Episode 145 - April 22, 2013
Nick Webb: Listen to that capacity crowd, ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to another edition of BWF Monday Night Havok! I'm Nick Webb...
Rayne: ...I'm hungry...
Nick Webb: (slightly annoyed) ...and he's Rayne... and we're live from the Target Center in beautiful Minneapolis, Minnesota!
The camera flies around the arena again as the crowd continues cheering loudly.
Nick Webb: We've got a hell of a show for you tonight, folks! We're just seven days away from BWF's return to pay-per-view with Danger Zone, and tonight, we're going to find out who will be stepping into the eighth Hellbound Match in history to fight for the BWF World Championship!
Rayne: And that's not all! We've got freaks vs. geeks, chic vs. oblique and, in our main event of the evening, what is sure to be a historic tag team encounter, as AJ Adams and X.L. Pendergast team up to take on the duo of Zachariah Boone and Kyle Cross!
The crowd only gets louder as "She's a Rebel" by Green Day kicks in on the BlazenTron and Emily Corlen walks out onto the stage, a pen and clipboard in hand. She walks down the ramp, high fiving a few fans on the way, before making her way to the announcer's table and sitting down next to Rayne and Webb. She picks up an extra headset resting on the table and puts it on before shaking the hands of both men.
Emily Corlen: Evening, boys.
Nick Webb: Looks like we're being joined by the BWF Owner, Rayne! To what do we owe this pleasure?
Rayne: *cough* SUCK UP! *cough*
Webb blushes a little as Emily laughs.
Nick Webb: Shut up, Rayne!
Emily Corlen: No, he's right, it IS kind of suck-up-ish. But, that's okay. If there's one thing I can appreciate, it's an asskisser.
Rayne laughs loudly and Nick replies by elbowing him in the arm. Emily continues, ignoring them both.
Emily Corlen: To answer your question, Nick, I'm out here to scout talent for Danger Zone. I'll be following every ounce of action throughout the night and after the main event is over, I'll be ready to make the official announcement regarding Hellbound and the rest of the Danger Zone card.
Nick Webb: Then what are we waiting for? Let's get to the action!
Emily Corlen: Yes, please!
Emily and Nick high five each other in a corny fashion and Rayne simply shakes his head as the camera centers on Scott Benjamin in the center of the ring.
The bell rings as Collins and Spykeman! tie up in the center of the ring. Collins puts Spykeman! in a side headlock, but Spykeman! pushes him off into the ropes. As Collins stumbles back, Spykeman! puts Collins in his own headlock. After a few moments, Collins counters out the same way Spykeman! did, but as Spykeman! rebounds from the ropes, he takes a stiff a boot to the face from a waiting Collins. Collins begins stomping away at Spykeman! furiously.
Nick Webb: Looks like Chad Collins is still a little upset about his loss to Gary last week. I don't think he's going to make the same mistake against Spykeman! in underestimating his opponent.
Emily Corlen: I wouldn't... especially since Spykeman! actually won his match last week.
The match continues, with Spykeman! lashing out sporadically, but Collins refusing to give up the momentum, slowly breaking his heroic opponent with every calculated shot. Spykeman! almost upsets Collins in the same fashion as Gary Maverick did a week prior when he countered Collins' Torture Rack into a modified Infinite Crisis (Phoenix Dragonrana), but Collins kicks out just before the three. Less than a minute later, Collins recovers with a stiff clothesline that turns Spykeman! inside out, and doesn't wait for his opponent to rise on his own, lifting Spykeman! up before hitting his Death Valley Driver for the cover and the pinfall.
WINNER: Chad Collins, via Pinfall
After the match, "Good Times Bad Times" by Led Zeppelin started blaring as Chad Collins rolls out of the ring and walks right over to where Emily Corlen is sitting at ringside, loudly proclaiming that THAT was what he was really capable of. She seems impressed as she jots down notes in her legal pad. Collins leaves ringside and heads up the ramp, smirking before he heads back through the curtain.
Nick Webb: Color me impressed! Chad Collins learned from his slip-up last week and dominated Spykeman! this week, picking up the win.
Rayne: Anybody can win a match. Losing a match and using that to get better? That's the mark of a future Champion.
Emily Corlen: I couldn't agree more.
Nick Webb starts to add something to the conversation, but is abruptly interrupted as a hooded figure slides into the ring and starts attacking Spykeman! The crowd starts booing loudly as the man beats down Spykeman! before hoisting him up and dropping him with an Omega Driver.
Nick Webb: Now who the hell is THAT?
Emily Corlen: Godless.
Rayne and Webb seem confused even as the man in the ring pulls back his hood to reveal his identity - "Godless" Flynn McLoughlin. He looks down at Spykeman! and spits on him before exiting the ring to deafening boos from the Minneapolis crowd.
Brotherly Advice
Backstage in Elena Simonova's dressing room. Elena is seated on a bench, checking her wrist and ankle wraps. As she begins to lace her boots, in walks her manager/brother Nik Simonova.
Nik Simonova: Look, I know we discussed this before but are you really sure about this? I can just arrange to have her taken out so you aren't at risk again. I know some guys! Hell, I'd be more than happy to beat the two of them to a pulp for you. Then Akemi wouldn't be at risk again either.
Elena stands and walks over to him.
Elena Simonova: Nik, stop! Look, I appreciate you looking out for me and all. And I certainly identify with the urge to rip them to pieces for underhanded crap they pulled on my Akemi...
Nik Simonova: (interrupting) and you! That nasty slut pulled a couple fast ones on you.
Elena Simonova: I remember. (with emphasis) AS I WAS SAYING... I know you worry about me big bro. But you saw what I did before, and you know what I can do now. I will have my revenge, and I will make those two good-for-nothing douchebags pay for what they have done.
Nik Simonova: But...
Elena Simonova: (interrupting) Nik, for the last time... I had a few months off, I didn't retire! ... and I sure as hell didn't forget how to wrestle. You know me, I never do anything without thinking it through, planning it out. I know how to break these guys and I will. You know damn well I OWN my ring.
Nik Simonova: [sighs] I know, I know. I get it, I just... you know.
Elena Simonova: I know, and thanks. I'm very glad to know you're always in my corner. But I've got this. This is something I both need and want to handle personally. I have a chance to start over here in the BWF, without all the bullshit at the old company. I'm going to help make the BWF great, and I'm going to start by taking out the riffraff. [Cracks knuckles]
Nik Simonova: Alright, alright. I know that look, I know you've got this. Go break them in half and teach them a lesson in respect. But I reserve the right to always be the big brother, especially as your manager.
Elena Simonova: Point taken and position granted. I respect your perspective... you'll help keep my judgment in line. [Kisses his cheek] Now get out of here and let me focus.
Nik Simonova: I'm going, I'm going! [Turns back and winks on his way out the door]
Coming Soon on Pay-Per-View
The bell rings and the two ladies, Airica and Elena, start for their respective teams. Elena takes Linn down with a fast clothesline, catching the beautiful blonde off guard. From there, she slowly dismantles her opponent, showing the same impressive, cyborg-like focus that earned her a fearsome reputation during her tenure in the PWA. The match continues for a few minutes with Airica not able to get in even a single lick of opposition against the redhead. As Outlaw watches on as he stands on the apron, Elena finally takes a step back and yells at Airica to tag out to Chandler, demanding "a real challenge". Outlaw and Elena's troop - Akemi, Nikolai and Kelly - all watch on, amused.
Nick Webb: Wow. Elena's rocking it tonight. I don't think she's suffered a single blow since this match began!
Emily Corlen: I've trained with her, you know. Elena. I used to think I had a hardcore workout regimen. I tried doing hers once and couldn't walk for a full day afterward.
Rayne: I have to think that she's determined at this point to prove that her initial run in PWA last year wasn't a fluke, and that she can dominate as easily wherever she goes.
Nick Webb: I'll say this much... if she keeps this up, I'm not going to argue with her.
As Elena poses for the crowd, Airica crawls back to her corner and tags in Tyler Chandler. She rolls out of the ring and onto the outside to recover as Tyler leaps into the ring from the top rope and catches Elena with a flying tackle! Outlaw starts yelling at Elena to tag him in, but before she can get the chance, Chandler charges the corner and hits a dropkick that sends Outlaw off the apron and into the barricade! As the crowd "oohs", Chandler turns back around to grab Elena - but the fiery Russian has already recovered and rolled to her feet! Chandler charges her again, but Elena sidesteps this time and catches Tyler on the rebound with her Hammer and Sickle (Running double axe handle followed by Buzzsaw kick)!
Rayne: I think I just saw a tooth go flying!
Emily Corlen: Or his dignity.
With Tyler reeling, Elena starts working on his arms and neck. Outlaw makes it back up to the apron, but Airica's still nowhere to be seen. Tyler finally breaks away from Elena with a leg trip and desperately crawls to his corner for a tag; but Airica's still down on the outside! Chandler reaches his feet and yells for her to get up, before finally turning around right into a headscissors from Elena shifted in midair into her Iron Curtain (Octopus Stretch)! Chandler drops to one knee, then the other, struggles to move, and finally screams that he gives up.
WINNERS: Elena Simonova and Outlaw, via Submission
"War of Change" by Thousand Foot Krutch begins blaring over the speakers, but Elena's not finished yet. Her manager/girlfriend, Akemi Hayashi, moves over to the ring apron and slides both of her crutches inside before leaning onto the apron. Elena grabs one and, as Outlaw enters the ring, she motions to him to grab the other. He thinks for a moment before deciding not to argue with her.
Nick Webb: What's going to happen here?
Emily Corlen: Knowing Red... justice.
Rayne: Red?
Emily Corlen: Elena. C'mon, Rayne. Keep up.
This time, Webb's the one who snorts laughter even as Outlaw and Elena circle the groggy Tyler Chandler. They say something inaudibly to one another, and then extend their crutches sideways.
Elena Simonova: THIS... IS FOR... KEMI!
At the same time, Elena and Outlaw swing their crutches, cracking Chandler on the front and the back of the head at the same time! The crowd cheers loudly as Tyler collapses in a heap. At ringside, Airica has finally recovered somewhat, and is screaming at the team that just beat her to leave Tyler alone. Elena and Outlaw hold each other's arms up in triumph, and then Outlaw holds the ropes open while Elena exits; handing Akemi's crutches back to her as she does so. Kelly O'Shea and Nikolai Simonova join the trio as they head up the ramp, and as Airica slides into the ring to check on Tyler, the group on the stage poses again to a big pop from the crowd.
Nick Webb: Wow! So, what do you think, Emily? Er... Emily?
The BWF Owner doesn't answer, as she's furiously scribbling notes down on the yellow legal pad attached to her clipboard.
Nick Webb: Um... alright! Well, folks, the night's far from over! Don't change that channel!
Additional Star Wars Reference
We cut backstage into the locker room of one of the BWF rising stars, Elizabeth Davis. She’s getting ready for her match tonight with Gary Maverick, but she’s not alone. In the room with her isn't her valet and friend, Katrina Evans, but rather her mentor, Matt Stone. Matt is half paying attention as he looks down at his phone, Liz is just finishing up getting dressed.
Elizabeth Davis: So, how do I look?
Matt Stone: Good, I guess?
Elizabeth Davis: You haven’t even looked up.
Matt looks up for a moment, looking her over, and then looking back down.
Matt Stone: Yeah, I’ll go with good. Your appearance is next to meaningless, though. Are you ready to fight?
Elizabeth Davis: I think so.
Matt Stone: Well whether you think so or not, you have a very important match tonight. Either you or Gary Maverick will be 2-0 going into the PPV and get great momentum. You need momentum in this business Liz, now go out there and grab it.
Elizabeth Davis: I’ll try...
Matt Stone: Do or do not, there is no try.
Elizabeth blinks, looking at Matt for a few seconds.
Elizabeth Davis: You sound like Gary.
Matt Stone: Never say I sound like a Maverick.
She chuckles and heads for the door.
Elizabeth Davis: Coming?
Matt Stone: Nah, I’ll watch from back here, last thing I need is to be cornered out at ringside by her royal highness. Knock ‘em dead, kid.
Elizabeth Davis: I will!
She opens the door and heads out of the room, leaving Stone to watch the feed from her locker room.
Katrina is nowhere in sight this week, perhaps backstage hanging out with Matt, as the bell rings and Gary (who presumably had another Red Bull before this match) ties up with Liz. For the first several minutes, the match appears to be dead even, with neither competitor gaining a clear advantage, despite Liz focusing on Gary's legs like her trainer instructed her to.
Emily Corlen: See, this is what's wrong with discussing match strategy while the camera is rolling.
Rayne: Hmm?
Emily Corlen: Matt told her to work Gary's legs. She's doing a great job, but she's not getting anywhere with it because Gary knows it's coming. That's why I always keep my strategies to myself.
Nick Webb: And that pays off for you?
Emily Corlen: Considering I hold two World Titles from this company alone? Yeah, it pays off for me. Liz needs to learn how to be more spontaneous in the ring if she's going to be successful.
Back in the ring, Gary slowly starts to gain the upper hand, nabbing several near falls and remaining surprisingly focused. He decides to take a chance with his Up, Up, and Away (Phoenix Splash), but Liz gets her knees up, nailing Gary in the head hard and knocking him senseless. She covers for a close two. After another brief scuffle, Gary recovers enough to try for his Konami Code, but Liz grabs onto the ropes, leaving Gary to slam down onto the mat hard. He rolls to his feet and Liz is ready, catching him instinctively with the Hostile Takeover (Back Stabber) for the 1, 2, 3!
WINNER: Elizabeth Davis, via Pinfall
"Mr. Night" by Kenny Loggins plays as Liz stands up, smirking triumphantly. She blows a kiss to Emily, who chuckles, before rolling out of the ring and heading up the ramp.
Nick Webb: It looks to me like Liz' training is going just fine, Emily! Two wins in a row - her very own undefeated streak! Any chance we're going to be seeing Miss Davis step into Hellbound?
Emily hesitates for a moment.
Emily Corlen: No. Don't worry. I have something in mind for Elizabeth at Danger Zone. Her efforts will not go unrewarded.
Rayne: What is it?
Emily Corlen: Patience, boys. You'll find out when everybody else does.
Rayne tries to arch his neck to look at Emily's legal pad, but she quickly pulls it close to her chest and smacks Rayne on the arm.
The Grudge Continues
We cut to the backstage area as AJ Adams is seen walking down the hallway to his dressing room to prepare for his match. Over his shoulder is his gym bag and he's blindsided from the right and tossed into a few crates.
Nick Webb: That's Outlaw!
Outlaw starts to pummel on the fallen Adams.
Outlaw: Get up!
Outlaw screams at Adams who staggers to his feet and spears Outlaw to the other side of the hallway and across a few tables and some equipment being prepared. Adams lands a few lefts and rights and stands and tries to set up the ankle lock.
Rayne: He's looking to hurt that ankle once again.
Outlaw battles out as a few trainers come and pull the two men apart.
Catering to the Old School Fans
The scene shifts to catering, where BWF Hall of Famer (and newly re-signed BWF superstar!) Toco is looking over the selection of delicious noms. The crowd pops loudly as he continues to pile his plate full of donuts and other assorted sweets, until the sound of a woman uttering disgust catches his attention. He turns around and spots the beautiful Cascavel, looking at Toco like a Kardashian looks at someone with a quadruple digit income. Toco smiles at her before holding his plate up.
Toco: Donut?
Cascavel's lip curls in a look of utter disgust. Toco doesn't seem to notice.
Toco: But just one! I need the rest. For reasons.
Toco holds the plate up again, assuming the lovely woman simply didn't hear him the first time. Before she can respond, a masked man ambushes Toco from behind!
Nick Webb: Hey! That's The Spectre! That's the guy that woman is managing!
Rayne: You mean Cascavel. Our children will be smart and beautiful.
Emily Corlen: But what will you bring to the relationship, Rayne?
With Toco down on the ground, The Spectre gazes down at the dropped plate and the treats scattered all over the floor. He kneels down, picking up a jelly filled donut, and then smashes it in Toco's face, rubbing the jam in like a winter facewash. The crowd boos louder as The Spectre wipes his hands off on Toco's shirt before standing up. Cascavel wraps her arms around the masked man and shoots the fallen Toco a look of disdain before the duo walks off.
DING DING DING!!!
Scott Benjamin: Ladies and gentlemen, the following tag team contest is scheduled for ONE fall and it is your main event of the evening! Introducing first, he hails from Parts Unknown... weighing in tonight at 198 pounds... he is X.L. PENDERGAST!!!
The sound of silence permeates the arena. X. L. Pendergast enters the arena, head held up high with a grin on his face. He is dressed in a sapphire blue robe. He saunters down to the ring, rolls inside and gets to his feet. He removes his robe, revealing silk wrestling tights: Xavier down the left leg and Léon down the right leg. White boots adorn his feet, with the monogram of XL on both boots.
Nick Webb: X.L. Pendergast had a shocking debut last week, when he appeared at the end of the main event between AJ Adams and Zachariah Boone and proceeded to beat down Boone with no remorse whatsoever!
Rayne: Like I said last week, screw feelings! I have a feeling there's no limits to what this guy is willing to do... and I like it!
Scott Benjamin: And his tag team partner, he hails from Los Angeles, California... weighing in tonight at 176 pounds... he is AJ ADAMS!!!
"Lights Out" by P.O.D. hits the BlazenTron and the lights go dim as blue and red lights begin to search the arena. As a burst of pyro goes off, AJ Adams is seen standing on the stage looking into the ring. He walks down and sometimes points to the sky. He slides into the ring and climbs one of the turnbuckles. Adams then points out to the crowd and then makes a fist with each hand.
Emily Corlen: Adams and I aren't big fans of each other, mostly on account of the fact that he's never beaten me, but I will say this - he surprised me last week. If he can keep that same level of intensity, he's going to be something big here in BWF.
Rayne: And if he can't?
Emily Corlen: The world needs ditch diggers too, Rayne.
As the lights in the Blazenwing Wrestling Federation simultaneously begin to fade out one by one, the arena can be seen in a state of almost complete darkness as a growing echo takes over throughout the BWF arena. The sound of drums and clapping can be heard coming from the PA sound system as the song “Kiss My Country Ass” by Blake Shelton kicks in full force, as it does a single pulsing blue strobe light flickers on. The first few lyrics of the song can be heard, as the lyrics of Blake Shelton's “Kiss My Country Ass” are heard out steps the good ol' southern boy himself, “The Kamikaze Redneck” Zachariah “F'n” Boone, Boone stands at the top of the entrance ramp as the single pulsing blue light shines down upon him, as it does two other lights flicker in on Boone, those lights being Orange, and White colored lights. Boone can be seen having a rebel bandana wrapped around his head, his upper torso can be seen being bare except for the red hooded vest he be seen wearing, the vest can be seen unzipped, The sleeves of the vest can be seen ripped off, the Rebel flag can be seen being the design going across the entire front of it. Boone's Lower half can be seen being covered in a pair of old ripped blue jeans, and a pair of boots as he continues to stand at the top of the entrance looking out into the darkness that surrounds around him.
Scott Benjamin: And their opponents... first, making his way from the Heart of America, Nashville, Tennessee, he weighs in at 228 pounds... he is “THEEEE KAAAAAAMIKAZE REEEEDNECK” ZAAAAAAAACHARIAH “F'n” BOOOOONE!!!
As Benjamin announces Boone's name, Zachariah begins to walk on down the entrance ramp, he can be seen getting mostly cheers from the nearby fans at ringside, once at the bottom of the ramp Zachariah walks up to the ring and stands there, glaring at Adams and Pendergast from ringside.
Rayne: Aww, no Annabelle Jennings and her glorious chest tonight?
Nick Webb: I don't blame Boone one bit for keeping her backstage. That sociopath Pendergast? There's no telling what he might try to pull. Boone's a good man. He's not gonna put his lady friend in danger.
Scott Benjamin: And his tag team partner, he hails from Toronto, Ontario, Canada... weighing in tonight at 238 pounds... he is the Scarred Sentinel... he is KYLE CROSS!!!
"Defy You" by The Offspring hits the BlazenTron and Kyle Cross steps out onto the stage, taking a moment to take it all in before bolting down the ramp and sliding in beneath the bottom rope. Boone follows his lead and a fight immediately breaks out as the bell rings!
DING!
Nick Webb: And here we go! Neither side is wasting a single moment in this match! Look at the fists fly!
Cross corners Pendergast, while Boone goes after Adams. The four men fight as the referee struggles to regain order. He finally manages to do so after several moments, leaving Boone and Adams as the legal men for their team.
Rayne: Looks like we're getting a rematch from last week!
Emily Corlen: This should be good.
They circle the ring before locking up in the collar and elbow; Adams gains the advantage and forces Boone back into the far corner. AJ then lights up Boone's chest with a loud CRACK of a chop, followed by another... but when he goes for a third, Boone catches his hand and throws a right hook! AJ reels for a moment, but dodges a second punch and knees Boone hard in the ribs. He steps back, grabs Boone's arm, and whips him into the ropes, aiming a clothesline! Boone ducks to a big pop, then rebounds off the ropes, but as he comes back, Adams is waiting and hits him with a high leaping Eat It (Fame-Asser)!
Nick Webb: Wow! Did you see the height Adams got off that vertical leap?
Rayne: You're telling me! I had no idea Adams was black!
Emily Corlen: ...no, sweetie, you can't SAY that. You're going to get us sued.
Rayne: Aww... I'm JUST saying, the movie was called "White Men Can't Jump" for a reason.
Nick Webb: And that's Rayne with your Obscure 90's Reference of the Night, ladies and gentlemen!
AJ pulls Boone into the cover!
1!
Kickout!
Boone gets his shoulder up after just one and the crowd cheers. Adams pulls Boone back to his feet before kneeing him a few more times, and then sets him up and connects with a Vertical Suplex. He hooks it and rolls around to deliver the second in his Trifecta Suplexes, but Boone hooks his leg behind AJ's before headbutting him hard in the skull! Adams stumbles back, holding his face, as his nose starts bleeding.
Nick Webb: We have a bleeder!
With the opening he's been waiting for, Boone takes Adams down hard with a tackle and starts to hit him with repeated lefts and rights. He stands up and starts to kick Adams in the side until the referee finally pulls him back under threat of disqualification.
Emily Corlen: Aw. Too bad. I knew I should have made this a No DQ Match.
Boone steps back toward his corner and points at his partner, which gets a huge pop from the crowd. He tags the Scarred Sentinel into the match, and Cross leaps onto the apron before launching himself off, catching the risen Adams with The Sentinel Strike (Springboard Superman Punch {From Apron to Ring})!
Rayne: Whoa! I think he just punched AJ's brains in!
Nick Webb: And AJ's partner is in no hurry to get involved in this contest.
Indeed, X.L. Pendergast looks almost bored on the apron, bemusedly watching his partner take a beating as Cross hoists Adams onto his shoulders and hits a standing rolling senton before pulling AJ into the cover.
1!
2!
Kickout! Adams gets his shoulder up, coughing a little as he tries to regain his senses. Cross starts to pick Adams up, but Adams reacts instintucally, pulling Cross down hard, sending him tumbling onto the middle rope neck first. With the momentary distraction, Adams leaps to his corner and tags in Pendergast! X.L. looks down at AJ, almost with a look of disdain, before finally entering the ring through the first and second rope.
Rayne: I don't think Pendergast liked that very much.
Emily Corlen: In his defense... would you want AJ Adams touching you?
As Cross gets back up, X.L. charges him and takes him down with a stiff clothesline. Cross, still dazed a bit from the rope incident, coughs and X.L. looks down at him before looking out to the audience and loudly proclaiming "THIS is your hero? Pathetic." to a chorus of boos. Cross starts getting up and Pendergast catches him with a running knee to the side of the head, knocking him back down. He drops to the mat and starts choking the life out of Cross, and the referee yells at him to back off, getting to a count of 4 before X.L. finally steps back, admiring his handiwork.
Nick Webb: ...go on, Rayne, say it.
Rayne: Say what?
Nick Webb: I KNOW you want to.
Rayne: Well, if you insist... *clears throat* HE HAS 'TIL FOUR, REF! HE HAS 'TIL FOUR!
X.L. starts to pick Cross up, but Cross surprises him with a jawbreaker, sending Pendergast reeling backwards. X.L. falls back into the ropes and bounces off, giving Cross the chance to leap up and catch him with a hurricanrana! X.L. finds himself propped neck first on the middle rope (like Cross was moments ago) and Cross, with a renewed energy, runs across the ring before leaping onto Pendergast's back hard! Cross takes a step back and as X.L. rises, he runs up behind X.L. and jumps, catching him with the Look To The North (Snap Jumping Side Kick)! Cross pulls X.L. into the center of the ring and hooks the legs!
1!
2!
Kickout! Pendergast gets his shoulder up and the crowd boos.
Rayne: You're gonna need to do more than that to take these guys out!
Nick Webb: How do you know? This is our first time seeing X.L. Pendergast in action.
Emily Corlen: Because he recognizes talent. This isn't some pretty face curtain jerker Cross and Boone are dealing with. Though between us, I have a strong feeling the last thing Kyle Cross is going to do is underestimate an opponent.
Nick Webb: Unless his last name is Blazenwing.
Emily Corlen: (Stifles a chuckle) Or you were trained by Blazenwing.
Back in the ring, Cross lifts X.L. up, but X.L. manages to recover and starts throwing right hands. Cross returns the right hands, the two alternating for several seconds as the crowd boos with each punch from X.L. and cheers with each punch from Cross. Finally, Pendergast gains the advantage and whips Cross into the ropes. Cross comes back and is greeted with the Fang Song (A thrust chop to the throat, with a snapping front kick to a knee. This causes his opponent to drop to a knee. Afterward, X.L. executes a well-placed elbow in the mouth) from Pendergast, after which the Machiavellian sociopath quickly covers his foe.
1!
2!
Kickout! Cross kicks out of the pin attempt before grasping at his mouth in pain.
Nick Webb: What a nasty series of moves from X.L. Pendergast! Did you see a tooth fly out?
Rayne: I didn't, but I've heard stories about that move doing that very thing!
Emily Corlen: Maybe he seconds for the Tooth Fairy.
X.L. pulls Cross to his feet and lands a more few hard rights before whipping him into his team's corner and moving in for the kill. Before he can do anything to Cross, however, AJ reaches into the ring and slaps X.L. in the arm, tagging himself in! Adams enters the ring and takes a step back before hitting a running knee in the corner to Cross, all while X.L. just stands there, dumbfounded at Adams' arrogance in tagging himself in right when Pendergast had Cross where he wanted him.
Nick Webb: X.L. Pendergast does NOT look happy.
Emily Corlen: Does he ever?
Rayne: She's got a point.
Cross stumbles to the mat as X.L. returns to the apron, his gaze never leaving his tag team partner. Adams lines Cross up for another Eat It (Fame-Asser), but as Cross stands and Adams leaps up for the move, Cross catches Adams on his shoulders and turns it into his own Requiem's End (Last Falconry)! He starts to move toward the cover, but suddenly stops. He stands up and looks down at AJ Adams before pointing at Zachariah Boone, eliciting a big pop from the crowd!
Nick Webb: I think Cross is offering the kill to his tag team partner!
Rayne: Basically the opposite of what AJ and X.L. have going on right now. HA!
Boone stomps the apron, reaching out his hand. Cross walks over to Boone and tags him in, telling him something inaudibly before stepping onto the apron. Boone jumps into the ring and runs over to AJ Adams, sliding into a pinning position!
1!
2!
Kickout! Adams gets his shoulder up before three.
Nick Webb: Y'know, that might have been three if Cross would have pinned him right away. That move landed right on Adams' neck.
Emily Corlen: Cross is a veteran. He knows what he's doing.
Zachariah Boone stands up and motions for Adams to reach his feet. AJ slowly does so and Boone goes for the STO segment of Nashville Shores - but Adams catches him and lifts him into the air for the GTS! He goes to hit the move, but Boone slides off behind Adams, reaches underneath him, hooks Adams' arms and nails him with the Southern Born (Double Pumphandle Wheelbarrow Driver)! Boone covers from the position where the move landed!
1!
2!
X.L. watches on, not making a single move toward entering the ring, his face emotionless.
3!
DING DING DING!!!
Scott Benjamin: Ladies and gentlemen, here are your winners... KYLE CROSS AND ZACHARIAH BOONE!!!
The bell rings and "Kiss My Country Ass" by Blake Shelton starts playing. Cross enters the ring and holds Boone's arm up, nodding at the young man as he nods back. X.L. Pendergast, meanwhile, just stands there on the apron, showing no emotion even as he glares down at his fallen partner.
Nick Webb: Cross and Boone are victorious! Not to mention Boone got revenge against Adams for his loss last week!
Rayne: That's bull, though! Why didn't Pendergast break up that pin? He had more than enough time!
Nick Webb: I have a feeling X.L. has a different agenda, Rayne.
Indeed, as Cross and Boone exit the ring and start making their way up the ramp, Pendergast finally enters the ring and helps AJ Adams to his feet. He says a few words and AJ nods, before starting to walk away. The moment he turns his back on X.L., though, Pendergast levels Adams in the back of the head with a stiff kick! The fans half cheer, half boo as Cross and Boone look on - they don't like X.L., but they're not very fond of Adams either. As X.L. looks down on AJ with the coldest of stares, Emily finally removes her headset and stands up from the announcer's table, reaching for a microphone as she does.
Emily Corlen: Okay, enough! ENOUGH!
X.L. turns to Emily, as Cross and Boone shift their attention towards the announcer's table from the stage.
Emily Corlen: If you don't mind terribly, MISTER Pendergast, I have an announcement that I think you'll want to hear.
Pendergast merely extends his hand, which Emily takes to mean 'continue'.
Emily Corlen: I've made my decision regarding the six individuals who will be competing inside of Hellbound at Danger Zone next week. All four of you? Kyle Cross, Zachariah Boone, X.L. Pendergast and even AJ Adams? You're all in.
The crowd cheers.
Emily Corlen: I'm also adding Chad Collins to Hellbound.
Boos this time.
Emily Corlen: The sixth man was a little bit tougher to decide. I narrowed it down to one individual - Spykeman!
A big pop from the crowd.
Emily Corlen: HOWEVER, after the debut of Godless tonight and his subsequent beatdown of the masked hero, I cannot, in all good conscience allow Spykeman! to compete in such a barbaric match for the sake of his health.
The cheers turn to loud boos.
Emily Corlen: So, I'm booking Godless against Spykeman! at Danger Zone... and as a special bonus to both men, if they win that match next Monday, they can have a shot at any Championship they choose in BWF in a matter of weeks. And yes, Spykeman!, just for your sake... that includes the defunct Dragonzord Championship you want so badly.
Somewhere, former BWF Owner Gabe Shelley is facepalming.
Emily Corlen: As far as Hellbound goes, then? Five is it. This match will be a traditional, five man Hellbound Match for the vacant BWF World Championship. Chad Collins vs. Zachariah Boone vs. AJ Adams vs. Kyle Cross vs. X.L. Pendergast. Gentlemen? Good luck next week. As a former Hellbound winner... trust me when I say you're going to need it.
Emily sets the microphone down as "She's a Rebel" by Green Day hits and she sits back down, smiling. All of the men who just competed (minus AJ, who is slowly recovering from X.L.'s kick) gaze at one another. Even Cross and Boone are now looking at one another not as allies, but as potential rivals.
Nick Webb: What an announcement! Godless debuts against Spykeman! and the winner gets a title shot of their choosing! Adams, X.L., Cross, Boone and Collins in Hellbound for the BWF World Title! And we don't even know the rest of the pay-per-view card yet! We've been promised a new Sovereign Champion, plus much more!
Rayne: I'll say this much - Danger Zone looks like it's going to be as historic as ever!
Nick Webb: No kidding! For Rayne, I'm Nick Webb... good night from the Target Center! We'll see you in one week at Danger Zone!
We see one more shot of Cross, Boone and Pendergast staring each other down, along with a freshly recovered AJ looking angry as a hornet, as the show fades to the BWF logo, then to black.
