I don't relish the thought of facing my ex-boyfriend one on one, but I nearly won at WrestleFest and I pinned him to the mat at Broken Resolutions. The world knows I can beat Andrew. Now, I just have to do it when it counts.
Off-screen, a familiar voice can be heard.
Mystery Voice: Putting too much pressure on yourself is the first mistake.
Sabrina and Dagger turn and the crowd pops huge as BWF Hall of Famer "Stutterfly" Starla Gardevoir steps into view, her newly-won AXW World Championship slung casually over her shoulder.
Sabrina Scott: Miss Starla! I'm a HUGE fan!
Starla chuckles.
Starla Gardevoir: Please, call me Starla. Or Katie. Or "Champ". Really digging that last one.
She grins, continuing.
Starla Gardevoir: Take it from someone who struggled to get to the mountaintop, Sabrina. The only person standing between you and that title is yourself. You have to conquer that little voice inside your head that tells you you're not good enough if you hope to have any chance of beating AJ Adams at Hearts on Fire. Do that...
Starla pats the title on her shoulder.
Starla Gardevoir: ...and you just might walk out of Phoenix, Arizona with one of these. The key is remembering to believe in yourself. Every one of these BWF fans, everybody in this locker room, they're all ready for a changing of the guard. Sabrina, they're ready for you. Don't you dare deny them that moment. Don't you deny yourself of that moment. Because when that moment comes... there's no greater feeling in the world.
Sabrina grabs Starla and gives her a giant hug. Dagger watches on, almost looking the slightest bit jealous.
Sabrina Scott: Thank you. I'll do my best!
Starla Gardevoir: Just go out there and be you. Trust me; you're good enough. Your late fiancée knew it, your friends and fans know it, and we're all rooting for you. Don't make them wait ten years like I did. Go out there next week, be amazing, and leave as the new BWF World Champion.
Starla ruffles Sabrina's hair and smirks.
Starla Gardevoir: Now, do the new AXW Champ a favor... grab me a water? I can't find any.
Sabrina Scott: Sure thing!
Sabrina races off without a second thought, leaving Starla and Dagger alone. There's an awkward pause before Dagger starts to follow Sabrina, but Starla steps in front of her.
Starla Gardevoir: Hold up.
Dagger: ...what are you -
Starla Gardevoir: She'll come around. Don't worry.
Dagger gives Starla a quizzical look.
Starla Gardevoir: The way you look at Sabrina, it's pretty obvious.
Dagger doesn't say anything, but blushes slightly.
Starla Gardevoir: I'm telling you, she feels the same way. She just doesn't know it yet. Give her time.
Starla winks at Dagger, pats her on the shoulder, and then walks off. A moment later, Sabrina returns with a bottle of water.
Sabrina Scott: Where did she go? Starla? STARLA?
Dagger doesn't reply to Sabrina, who goes running off screen again in her attempt to deliver the water. Instead, Dagger stares off into the distance, pondering Starla's words, her lips curving into the slightest hint of a smile as Havok fades to commercial. (And yes, Akoda is still standing by, not saying a word. Consummate professional, that one.)

NO HOLDS BARRED
AJ Adams Vs. Jackson Wyatt
Jackson stood in the ring wearing some makeshift wrestling gear as AJ started to make his way to the ring. Wyatt rolled out of the ring on the far side and ducked down and looked under the ring. Adams took the BWF World Championship off and put it on the apron as he started to walk around the ring towards Wyatt. Wyatt went around the other side of the ring and snuck up behind Adams and landed a hard kendo stick shot to the back as the fans roared in cheers. Wyatt began to unload strikes on Adams. One, two, three, four, five strikes before Adams turned and grabbed the kendo stick and yanked it away. Wyatt climbed into the ring quickly as Adams went after him. Wyatt tried stomping on Adams as he rolled into the ring but Adams powered to his feet. Wyatt connected with a right hand that was returned with a vicious lariat by Adams that dropped Jackson. Wyatt stumbled to his feet and was grabbed by Adams and hit with an overhead t-bone suplex. Adams stood and stomped a few times on Wyatt and kicked him out of the ring. Wyatt crawled away as Adams finally climbed out after him. Wyatt grabbed a folding chair belonging to Scott Benjamin and drove it into Adams’ gut and cracked it over his back. Adams staggered away and Wyatt tried to charge at Adams but was hit with a kick to the gut. Adams grabbed the chair and cracked it over Wyatt’s back and dropped him to the floor. Adams tossed the chair into the ring before pulling Wyatt up and rolled him into the ring. Wyatt tried to crawl away but was grabbed by Adams and pulled to his feet. Adams lifted Wyatt up and connected with the trifecta suplexes and rolled up to his feet with a smirk on his face. Wyatt crawled and tried to use Adams to stand as Adams pulled him into position and hit the Legacy Maker (Sister Abigail), covering for the win.
WINNER: AJ Adams, via pinfall 6:05
Rayne: Talk about an easy win for AJ. Outside of a few shots from Jackson this match was never in question.
Nick Webb: I don’t think AJ is done. I think he’s going to send a message to Jackson.
Adams grabbed the chair in the ring and began to unload swings downward at Wyatt. The fans cheered as Sabrina Scott rushed for the save and dove into the ring. She stood and pleaded with AJ to stop. Without hesitation he cracked the chair over her skull and blood trickled from her head.
Nick Webb: AJ has a soulless look in his eyes. He’s a man possessed with the championship.
Both Jackson and Sabrina are laid out and both bloody from the attack by AJ. He tossed the chair down before rolling out of the ring.
Rayne: We could be looking at the end of Hearts on Fire. Adams will do anything to keep the championship in his possession.
Nick Webb: If AJ has his way the rest of the year will look like tonight, bodies lining the path from here to WrestleFest X in December.
Adams left with the World Championship in hand. No smile, no smirk, he looked off to nothing as the camera faded to black, the logo, and then black.

He dropped her with a short-arm clothesline and pulled her right back up. Hullum pulled her in and lifted her up and down with a suplex.
