Heatwave - August 28, 2015
Nick Webb: Hello everyone! Welcome to BWF Heatwave!
Rayne: The first one ever!
Nick Webb: And what a show we have on tap for you all. Tonight the BWF Sovereign Championship will be defended in a first ever Ultimate X match! The rules are simple. Two cables, connected to metal structures rising from the four corners of the ring, cross 15 feet above the middle of the ring. The Sovereign Championship will be hung where the cables cross and ladders are prohibited from being used.
Rayne: I’m really excited to see that match tonight. There’s a lot of quality competitors in it with a lot of heated rivals as well. Same goes for tonight’s Tag Team Title match as The 323 will be taking on the Justicars and it’s clear they don’t like each other. Then there’s also X and Jonathan Fhenix and we all know the dislike those two have for each other.
Nick Webb: That’s right. If it weren’t for Fhenix we could have been seeing X in tonight’s main event. It was AJ Adams that won the right to compete against Elena Simonova here tonight. These two have had a handful of matches against each other and they’ve always been great. I look back at their Legacy X match as probably one of the greatest BWF matches since the relaunch two years ago and maybe one of the top 5 of all time. Let’s see what sort of classic they can put on here.
Rayne: I think we’ll be saying the same thing tonight with Gabe Shelley and Jacob Figgins. You have Shelley, arguably one of the greatest BWF superstars and World Champions of all time going up against an icon in many parts of the wrestling world, Jacob Figgins. He comes from a family of wrestlers and is a former World Champion in his own right.
Perez and James are going to start things off for their respective teams as the referee shows off the Tag Team titles before the match. As the bell sounded Perez and James were quick to lock up. James opened things up with a hard chop across the chest of Perez. She followed it up with a second but Perez quickly drove his knee into her gut. He locked up with her and delivered a snap suplex in the middle of the ring. Perez grabbed James by her hair and pulled her to her feet. Perez sent James into the ropes and caught her with a back drop. James rolled to her feet and leaped with a spinning wheel kick. Perez hit the mat and bounced right up and the two locked up once again. James locked in a side headlock but was pushed into The 323 corner. Perez charged and hit James with a hard clothesline and tagged to Torres. Torres entered the ring and they hit a double hip toss on James. James tried to crawl to her corner but was grabbed by her foot and pulled to the center of the ring. Torres pulled James to her feet but she jumped up and connected with a jawbreaker. James hit the ropes and dropped the staggered Torres with a shoulder block. Torres staggered into the ropes and James whipped him into her corner. James tagged out to Figgins and she jumped into the ring. She landed a series of kicks to the side of the cornered Torres. Figgins grabbed Torres by the head and ran, connecting with a running bulldog. Figgins hit the ropes as Torres started to stand and connected with the Tony Jaa (Running Knee Bash). She looked for a cover as she hooked a leg. One… two. and broken up by Perez.
Nick Webb: The Tag Team Champions really coming out strong here tonight.
Rayne: Torres needs to start to try and overpower them. He’s best when he’s able to show off his strength.
Torres is able to get to his feet and caught a running crossbody attempt from Figgins. Torres is able to deliver the .38 Special (Gunnslinger). Torres tagged out to Perez and Perez jumped into the ring. He hit the ropes as Figgins started to get on all fours and he connected with a dropkick to the side of the head. He pulled her up to her feet and set her up for a powerbomb. He looked for the Got Popped (Powerbomb Lungblower) but Figgins reversed into a headscissors takedown. Figgins dove and made a tag to James and she came in hot. She clotheslined Perez down and he rolled to his feet. James hit the ropes and came back with the Axis of Rotation (Double Tilt-a-whirl Headscissors Takedown). Perez rolled to his corner and was able to reach the extended hand of Torres. Torres climbed into the ring and ducked under a clothesline from James before delivering a release German suplex. James rolled to her feet but Torres quickly rocked her with the Chimuelo (Superman Punch). He hooked a leg for a cover. One… two and a kickout. Figgins cheered her partner on as Torres started to pull her up. He picked her up and looked for the Boyle Heights Beat (Big Ending) but James was able to struggle to her feet behind Torres. She grabbed Torres and delivered the Bleeding Rose (Sliced Bread #2) and both were down. They both crawled to their corners and the crowd popped when James hit the tag to Figgins. Figgins and Perez both entered quick and Figgins hit a running forearm. Perez rolled to his feet and whipped Figgins towards the corner but she ran up the posts and launched back with a leg lariat. Perez started to stagger to his feet and Figgins hit the Destiny Hammer (Corkscrew Scissor Kick). She tagged to James and Figgins speared Torres through the middle ropes to the floor. James readied herself and delivered the Mandelbrot Set (Split-Legged Corkscrew Moonsault) and covered. One… two… three!
WINNERS AND STILL BWF TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: Justicars of Illium, via pinfall [12:52]
Rayne: The Justicars did it again!
Nick Webb: It was an impressive showing and we’re off to a great start tonight, Rayne.
Figgins rolled back into the ring and celebrated briefly with James before Torres slid into the ring. Perez got to his feet and looked around the arena and shook his head. The 323 extended their hands out to the Justicars that got a pop from the fans. James and Figgins go to accept but are blindsided with blows from Perez and Torres. They’re met with hard right hands that catch them off guard. Torres hit Figgins with the Gravedigger (Uranage) and James battled with Perez. Perez dropped James with the Green-Lighted (Jumping Complete Shot) and started to shout at her. Torres pulled James to her feet and set her up for the Boyle Heights Beat and Perez jumped to the second rope. He dove and they hit a BHB/Rodeo Drive (Jumping DDT from Second Ropes) combo as the fans booed them.
Nick Webb: And The 323 have left the champs down and out. Disgusting.
Rayne: They want those titles and have sent a message that they aren’t done with James and Figgins. I’d be shocked if this is the last time we see these two teams go at it.
The Arrival
We get an “Earlier Today” in the bottom right corner of the screen as we’re shown the backstage area. A black car pulls into the back lot and into a large garage opening, straight into the backstage. It comes to a stop and the back door opens and out climbs Jacob Figgins to a cheer from the fans. He opens the popped trunk and pulls out his suitcase and rolls it behind him as he heads towards the locker room.
Nick Webb: A nice welcome for Jacob Figgins as he’s being shown arriving earlier tonight. He’s spent a lot of his career wrestling in this part of the country.
The camera showed a different part of the backstage area as we see Gabe Shelley walking up to the building from the outside, along a barricade that’s lined with fans. He has his duffle bag over his left shoulder and signs a few autographs for the fans. He waves and heads inside the backstage area and says hello to a few of the backstage hands as the fans cheer.
Nick Webb: And there’s Gabe arriving earlier today. It’s Gabe’s first match since April but he assures us that he’s been able to knock off any “ring rust” before tonight.
Rayne: I think the fans are in for a real treat with this match tonight.
Before the match we saw a quick shot in the gorilla position where Young tossed the Heatwave event shirt she had been wearing over to EW’s Alexander King and smiled. King wished her luck as she ducked through the curtain. We got a shot of the referee holding the International Title up high as both Silver and Young didn’t take their eyes off it. The bell sounded and Silver and Young shared a quick handshake to start things off. Silver and Young exchange forearm blows to the head before Silver hit a back elbow to stagger Young. Young landed a stiff kick to the side of Silver. She looked for a second kick but Silver was able to grab her leg and drive his elbow into the knee. He spun her to the ground and locked in a leg lock. Young was able to power herself to the ropes to break the hold. She got to her feet and was quickly taken down with a chop block by Silver. Silver quickly dropped an elbow onto Young’s knee and applied pressure on it before getting kicked off. Young and Silver rolled to their feet and Young was able to duck under him and caught him with a neckbreaker. Young pulled Silver to his feet and sent him into the corner. She charged and connected with a corner splash but some of the effects of Silver’s attack on her knee could be seen as she walked around the ring to try and stretch it. Silver had staggered to the center of the ring and Young climbed to the second rope. She looked for a diving bulldog but Silver was able to move out of the way. Silver looked to roll her up with a school boy pin as she stood. One… two and a kickout. Young started to roll to her feet and took a hard snap kick to the gut. Silver looked for a standing dropkick but Young was able to avoid it. She grabbed Silver and locked in the Dead End (Gogoplata) in the center of the ring.
Rayne: DEAD END!
Nick Webb: Young has him dead to rights!
Silver struggled but couldn’t reach the ropes and was locked in the move. Silver positioned himself and was able to pin the shoulders of Young to the mat. One… two.. Young had to release the Dead End to break the pin. She rolled to her feet and Silver got to his as the fans gave them a cheer. Silver looked to whip Young into the corner but she reversed it. Young ran up the corner and came back with the Silver Screen Highlight (Whisper in the Wind) and both were down as the referee started his count. One… two… three… four and they start to stir. Silver got to his feet just before Young. Silver started to lift Young to his shoulders but Young struggled and reached out, grabbing the ropes. Silver dumped her onto the apron. Silver looked to drive his shoulder into her gut but Young caught him with a knee to the head. He stumbled and fell to the mat and Young climbed the nearest corner. She dove and connected with the Midnight Overdrive (Shooting Star Senton) and laid her back onto Silver for a cover. One… two.. kickout! Young and Silver staggered to their feet and exchanged slow lefts and rights. Young was staggered by a hard elbow to the side of the head. Silver grabbed her and delivered the Colorado Silver Boom (Sitout Swinging Sideslam) and rolled her into a cover. One… two.. and a kickout by the champ. Silver slowly pulled Young to her feet and she dug deep and exploded, lifting Silver to her shoulders. Young delivered the Boom Pow (GTS) to the cheer of the fans as she fell onto Silver. One… two… three!
WINNER AND STILL BWF INTERNATIONAL CHAMPION: F.M. Young, via pinfall [14:29]
Young used the ropes to pull herself up and leaned against them as she was handed the International Championship. She held it close as Silver started to come to. She walked over to him and the two shook hands to the delight of the crowd.
Nick Webb: What a tremendous match between two great competitors. Young has really turned the corner here in the BWF and Silver is always a delight to watch.
Rayne: The fans are walking away happy with that one.
The fans were absolutely buzzing before the match started and these two men started going at it before the referee ever signaled for the bell. X and Fhenix came to blows and and began to brawl. X hammered on Fhenix and clotheslined him over the top ropes. He pumped his fists and got the fans cheering. Fhenix climbed to his feet and grabbed a X fan-sign in the front row and ripped it in half. He climbed into the ring and the two men locked up. This time Fhenix unloaded with hard right hands and backed X into the corner. Fhenix speared his shoulder into the gut of X multiple times before grabbing him. He looked for a bulldog but X pushed him away and into the corner. X charged a hit a big corner splash. X pulled Fhenix out of the corner and dropped him with a scoop slam. X looked for a jumping leg drop but Fhenix rolled out of the way. Fhenix caught X with a snap side kick to the gut that doubled him over. He drove an elbow into the back of X’s head before taking him down with a snap DDT. Fhenix rolled to his feet and threw his arms out and the fans booed. X climbed to his feet but was hit with another kick to the gut. Fhenix locked in a sleeper hold and tried to force X to his knees. He kicked X in the back of a knee to force him to drop. Fhenix applied pressure and X tried to fight back. He pushed off and made Fhenix go hard into the corner, back first. X pulled Fhenix out to the center of the ring and connected with a sit-down two handed chokeslam. He looked for a cover and hooked a leg. One… two and a kickout right after. Fhenix tripped up X and quickly jumped on top of him and began to throw wild punches at him to the count of five and broke. He pulled X to his feet and connected with a gutwrench suplex. X rolled to his feet and Fhenix was there with a big spinebuster. Fhenix slowly pulled X to his feet and pushed him into the ropes. X came back and was hit with the Stock Market Crash (Sky High) and Fhenix rolled into a cover. One… two.. kickout by X. Fhenix was very calm as he pulled X up and X drove his knee into the gut and grabbed Fhenix from behind. He lifted Fhenix and dropped him with the belly to back full nelson drop.
Nick Webb: That might be it!
X rolled Fhenix into a cover. One… two.. and kickout by Fhenix. Fhenix rolled out of the ring and tried to regain his composure. X went to lean out of the ropes to grab him and Fhenix turned and hit him hard with a right. Fhenix grabbed X by the head and pulled him through the ropes and hit the Tragic Hero (RKO)!
Nick Webb: Did you just see that!?
Rayne: Fhenix just pulled X THROUGH the ropes and drove him into the floor.
The referee had begun his ten count and Fhenix was back to his feet at six. He pulled X up and rolled him into the ring and climbed in after him. X started to crawl to his feet and was hit with the Sudden Reality (Running Knee Trembler) by a charging Fhenix. Fhenix yelled at X to “stay down” and X kept trying to make his way to the ropes for support to stand. X got to his feet and Fhenix charged again and ran into a back elbow. Fhenix staggered and X locked in the Straight Jacket (Half Nelson/Half Chickenwing). Fhenix refused to tap out and was able to push X into the corner to try and break the hold but X refused to let go. Fhenix drove him into the corner again and broke the hold. Fhenix looked for another Tragic Hero but X pushed him away and Fhenix ran right into the referee. The referee fell to the mat hard. X looked for a clothesline but Fhenix hit another Stock Market Crash. He rolled out of the ring and grabbed a chair and went back into the ring. He drove it hard into the gut of X as the fans booed. “This is your fault, David?” echoed throughout the arena as Fhenix screamed at X.
Rayne: That’s enough! Fhenix is taking his anger on David Slayton out on X.
As Fhenix attacked X with the chair, "The Phoenix" by Fall Out Boy hit the BlazenTron and the fans started buzzing.
Nick Webb: Jay Blazenwing!?
Fhenix, chair in hand, turned his attention to the entrance, but nobody came out. The music stopped and Fhenix shook his head, smirking.
Rayne: Guess the kid had cold feet.
Nick Webb: Maybe he - NO! LOOK!
Rayne: Are you KIDDING me!?
The crowd roared loudly as Fhenix turned with the chair above his head... and was hit with the Full Effect (Superkick) by none other than David Slayton!!! The fans exploded as Fhenix hit the mat! X crawled onto Fhenix as Slayton shook the referee alert. One… two… three!
WINNER: X, via pinfall [14:51]
Slayton helped X to his feet and patted him on the back.
Rayne: Slayton is here!
Nick Webb: I guess he’s had enough of Jonathan Fhenix running his mouth. The founder of BWF came out here and saved his friend from any serious harm as Fhenix was not going to stop.
Slayton and X start to make their way up the ramp as Fhenix comes to in the ring and is fuming. He reaches for the referee but the referee is able to get out of the ring in time. He shouts at Slayton to come back down to the ring as Slayton just smiles.
Hear Me Roar!
Backstage within the interview area, the camera focuses on BWF Interviewer Will Irwin. The happiest smile on his face, he seems really eager about something.
Will Irwin: Hey guys and gals, I'm really excited for this interview! Standing next to me is none other than the beautiful Rainbow Angel, Xaria Linette!
The fans watching explore with huge cheers as the camera zooms out and reveals Xaria herself, smiling and waving. Will proceeds with the interview.
Will Irwin: Xaria, how are you feeling tonight? How's your ankle?
Xaria Linette: I'm feeling pretty good, Monsieur Will. As for my ankle...
The camera zooms out a little more and catches her bouncing foot-to-foot without any consequences.
Xaria Linette: It's fully healed and I'm ready to kick some butt in the BWF!
Will Irwin: That's great to hear! Ah, Xaria, you seem to have some paint on your lips and neck...
Xaria blinks and pulls out a small compact mirror from her jeans pocket. She opens it to look at the red, black and white paint on her lips and neck, giggling softly.
Xaria Linette: Oh my! I'm sorry about that...
She retrieves a handkerchief from her back pocket and uses it to gently wipe the paint away. He can't help but slightly look her up and down, her blouse and jeans complimenting her natural curves.
Xaria Linette: Am I okay now, monsieur?
Will Irwin: Oh, you're more than okay, angel... I-I mean, yeah! You're good! Anyways, on the August 14th episde of Havok, Honor Club lost the BWF Trios Championship titles to Ragnarok. You had a few words to say on the Aftershock, even going so far as to claiming you had a 'tag-team curse'. What's up?
Xaria Linette: Well... It's quite simple. When I first started in my wrestling career, I was primarily a singles wrestler. I was the first LWA Crossfire Division Champion. I was the last LWA Undisputed World Champion. I accomplished these feats within four months. Now, when LWA closed and eWo opened, management decided to team me up with Alexis Skyes. As the Thundercats, we became one of the longest-running eWo World Tag-Team Champions. While it was a blessing, it was also the start of a curse. In my career, I would go on to become a multiple-time Tag-Team Champion with two other partners, James Dean and Gabe Shelley. I would be the eWo Commonwealth Championship and become one-half of the BWF World Tag-Team Champions before I took a personal hiatus. And here I am, four years later, formerly one-third of the BWF Trios Champions alongside Kaito and Sabrina...
She takes a deep breath and sighs.
Xaria Linette: But the critics are doubtful again. They say 'Xaria Linette is a great tag-team wrestler. She has redefined what the tag-team division of the wrestling industry is. But as a singles competitor, she fails to capitalize.' They've forgotten about my accomplishments, criticize my abilities as a wrestler. To be quite honest, I'm tired of the doubt. I'm tired of the criticism. I mean no offense to Kaito and Sabrina, I care for them dearly, but I NEED to prove my self-worth in singles competition. Look at where they are right now. They're both competing for the BWF Sovereign Championship tonight, a championship I never had the opportunity to challenge for because of the lack of votes on Beta Test. I'm through with waiting for my opportunities. I'm done with only being booked in tag-team or trios matches. If the Wyatt's can hear me, I want singles matches! I need singles gold!!
Will naturally backs up when Xaria's intensity spikes. Of course the fans are cheering for her, supporting the Rainbow Angel every step of the way. She catches herself and takes slow, deep breaths to calm herself down.
Xaria Linette: Desolé... I'm just... frustrated. I'm an LWA Hall of Famer. I'm a multiple-time champion. I've worked hard and fought hard to finally make my return to the ring this year. I don't want to be known solely as a tag specialist. I want to be a wrestler, one of the best wrestlers the world has ever seen. But I can't do that if I'm not given the opportunities I need to prove myself... So I might as well take them in my own hands.
Will Irwin: Well, I... aside from being glad that you didn't punch me, I'm supporting your cause, Xaria. Good luck to you.
Xaria Linette: Merci Monsieur Will. Enjoy the rest of the pay-per-view, oui?
Offering him a gentle smile, she dismisses herself from the interview area and leaves Will a bit stunned.
Nick Webb: What in the world is Xander Strife doing in the ring?
Rayne: He’s here to… I got nothing.
Nick Webb: I’m getting word he’s actually going to compete.
The fans look on as Strife warms up for whatever is coming. The BlazenTron lights up for the next segment.
All You Need is Luv
We see a seemingly empty room, save an old record player, opened, but without a record on it. Onto the scene comes a pair of hands, as we see the sleeves of a tan suit, holding a record. The record is placed on the player, the needle lowered, as the sounds of “Back In Love Again” by L.T.D. and Jeffrey Osborne is heard, in all it’s sweet 1970’s glory. The chorus plays as we see a man with curly blonde hair, a tan suit with hot pink tie, and amber wrap around shades sliding into view, really cutting a rug with a strut and a spin, running his fingers through his hair before tilting his head back with a sly grin. This man is known to the masses as… LEONARD LUV!
Leonard Luv: Did ya miss me, Daddy-O? Back in LUV again!
Luv struts as the crowd is mixed in response as we cut from this scene to the top of the ramp as we hear..
HOLD UP, WAIT A MINUTE, PUT A LITTLE LOVE IN IT!
Pink pyros explode as “Love Addict” by Family Force Five blares, Leonard Luv emerging in a hot pink and purple singlet with matching boas, shades still on his face as he struts it up, arm in arm with his longtime girlfriend, European supermodel Inga Lovegood, and the looming bodyguard Brutus behind them as they make their way to the ring!
Strife stepped right into a hard chop across the chest as Luv and the crowd “wooed”. Luv connected with a back elbow before sending Strife into the ropes. Strife ran right into a big back drop that sent him high into the air before crashing down hard. He staggered to his feet as Luv started to strut. He lifted Strife up and delivered an impressive stalling brainbuster! Strife crawled to his feet and was grabbed from behind as Luv hit the Luv Handle (Spinning Killswitch) and covered. One… two… three!
WINNER: Leonard Luv, via pinfall [3:15]
Luv rolled to his feet in victory as Strife rolled out of the ring. Luv’s entourage climbed into the ring to celebrate with him briefly before commercials.
We were set for the next match as Maverick handed off his Chaos Theory Title and immediately attacked Lewis. Maverick sent Lewis into the ropes and caught him with a hip toss. Lewis rolled up to his feet but was taken down quickly with an arm drag. Maverick quickly applies a grounded arm wrench on Lewis in the center of the ring. Lewis is able to slip away and quickly locked up with Maverick. Lewis took Maverick down with a swinging neckbreaker. He climbed to his feet and slipped out of the ring and started to look under the apron. He started to toss in a few items that included a “pedestrian crossing sign”. two trash cans, and a trash can lid. He climbed into the ring and Maverick was to his feet and they locked back up. Maverick ducked behind Lewis and delivered a belly to back suplex. Maverick grabbed the sign and turned back to Lewis. Lewis hit a standing dropkick on Maverick and started to get fired up. He grabbed one of the trash cans and smashed it on Maverick to the delight of the fans. Maverick started to sit up and Lewis placed the trash can over Maverick’s head. Lewis kicked Maverick in the chest and made him lay back. Lewis hit the ropes and delivered the Rolling Kumquats (Rolling Thunder) onto Maverick still in the trash can. Lewis removed the trash can and covered. One… two and a kickout.
Nick Webb: Very innovative there by Kumquat Kid.
Lewis pulled Maverick to his feet and sent him into the corner. Lewis charged and ran into a big boot. Lewis staggered and turned back to Maverick and was hit with the OF!MF! (Running Shotei). Lewis hit the mat and Maverick looked for a cover. One… two and a kickout. Maverick grabbed the sign and smashed it into the face of Lewis as he sat up. Maverick put the sign on Lewis’ chest and jumped up, dropping a knee across it. Lewis rolled and climbed to his feet slowly. Maverick grabbed Lewis from behind and delivered a German suplex right into the trash can. He arched and looked for a pin. One… two and a kickout. Lewis used the ropes to get to his feet and Maverick charged and Lewis dropped, sending Maverick over the top ropes to the apron. Lewis suplexed Maverick back into the ring and on to the bent up trash can. Maverick rolled out of the ring and Lewis chased after him. Maverick grabbed Lewis and sent him face first into the ring post and then bounced his head off the steel steps. Maverick rolled Lewis into the ring and followed after him. Lewis hit a jawbreaker on Maverick as he grappled with him. Lewis jumped to the top ropes and quickly dove, looking for the Five Alive Frog Splash (Five Star Frog Splash) but Maverick rolled out of the way. Lewis staggered to his feet and walked into Maverick waiting, lifting him up and delivered the Welcome to DC (Reverse GTS). He covered and hooked a leg. One… two… three!
WINNER AND STILL BWF CHAOS THEORY CHAMPION: Johnny Maverick, via pinfall [12:44]
Maverick snatched the Chaos Theory Title away from the referee and just rolled out of the ring.
Pre-Match Warm-Up
The camera shifts backstage to the locker room of the BWF World Champion, where we see Elena Simonova preparing for her upcoming title defense. A knock at the door interrupts her stretching, to which she glimpses over at the door.
Elena Simonova: Come in.
The door opens and Elena immediately relaxes as she glances back over at the door, a coy smile stretching across her face.
Elena Simonova: Hey, babe. You get in alright?
The figure takes a few steps forward and walks into frame. The crowd pops as he responds with a smile of his own.
David Slayton: 'Course I did. St. Louis loves me.
Without missing a beat, Elena walks over to Slayton and wraps her arms around his neck.
Elena Simonova: Well, I believe I can see why St. Louis might think that way.
David Slayton: Yeah?
Elena Simonova: Yeah.
Elena leans in and kisses David passionately, eliciting a loud "ooooh!" from the crowd.
David Slayton: Y'know, I can't imagine that ever getting old.
Elena Simonova: Trust me, I'm an expert at keeping things fresh; among other things.
She winks at Slayton before walking over and sitting down next to her title.
David Slayton: You ready for tonight?
Elena Simonova: As ready as I can be. You?
David Slayton: I already did what I came here to do. Now I'm all about supporting that ass.
Slayton grins as Elena chuckles, lobbing her empty water bottle at his head playfully.
David Slayton: Yeah, yeah. You love me.
Elena Simonova: Do I, now?
David Slayton: Of course you do. It's me!
He winks at Elena, who laughs.
Elena Simonova: You're certainly not lacking confidence when it comes to me.
David Slayton: I guess this just feels like a "long haul" sort of thing.
Elena stands up, walks over to Slayton and plops herself down on his lap.
Elena Simonova: You should be so lucky.
David Slayton: Don't you have a match to get ready for?
Elena Simonova: I do. I suppose I can simply consider this my pre-match warm-up.
Elena leans in and kisses Slayton again as the camera fades back to the ring.
Nick Webb: Well ladies and gentlemen, we’re about to witness the number one contender’s match for the BWF World title! Who will go on to face Elena Simonova OR AJ Adams?
Rayne: Honestly, I think Chaney’s going to steal this one! The big guy’s been fired up for weeks, determined to get what he believes is rightfully his back.
Nick Webb: I don’t know if the BWF World Championship is “rightfully his”, but as the former champion, Park’s not going to let him take it that easily. Now more than ever, she has so much to prove.
Rayne: Well, somebody ring the bell so we can start this match!
Once the bell rings, Brianna Park starts off with some intimidating knife-edge chops to Allen Chaney’s chest. She goes for a spinning heel kick, but Allen catches it and drops her straight onto the mat. Brianna gets onto her feet, only for Allen to meet her with a bionic elbow onto the top of her head. He connects with the elbow again, and again, momentarily stunning Brianna before he drops her with a short-arm clothesline! Allen’s quick to try and pin her, but the referee’s count only reaches two before Brianna kicks out. He gets back up without hesitation and begins stomping on her midsection, making a mockery out of her. The referee tells him to back off as Brianna slowly gets up. Allen moves towards her when she clocks him with a couple right hands, then she knocks him down with a connecting lariat. Quickly Brianna bounces against the ropes and strikes Allen with a running dropkick to his side. It’s her turn to go for the pin attempt as the referee counts, but Allen kicks out at two. Brianna quickly follows through with a knee drop to Allen’s chest before she climbs up the nearest turnbuckle. As Allen gets to his feet, Brianna takes off with a diving hurricanrana, but Allen catches her and drives her down with a spinebuster counter! He pins her with a hook of the leg and the referee counts, but Brianna kicks out before three!
Nick Webb: We’ve got some pretty good back-and-forth action, but neither wrestler can get the three!
Rayne: Still, Allen’s spinebuster to halt Brianna’s diving hurricarana was sick!
With Chaney taking control of the match now, the beatdown on Park ensues with hard shots and even harder knockdowns. Once she’s weakened enough, Chaney brings her up into the air and brings her back down to earth with his gutwrench powerbomb signature! He holds her down for the pin attempt, but Park manages to get the shoulder up before the three! Chaney releases her and yells in her face to “STAY THE F*** DOWN!” He brings her to her feet and hits her with a couple harsh shots, even connecting with another bionic elbow to the top of her head. Park stumbles away only for a moment before Chaney floors her with his signature cactus clothesline from behind! His aggression begins to reveal itself while the referee tries to calm him down. Park is starting to get back up slowly, using the ropes as leverage to pull herself back up. Chaney shoves the referee aside and goes to grab ahold of Park, but she suddenly captures his arm for This is For Pyo (Armbar Submission)! Chaney’s yelling and hissing in pain, bearing his teeth in deep-seated anger. He refuses to tap out when the referee asks him.
Rayne: Ah hell, get out of this sticky situation, funny boy!
Nick Webb: Brianna’s almost desperate. She’s been battered and pummeled. She wants to end this match in any way possible!
Chaney is able to get a bit of leverage as he is able to turn himself and spin he and Park before being able to grab the ropes to break the hold. Park refuses to let go at first but releases just before a referee’s five count to avoid disqualification. Park rolls up to her feet and Chaney is seen shaking his arm, trying to regain the feeling in his elbow area. He drives that elbow into Park’s head viciously and forces her to a knee. Chaney explodes with a discus forearm smash to the face. Park hit the mat hard as she fell backwards but was quickly pulled up by her hair. Chaney tossed her around in the set up for his Set-Up (Double Arm DDT) as he taunted her. He connected with the move but decided against going for the pin as he took a few steps back. He gave a demented smile as he readied himself and charged, looking for the Heckler Control (Curbstomp) but Park moved out of the way. She spun Chaney around and delivered Seoul Food (Eat Defeat) and covered! One… two.. and kickout at the last moment. Park couldn’t believe it and grabbed the referee by his shirt and began to belittle him and told him to learn how to count. Park turned and Chaney had rolled to his feet and he hit her with a knee to the gut. He pulled her in and followed it up with Punchline (Package Piledriver) and rolled into a cover. One… two… three!
WINNER: Allen Chaney, via pinfall [14:53]
Rayne: Chaney is number one contender once again!
Nick Webb: And Park is livid!
Park swears up and down that she had kicked out and pushed the referee backwards into the ropes. She turned and looked for Chaney but he had rolled out of the ring and was seen laughing at Park before heading to the back.
Getting Noticed
The six competitors for the Sovereign Championship Ultimate X match all stood in the ring as “Crocodile Rock” by Elton John started to play in the arena. The fans gave a cheer as Elise Wyatt made her way out to the stage with a smile and a wave.
Elise Wyatt: I’m going to keep this very brief because I, like all of you, are very excited for this next match. Two weeks ago, after the events of Havok, Jackson and I took notice of the words of a BWF Superstar. It really caught our attention and we were curious as to how this person would respond over the next couple weeks. It continued. This person is ready to step out into the light and get noticed for more than what many think. That’s why Jackson and I have decided to add that person to this match, to give them the challenge and see what they can do!
The fans start to buzz with the clues.
Elise Wyatt: Ladies and gentlemen, the Rainbow Angel, XARIA LINETTE!
The fans give a loud ovation for Linette as she made her way to the ring for the Sovereign Championship match.
The seven competitors all looked up at the Sovereign Title as the match is announced and the bell sounded. We quickly had Fenryr and Hirano exchanging hard lefts and rights. Frost and Scott were soon fighting in one of the corners of the ring. Biafra found himself tangled up with Hullum soon after the bell rang and tried to overpower each other. Linette looked around the ring at the six competitors all doing battle and then up to the Sovereign Championship. The crowd cheered and she quickly climbed up the turnbuckle and wrapped her hands around the ropes above the ring. She started to shimmy along the ropes and caught the attention of everyone. She was close to the title but Linette was quickly pulled down by Fenryr and hit with an European uppercut. Linette staggered and had to duck a clothesline from Frost. She dropped Frost with a neckbreaker. We see Fenryr and Scott in the corner and Fenryr unleashed a series of hard elbows. Hirano took Biafra down with a blue thunder bomb. Hirano hit the ropes and caught Biafra with a dropkick to the side of the head as he started to sit up. Scott started to battle back against Fenryr and connected with a standing dropkick. Frost clotheslined Linette over the top ropes and they both fell to the outside. Fenryr got to his feet and speared Scott to the mat. He popped up and leveled Biafra with the Maul (Double Axe Handle). Hirano came running in with a spinning heel kick and caught Fenryr. Hullum grabbed Hirano as he stood and quickly drove him to the mat with the Crash Landing (Snapmare Driver). Hullum climbed the turnbuckle and took a small leap and grabbed the ropes and slowly crawled towards the title. He tried to reach for it but started to slip. Fenryr was to his feet and pulled Hullum down and caught him, turning it into a powerslam.
Nick Webb: Fenryr Wulfsson doing everything he can to keep everyone away from the Sovereign Championship.
Rayne: Look out!
Biafra had pulled Scott out of the ring and over towards the announcers table and bounced her head off it. Linette came diving off the apron and hit Biafra with flying side kick. Frost and Fenryr double teamed Hirano in the ring. Fenryr held Hirano in a full nelson as Frost landed kicks to the gut. Hullum stepped up and hit Frost with a hard forearm and delivered a lifting reverse DDT as she staggered away. Fenryr dropped Hirano to the mat with a full nelson slam before being grabbed by Hullum. Biafra pushed Linette away on the outside as she and Scott tried to double suplex him. Biafra delivered the Quickiller (Spinning Backfist) to Linette and she dropped to the floor. Scott grabbed Biafra and rolled him onto the announcers table and followed him. Biafra backdropped Scott as she lifted him and she hit the table and bounced off and to the floor as the table didn’t break.
Rayne: Scott just hit the table hard!
In the ring we saw Hullum locking in the World of Kurt (Gogoplata) having wrestled Fenryr to the mat. After a few moments Hullum released the hold and started to climb the turnbuckle again but was stopped by Frost. She climbed the turnbuckle with him and tried to suplex him but Hullum blocked. Biafra rolled into the ring and powerbombed Frost as she suplexed Hullum. The crowd went wild and Linette started to climb back into the ring. Biafra got to his feet and was hit with Linette’s Rain-BOOM (Busaiku Knee). Frost went to grab Linette but was taken down with OBJECTION (Spiking Hurricanrana) as Linette jumped up. Linette popped to her feet and climbed the turnbuckle. Scott started to climb another turnbuckle and on the other side Fenryr had made his way to the turnbuckles. All three started to make their way towards the title. Hirano quickly rushed to the ropes and scurried along towards the title. Hullum and Frost stopped Linette and Scott. Hirano and Fenryr started to kick at each other and both fell to the mat. Biafra was to his feet but hit by Frost’s AMRAAM (Missile Dropkick) and went rolling out of the ring. Frost turned as she stood and was hit by Hullum’s Kurtain Kall (Hangman’s Facebuster). Scott came springboarding into the ring from the apron and hit Hullum with the Seeing Stars (Colliding Headbutt) and Linette hit the Rain-BOOM! Fenryr dropped Scott with the Maul and then lifted Linette with the 9-9-9 (Gorilla Press Slam) and tossed her out of the ring onto Biafra. Fenryr started to lift Hirano for Hel Road (Double Underhook Powerbomb) but Hirano hit a backdrop. Fenryr stood and turned right into Hirano’s tornado kick. Hirano saw Frost starting to stand and connected with the Yoi Yume O (Running Knee to knelt opponent)! He quickly ran to the turnbuckle and jumped onto the ropes with his back to the title, swung his feet up and around, and scooted himself towards the title. Scott was to her feet and saw Hirano getting close to the title and Fenryr getting to his feet. He climbed the turnbuckle and Scott grabbed him by the foot and wouldn’t let him jump up as the fans roared. Hullum and Biafra were coming to and tried to start going after Hirano and Scott did everything she could to fend them off, giving Hirano just enough time to recover the title.
WINNER AND NEW BWF SOVEREIGN CHAMPION: Kaito Hirano, via title recovery [18:39]
Hirano fell to the mat holding the title in his chest and rolled to his knee. Scott came over and gave him a big hug as Hullum looked on pissed, rolling out of the ring. Fenryr and Frost started to leave up the ramp shaking their heads. Linette came to on the outside and saw the duo in the ring and rolled in after a few moments of taking it all in. She embraced them as the trio hugged to the delight of the fans. Hirano held the arms of Linette and Scott up high.
Rayne: What a match!
Nick Webb: Each of these competitors should be proud of their showing. For being a last minute entry to the match I’d say Xaria Linette impressed the Wyatts.
Coming Soon to PPV
Monday, September 28, 2015
Nick Webb: Here we go, Rayne. We’re moments away from the “icon versus icon” bout. This has all the making of an instant classic.
Rayne: I agree. Figgins has had a wonderful career around the world. We all know Shelley’s journey has been well documented.
Shelley and Figgins stand across the ring from each other and touch knuckles as the bell sounded as the fans cheered wildly. The two men locked up as the match got underway. Figgins and Shelley both tried to gain the early upper hand but were at a stalemate. They broke for a few moments and Shelley smiled and looked around. That brief opening allowed Figgins to send Shelley into the ropes and catch him on the return with an arm drag. Shelley rolled to his feet and was struck with a knee to the gut. Figgins hit the ropes and came with a running knee to the back of Shelley that caused him to stagger. Figgins grabbed Shelley and delivered a snap suplex as he worked on the back. Figgins started to grab Shelley’s legs and tried to roll him over but Shelley was able to reach up and lock in a small package. One… and kickout just before two. Shelley and Figgins rolled to their feet and Shelley ducked a clothesline. Shelley connects with a spinning belly to back suplex on Figgins. Shelley pulled Figgins to his feet and quickly looked for the Junk Yard Jam (Pedigree) but Figgins is able to back drop Shelley. Shelley rolled to his feet and was hit hard with a discus lariat. Figgins pulled Shelley to his feet and whipped him into the corner. Figgins charged and drove his knee into the gut of Shelley. He quickly started to land hard chops to the chest of Shelley.
Rayne: The corner machine gun chops! Look at Shelley’s chest!
Figgins is fired up and walks a few feet away as Shelley’s chest is red with hand prints. Figgins went to charge again but Shelley exploded out of the corner with a spear. Shelley jumped to his feet and hit the ropes as Figgins stood. Shelley dropped Figgins with a shoulder block and pulled him back to his feet. Shelley pulled Figgins in and looked over at the camera and smiled, pointed, and connected with the Starshot (Mickie James’ Lifting DDT).
Nick Webb: A blatant shout out to Shelley’s fiance there as he connects with that big DDT.
Shelley rolled Figgins into a cover. One… two and a kickout. Figgins battled to his feet and tripped up Shelley and quickly had a Boston crab locked in. Shelley struggled and started to pull himself towards the ropes. He was finally able to grab the ropes and Figgins had to break the hold. Shelley pulled himself out of the ring and took a knee. The referee checked on him and Shelley said he was still good to go. Figgins ran and hit a baseball slide that caught Shelley as he turned around. Figgins watched Shelley start to stand and hit the far ropes, came back, and hit a flipping senton over the top ropes onto Shelley. The fans popped as both men were down. Figgins started to pull Shelley up but Shelley drove his elbow into Figgins’ gut and bounced his head off the apron. Figgins was rolled into the ring and Shelley climbed back into the ring and the two locked up. Figgins ducked under Shelley and looked for a German suplex but Shelley grabbed the top ropes to block it. Figgins pulled Shelley away and hit a few forearms to the back of the head and followed it with a German suplex. Figgins rolled Shelley into a cover. One… two and a kickout. Shelley rolled to his feet and quickly jumped up and hit Figgins with the Cannon Ball (Reverse Lungblower [Knees to chest]). One… two.. and a kickout.
Nick Webb: Both men bringing it all here tonight.
Figgins pulled Shelley to his feet slowly and Shelley speared Figgins into the corner. Figgins rocked Shelley with a hard elbow to stagger him to the center of the ring. Figgins looked for a running elbow but Shelley connected with a backdrop. Shelley jumped to the apron and positioned himself and springboarded into the ring and connected with I’m a Bird, Motherf***er! (Gabe springboards into the ring off the top rope, flaps his arms, and hits a legdrop to a downed opponent). Figgins staggered to his feet and looked for a forearm but Shelley ducked it and spun him around. Shelley landed a kick to the gut and connected with the Foreshadowing (Styles Clash)! He rolled Figgins over into a cover. One… two.. kickout! Shelley couldn’t believe it and rolled to his knees. He begged Figgins to get to his feet. Figgins was up slowly and Shelley looked for the Fallout (Zig Zag) but Figgins leaned forward and grabbed the ropes and Shelley crashed to the mat. Figgins quickly climbed to the top ropes and dove, connecting with the Leveler (Flying Reverse Leg Lariat). Figgins dove onto Shelley and hooked both legs. One… two.. and kickout!
Nick Webb: I thought that was it!
Rayne: What a match!
Nick Webb: What do they have to do to win this match?
Figgins slowly got to his feet and Shelley was up shortly after. Shelley lunged with a hard forearm and looked for the Jersey Cutter (Twist of Fate) but Figgins pushed him away and into the ropes. Figgins caught the rebounding Shelley with a judo hip toss and into an armbar. Shelley was able to roll away before Figgins could lock it in full and got to his feet. Figgins landed a kick to the gut of Shelley and delivered a gutwrench suplex. Shelley staggered to his feet and ducked Figgins and flipped backwards with a pele kick. Shelley balanced himself and set Figgins up and delivered a big superplex from the top ropes. Both men were down and the referee started to count. One… two… three… four…
Nick Webb: Neither men are moving!
Seven… eight… nine… ten!
DRAW: Via Double Knockout [18:31]
The fans booed as Shelley and Figgins started to come to.
Nick Webb: What a disappointing ending but these two really tried pulling out all the stops.
Rayne: I think Figgy and Gabe are realising what just happened.
Shelley looked at the referee and was told the match was over and Figgins got to his feet. Shelley climbed up and the three started talking things over. Figgins and Shelley kept pointing at the timekeeper as the crowd started cheering.
Rayne: I think they want the match restarted!
Rayne was correct as the referee leaned out to Scott Benjamin who then announced that the match would be restarted to the delight of the fans. Rayne: Match of the year candidate for the second month in a row.
Nick Webb: I think it’s safe to say this match lifted up to the hype.
We’re shown parts of the backstage area where we can see Elena Simonova walking around with the BWF World Championship around her waist. We’re then shown AJ Adams walking up to the gorilla position with his headphones on. He stops and takes them off and hands them to someone. We see Sabrina Scott there to kiss him on the cheek as he pulls on a piece of tape on his wrist and takes a deep breath. We’re shown Elena Simonova again as she’s jumping back in forth to get loose and then starts to stretch.
It’s time for the main event as the fans are on their feet for the entrances of both superstars. We get the super announcement of the title match from Scott Benjamin. Adams and Elena circle each other as the bell sounded and things got started with a hard kick from Adams. Adams followed it with a forearm but Elena speared Adams into the corner. She drove a knee into his gut and sent him into the opposite corner. She charged after him and connected with the 200 Proof (Lifting Corner Knee into Monkey Flip). Elena jumped up, fired up, and connected with a falling elbow across Adams’ chest. Adams rolled to his feet and ducked under a clothesline from Elena and hit a STO backbreaker and followed it up with a jumping neckbreaker. Adams rolled Elena into a cover and looked to end it early. He hit the ropes and ran into a shoulder block. He rolled to his feet and slipped under a charging Elena. She spun Adams around but he landed a kick to the gut and delivered a vertical suplex. He held onto Elena and rolled her to her feet and delivered a second suplex. He rolled her to her feet and looked for a third but Elena was able to shift her weight and pulled Adams down with a big DDT.
Nick Webb: AJ just got spiked hard into the mat.
Rayne: He looks out of it right now.
Elena rolled Adams over for a pin and put her arm across his chest. One… two and a kickout. Adams used the nearby ropes to help get to his feet and hit an incoming Elena with a back elbow. He delivered a kick to the gut and quickly followed it with Eat It (Fame-Asser) and covered. One.. two.. and kickout. Elena crawled to her feet and stumbled into the corner. Adams charged and ran right into a big boot. Adams staggered away and turned back at Elena and right into her running double axe handle smash. Adams couldn’t believe it and thought he had the match won as he talked to the referee.
Rayne: Elena refusing to go down.
Nick Webb: What does AJ have to do?
Rayne: What does Elena have to do?
Elena was to her feet and fell into another corner. Adams looked for a big corner splash but Elena moved out of the way and Adams crashed into the post. He stumbled around and turned into Elena and she delivered the Reverse Psychology (C4)! She covered and hooked both legs. One… two.. and kickout. The referee waved off the near third fall and the fans roared with cheers for both competitors.
Rayne: This match continues!
Nick Webb: Yeah but how much do these two have left?
Adams was pulled to his feet slowly and Elena said a few words to him. She was spun around and Adams jumped up on her back and brought her down and locked in the Lights Out (Tazzmission)!
Nick Webb: LIGHTS OUT!
Elena started to fade quickly but refused to tap out.
Rayne: She’s passing out!
Elena struggled and tried to roll Adams towards the ropes. The referee asked if she quit but she just kept waving her arms around. She stretched out and her fingers wrapped around the bottom rope to break the hold. Adams was forced to break the hold and crawled to his hands and knees. Elena used the ropes to allow her a few seconds to try and recover and Adams stood. Elena hit a desperation kick to the gut and delivered the Vodka Tonic! Both competitors were down and neither were moving as the referee had to start his ten count. One… two… three…
Rayne: Oh no, not again.
Nick Webb: These two are absolutely gassed at this point.
Six… seven… Elena was able to roll onto Adams for a cover. One… two.. and a kickout! The fans erupted and chanted “this is awesome” as Adams kicked out. Elena looked at him in shock and pulled him up. She hit the ropes and looked for the Iron Curtain (Black Widow) as she flipped around Adams. He didn’t let her lock it in fully and was able to get her off. She landed on her feet and Adams hit another Last Call but Elena rolled out of the ring before he could cover. She fell to the floor and landed on her back as she tried to recover. The referee used his count and got up to eight before she rolled back into the ring. Adams went for her but she connected with a jawbreaker. She sent for a school boy but Adams rolled all the way through and to his feet. Adams delivered a dropkick to Elena still on her knees. He pulled her to her feet and took a few seconds to gather some strength. He lifted her up and walked her around the ring. He went for the GTS but Elena reversed into the Iron Curtain as she spun around him. Adams screamed out in pain as Elena yelled at him to tap. Adams stayed on both feet and jumped, turned, and hit a modified side slam that broke her hold. Elena staggered to her feet and walked right into Adams’ Legacy Maker (Sister Abigail)! He rolled onto her for the cover. One… two… three!
WINNER AND NEW BWF WORLD CHAMPION: AJ Adams, via pinfall [22:46]
The crowd went nuts as Adams was announced the winner and was handed the championship.
Nick Webb: We have a new BWF World Champion! AJ Adams has become the BWF World Champion for the fourth time in his career!
Rayne: I can’t believe it! I thought this match was doomed following the classic between Figgy and Gabe but this was great!
Adams fell to his knees beside Elena and helped pull her into a seated position. He said a few things to her and put his arm around her shoulders and his head against hers. He stood and fell into the ropes as he looked down at the championship. Elena crawled to her feet and patted Adams on the shoulder before leaving the ring.
Nick Webb: Two world class competitors showing respect for each other after a fantastic match. This could be their greatest meeting yet.
Rayne: I bet Allen Chaney is in the back with his mouth watering with the outcome of this match.
Nick Webb: Thank you everyone for tuning in!
We get one last shot of AJ holding the title as we go to black, logo, black.
