Episode 195 - April 17, 2015
Nick Webb: Welcome ladies and gentlemen to what is bound to be an exciting and important night in BWF’s history! We are just a few short hours away from the launch of the BWF Network and with just one week away until Danger Zone things are sure to be tense! We should hear from Elena Simonova, have an update on Gabe Shelley after getting put through this announce table last week, and lots of in ring action.
Rayne: Chaney and Biafra teaming up to take on X and Park in the main event is huge!
Rayne: Chaney and Biafra teaming up to take on X and Park in the main event is huge!
Nick Webb: Both X and Park will be in for a battle next week at Danger Zone.
Things were set for the first match of the night as Torres eyeballs Stone and Omen IV. Stone Turns to Omen IV and started to hit him with hard left hands. He grabbed Omen and hit a hip toss before getting grabbed by Torres. Torres scooped Stone up and hit a scoop powerslam in the middle of the ring. Omen is up and grabbed Torres but gets picked up and tossed into the corner. Omen jumped to the second rope and delivered a double axe handle smash onto Torres. Stone hit a spinning kick to the gut of Omen before hitting a northern lights suplex. He then climbed to the top rope and looked for a diving splash but Omen rolled out of the way. Omen springboarded off the ropes and hit a lionsault and covered for two as Torres pulled him off. Torres hit a gutbuster on Omen and followed it with a leg drop. Stone looked for a running cross body on Torres but was caught. Torres walked around the ring before hitting a fallaway slam. He started to stalk Stone but was spun around by Omen. Omen hit a kick to the side, then the gut, and followed it with a springboarding backflip into an inverted DDT. Omen started to look for the Mareas Misteriosas (Triangle Choke) on Stone but Stone struggled and grabbed the ropes. He grabbed Omen after standing and dumped him over the top rope with a clothesline. Stone turned around and walked into the Chimuelo (Superman Punch [Translation: Toothless]) by Torres. Torres was hit with a dropkick from the top rope by Omen that launched him across the ring and through the second ropes. Omen rolled Stone up with an Oklahoma roll and picked up the win.
WINNER: Omen IV, via pinfall 9:22
Torres rolled back into the ring and started to attack Omen after the bell. The fans booed as Torres laid into Omen with a series of punches before pulling him to his feet. Torres lifted Omen and looked for the .38 Special (Gunnslinger) but Omen spun around Torres and landed on his feet before dropping to the mat and rolling out of the ring. Omen watched on and laughed as Torres grabbed Stone. Torres lifted Stone up and hit the Boyle Heights Beat (Big Ending).
Rayne: I don’t think Torres is too happy.
Nick Webb: Omen was smart to get out of dodge there.
Karli Frost paces nervously in the back, glancing over her shoulder every few minutes. She is approached by Will Irwin, but despite his presence, her nervous demeanor doesn't appear to soften.
Karli: Oh, hi. Look, I don't have a lot of time to talk right now, I'm sort of having a panic attack.
Will: I know. You haven't had any time to talk at all. We haven't spoken in a week. What's wrong?
Karli: What's wrong? I have a nutjob stalker that seems to want to kill me. I am fighting for my job in a week from today against that crazy bitch and her attack dog. And to top it all off, I'm wrestling two guys tonight and I still don't know who is going to help me with that. I haven't really slept. I haven't had a lot to eat because whenever I do, my stomach sort of flips over and I want to throw up.
Will: Your stomach flips over? You might want to see a doctor about that.
Karli: Dammit Will, this is serious! You're always making jokes, can't you take anything or anyone seriously for even five minutes?
Will: Sorry, I'm just trying to help. Lighten the mood or something...
Karli: I don't have a sense of humor right now, Will.
Karli shakes her head and sighs.
Karli: Look, I'm sorry. It's been a bad week for me. I appreciate your concern and your efforts, but I need to be alone now. If I manage to survive tonight's match, we'll talk later. Just right now, would you mind letting me panic in peace? I would be very grateful for it.
Will: Yeah, sure. We'll talk later.
Will walks away, and Karli returns to pacing and looking around the back of the arena. Toshi Yang approaches her then.
Toshi: Here we are with BWF star, Karli Frost, who is slated to face X-Factor with her mystery partner. Karli, the question that the whole BWF universe wants to know is who will be your partner tonight?
Karli looks at her for a moment before speaking.
Karli: I...I think I'm going to be sick...
Karli runs out of the camera's view, which then focuses on Toshi. She looks in the direction that Karli ran for a moment before shrugging her shoulders.
Toshi: What's wrong with her?
The cameras switch to the backstage area as we see Don McMichael standing by with the BWF logo on a backdrop. He nods as he stands by himself.
Don McMichael: Two weeks ago Hall of Famer Gabe Shelley sent out a challenge to anyone in the back which was answered by Sovereign Champion Fenryr Wulfsson. Last week they went one on one which ended with Fenryr picking up a win and more. After the loss, Gabe Shelley wanted to restart the match and ended up getting put through the announce table. Earlier this week, after the press conference of the BWF Network, I caught up with Gabe.
The scene fades as we’re shown “Earlier this week” in the corner of the screen as Gabe Shelley and Don McMichael seem to be chatting already.
Don McMichael: So what did that loss to Fenryr mean?
Gabe Shelley: I think we all know that the future is bright for Fenryr and the sky's the limit. He continues to grow and if he sticks around I have no doubt he’ll one day be a World Champion. As for me?
He pauses and looks at Don and shrugs.
Gabe Shelley: Look around the BWF right now, Don. Great tag teams, solid up and comers, and there’s good top talent. I meant what I said about things being a blur since Retribution last year. I can sit here and blame AJ Adams all I want for costing me the title back then and say it affected me more than I thought but they’re just excuses. Right now BWF has a lot of tremendous talent and my mind isn’t all there. It’s no secret that I’ve been focused elsewhere and it’s not fair to the BWF fans.
Don McMichael: What are you saying?
Gabe Shelley: My match with Fenryr was a challenge and an ultimatum to myself. Right now? I don’t deserve to compete in the BWF.
Don looks stunned as Gabe pats him on the shoulder and walks away to rejoin the party. The camera fades back to live as we see Don still standing by.
Don McMichael: I can confirm that Gabe Shelley is NOT in the arena tonight and when reached for clarification he just states that “after losing to Fenryr, Gabe Shelley doesn’t deserve to compete in the BWF. Until I can find a way to redeem myself it might be time to step away”.
The camera cuts away as Don walks off.
Stevens flaunted the Chaos Theory Title in the faces of Kash and Havoc before handing it off so he can referee the match. Havoc and Kash lock up as the bell sounds and Havoc gained the upper hand quickly with hard headbutts. He hit a snap suplex on Kash and popped to his feet. Kash is up and rakes the eyes of Havoc and a spinning heel kick. She casually walked around the ring for a few moments and got attacked from behind by Stevens. He clubbed her with a running forearm before mounting for a series of rights. He popped up and hit the Take off his Head (Lariat) to Havoc as he stood. Stevens leans out the ropes and demands his title and he gets it. He watched Kash stand before blasting her with the title to the face. Havoc starts to stand and he got hit with the title on the back of his head. Stevens stood over both competitors before he counts to ten - quickly - then rings the bell and calls for a mic to declare the winner of the match - the last man standing, Chris Stevens!
WINNER: Draw, 1:13
Jackson Wyatt heads out to the ring and informs Chris that as a "reward" for his "hard fought victory", the Chaos Theory Title Match at Danger Zone will be a Triple Threat Match between Chris, Logan and Angel. Stevens shrugs and holds the title before the camera faded away for commercial.
Rayne: What was that?
Nick Webb: I have no idea.
Scott Benjamin: Ladies and gentlemen, at this time, please welcome... hailing from Chicago, Illinois by way of New York City... ELENA SIMONOVA!!!
The crowd begins cheering loudly as all the lights go black. Low red strip lights come on to line the ramp down to the ring and "Centuries" by Fall Out Boy begins blaring over the BlazenTron as the house lights come up. Elena Simonova can be seen, crouched low, with her back to the audience; a red and white spotlight on each side of the stage begin rotating side to side. Elena spins to face the audience while she rises, as a cascading curtain of red pyro falls behind her. Elena walks down to the ring and pulls herself up onto the ring apron, leans back on the top rope and back flips into the ring.
Nick Webb: And the Chicago crowd is going wild for Elena Simonova! We haven't seen the ferocious redhead since she was screwed out of the BWF World Title by Zoe Cooper at Happenstance; and after Cooper went on a tirade against Elena two weeks ago on Havok, we've all been waiting to hear Simonova's response.
Rayne: Well, let ME be the one to break the news that The Wyatts have made Elena Simonova vs. Zoe Cooper official for Danger Zone!
Nick Webb: Danger Zone has always been one of BWF's most anticipated events, and this year's might be the biggest one yet! I can't wait!
Elena takes her time to revel in the passionate cheers from the crowd, making sure to pose in each corner to let all her fans know she cares. She signals for a mic, and upon her receiving it, the crowd begins to quiet down so she can speak.
Elena Simonova: (shouting) What’s up, Chicago?! Let me hear you!
The crowd goes wild again with cheers for Elena, and she bounces on her feet in time to the rhythm of them chanting her name. She has an ear-to-ear smile, and it’s obvious that she loves her fans. After a minute or two, she gestures for the crowd to relax and sit so she can speak.
Nick Webb: I can barely hear myself think out here!
Rayne: Elena might be more popular in Chicago than Phil Brooks! HA!
Elena Simonova: I actually have a dual purpose for being here with all you wonderful people tonight. First and foremost, who wouldn’t want to come and hang with the BEST fans in the BWF! As you all know, I’ve lived here now for several years, and it is NO surprise to me why the BWF would choose THIS city and YOU fans to call home! No other place in the world has the same combination of ferocious loyalty and unabashed demand for excellence! If the BWF is my home, and it IS, then all of you proud Chi-town fans are a part of my family!
Elena pauses to let the fans cheer some more before continuing.
Elena Simonova: Now, to my second purpose here tonight… Zoe Cooper.
Loud choruses of boos strike up, and Elena tries not to smirk too hard.
Elena Simonova: Now, let’s be fair here. She DID make one valid point.
Another chorus of "boos" starts to pick up, but Elena continues on.
Elena Simonova: Emily Corlen did try to screw her over a number of times in my absence. She did. However, I would have thought that someone who had had as much training from me as Zoe did… for someone with as big of an ego as Zoe has… for someone who is constantly yapping about her record and her talent… Well, I would have thought that someone who was REALLY all that Zoe claims to be, would be able to give back even more punishment than she was forced to take… without whining for the "Big Gun" to sort out her problems for her.
Elena flexes her "guns," tapping the mic against her biceps and winking at the crowd.
Rayne: Oh, lord.
Nick Webb: You're just jealous that she's got bigger biceps than you do.
Rayne: THAT'S... eh, yeah. Truth.
Elena Simonova: I never had to rely on anyone else to fight my battles for me. I’ve always stood up and kicked ass no matter what was stacked against me. I don’t get scared. I don’t run away. I don’t back down. The only reason that I stayed out on injured leave for the recommended length of time was so that I could come back, in the best shape possible, and kick some more ass!
More cheers erupt before Elena continues.
Elena Simonova: The simple truth is this: Zoe Cooper failed herself. I saw potential in her, and I tried my best to bring that out of her. But as soon as I’m out of the picture, as soon as I step back to let her gather her own spotlight, she falls flat on her back. Even if we grant her that the deck was stacked against her in dealing with Emily, her losses to me are squarely, and solely, on her. She lost her focus, she ignored the things I taught her, and she FAILED to get the things she wanted.
Rayne: A real teacher would have recognized that her student was suffering and helped her regain her confidence, rather than push her down further!
Nick Webb: No, a REAL teacher shows her student that you can't let anger or disappointment cloud your ability to perform! Elena's absolutely right; once Zoe's undefeated streak ended, she fell apart. How is that Elena's fault?
Rayne: How is that NOT Elena's fault?
Elena walks to one end of the ring and leans lightly against the ropes. Looking thoughtfully at the crowd, she continues.
Elena Simonova: Zoe seeks to vilify me. She wants to make me the scapegoat for all of her failures. I’m an easy target because I tried to help her. Rather than own her mistakes and failings, rather than face her weaknesses and fears head on and come out stronger on the other side… she has taken the easy way out. She has let the bitterness seep into her heart, and she has corrupted her purpose. And that is precisely why she will fail, yet again, against me. It can be difficult and scary to face the darkest parts of ourselves, to truly take an unbiased look in the mirror and assess all the terrible things we’ve done in our lives. But when we do so, we free ourselves of those burdens, and we find the burning fire of passion deep inside. Anger can be useful as a motivational tool, but only insofar as you use it to push yourself beyond your known limits. Succumbing to it, and letting bitterness and jealousy take you "off the hook" for your problems only leads to greater disappointment and greater loss.
Elena pauses momentarily, seeming to collect her thoughts before continuing.
Elena Simonova: Zoe, if you need to make me the "bad guy" so you can go to sleep at night, go ahead. I lose nothing from your seething envy. But mark my words, Zoe. Carrying this covetous burden of yours will be your undoing. You cannot beat me even when you are in tip-top shape; you have no hope of prevailing against me now. Maybe once you are flat on your back, under my boot once again, with the wind knocked of you… maybe you’ll finally be able to get that through your thick skull.
Elena looks like she is about to put down the mic, but pauses, and then moves back to the center of the ring.
Elena Simonova: Zoe, you have once again threatened me with your vague notions of bodily harm. In fact, you’ve promised it. But you forgot one important thing… I know you, Zoe. I know what it looks like when you’re bluffing. This is a yet another promise you are incapable of keeping. But, hey, just try and… Prove. Me. Wrong.
The crowd chants Elena’s catch phrase with her as she sets down the mic, leaves the ring, and slowly makes her way toward back stage while interacting with the fans.
Nick Webb: Well, there you have it. Good friends, better enemies as teacher and student clash at Danger Zone! Elena Simonova isn't backing down...
Rayne: ...and neither is Zoe Cooper! This match is gonna be one for the ages!

Blazenwing and Scene seem to have a lot to say to each other before the match starts. Blazenwing strikes fast with hard left and right kicks to open the bout. Scene took a few of the kicks before starts to strike closely to Blazenwing so he can’t reach out with kicks. He started to throw hard forearms and pushed Scene away. Blazenwing went to charge at Scene but she rocked him with a quick side kick to the gut. Scene hit a spin kick before following it up with a dropsault. She popped to her feet and looked to springboard off the ropes as Blazenwing stood. Scene connected with a springboard backflip into tornado DDT. She hooked a leg but only got a two fall. Blazenwing pulled himself up and grabbed Scene, scooping her up and hit a swinging scoop slam into a backbreaker. Blazenwing watched Scene get up and caught her with a spinning clothesline as she turned to him. Blazenwing covered but only picked up two. He pulled her up and lifted for a suplex and connected in the middle of the ring. Blazenwing started to call for the Legacy Effect (Snap Sweet Chin Music) and Scene climbed to her feet. She ducked the incoming Legacy Effect and looked to win with a small package. Blazenwing popped out at two and Scene quickly got to her feet and hit a pop-up 3/4 cutter. Scene climbed to the top rope and looked to connect with the F.M.L.B. [Fat Man Little Boy] (Shooting Star Knee Drop) but Blazenwing rolled out of the way. Scene rose to her feet and turned into The Blazenwing (Running Discus Elbow). Blazenwing covered and picked up the win.
WINNER: Jay Blazenwing, via pinfall 9:19
X-Factor is in the ring as Karli Frost stands on the apron and talks to the referee as she looks like she’s about to vomit.
Rayne: I volunteer myself as tribute!
Nick Webb: There has to be someone that’ll come help Karli.
The BlazenTron lights up and goes static for a moment before coming back on and we go backstage and see Fenryr Wulfsson watching the event on a monitor. Don McMichael starts to walk up to him by someone pushes him out of the way and starts to brawl with Fenryr as the crowd goes insane. The two men share left and right hands that are fast and furious . Fenryr starts to lift the guy up for the 9-9-9 (Gorilla Press Slam) but he’s able to get free and fall to his feet. Fenryr is hit with a hard kick to the head that staggers him backwards. There’s another kick incoming and Fenryr is able to duck it and push the guy who then falls backwards and flips over a catering table as Jell-O spills onto the floor. Fenryr grabs the Sovereign Title and leaves as Don McMichael starts to get to his feet, the other guy getting checked on.
Rayne: What in the hell?
Nick Webb: I’ve never seen that guy here before.
Rayne: Maybe Fenryr has some past that we don’t know about?
Nick Webb: He looked about as confused as we do.
Rayne: Is he coming out here?
The guy has popped to his feet and makes his way towards the pit and the stage. An image flashes across the screen as “Hero” by Nas kicks up.
A man walks out onto the stage in wrestling gear, the same man that attacked Fenryr backstage. He smiles and looks over to Karli Frost. He has a microphone in hand and speaks fairly good English but his accent can definitely be detected.
Kaito Hirano: My name is Kaito Hirano. I am here to help Miss Karli. I attacked Mr. Fenryr backstage because I am here for redemption. Not for myself, for my sensei, my trainer. I am a graduate of the Empire Wrestling Academy and am here to fight for the honor of Gabe Shelley.
The fans pop as Hirano looks around and makes his way to the ring.
Kaito Hirano: Tonight I help you Miss Karli. Then we go to Danger Zone where you get your revenge and I get redemption.
Hirano jumps to the apron and bows to Frost as she starts to seem more calmed. He offers to enter first to give her more time to get herself together and she agrees. Hirano jumped into the ring and the bell sounds as he locks up with Strife. Strife came out quick against the rookie and hit a few slaps to the chest. Hirano comes back with slaps of his own before hitting a spinning kick to the gut. He swung his leg up and kicked Strife in the chest as he was doubled over. Hirano followed it with another kick to the side and then one to the head. Strife fell to a knee which allowed Hirano to hit a jumping DDT. Hirano tagged out as Strife crawled to his corner and made a tag to Cloud. Cloud and Frost lock up and he was able to drive a knee into her gut. Cloud followed with a hip toss on Frost. She rolled to her feet and hit a jumping dropkick on Cloud as he charged. She pulled him up and lifted him and connected with a vertical suplex. She kept the momentum going and pulled Cloud back up and ducked a clothesline and his a Russian leg sweep. Frost made a tag and Hirano jumped over the top rope into the ring. He ran off the ropes and hit a dropkick to the head as Cloud was on all fours. He started to pull Cloud up and was pushed away. Cloud looked for a jumping forearm but Hirano caught him with a kick to the gut. He ran to the corner the furthest away from Cloud. Cloud stood and Hirano ran and caught him with a running dropkick. He popped back up and and ran to the corner again. He grabbed it and bend backwards as he screamed. Cloud tried to stand but Hirano hit the Yoi Yume O (Running knee to knelt opponent [Translation: Sweet Dreams]). Hirano tagged in Frost as Strife tried to jump in the ring. Hirano scooped up Strife and hit him with the Oyasumi (Fireman’s Carry Overhead Kick [Translation: Goodnight]). Frost had climbed to the top rope and came diving onto Cloud with the Tomkitty (Frog Splash Double Elbow Drop) and covered for the win.
WINNERS: Karli Frost and Kaito Hirano, via pinfall 9:22
Hirano pumped his fist as he raised the hand of Frost.
X and Park talk over some strategy before the match begins and the veteran X will be the first to go for his team as he stands across from Biafra. X mouths off to Chaney and tells him to get in the ring. The bell sounded and Biafra locks up with X. X is pushed to down but pops right back up and levels Biafra with a hard clothesline. Biafra got to his feet and hit a shoot kick to the side of X before hitting the Quickiller (Spinning Backfist). X fell backwards and made the tag to Park. Park climbed in and hit a running forearm to Biafra. She pulled him back up and starts to hit him with lefts and rights as she backed him into the corner. She kept up the wild punches as she screamed and the referee told her to break out of the corner. She took a four count before walking away from Biafra. She charged and looked for a corner splash but Biafra moved out of the way and tagged out. Chaney got into the ring and hit a shoulder block on Park as she charged at him. She hit a headbutt that just made Chaney laugh. He hit her with a headbutt of his own before a bionic elbow. Chaney hit a gutwrench powerbomb on Park. He then hit the ropes and jumped as he delivered a jumping senton. Park seemed to lose her breath as she tried to get to the corner to take up but Chaney pulled her to his corner and tagged out to Biafra. Biafra pulled Park up to her feet and said something inaudible to her before setting her up for a powerbomb. Park started to hit Biafra and came crashing down onto his chest. Park was able to tag out to X with the opening. He entered the ring and pulled Biafra up and drove him to the mat with a spinning spinebuster. Biafra pulled X down as he hit the mat and locked in a grapevine and drived to lock in some sort of arm submission but X was able to struggle free. Biafra made the tag to Chaney who climbed into the ring. Chaney charged at X but he ducked and Park ate a running big boot to the face that knocked her off the apron and hard into the barricade. X grabbed Chaney and pulled him to the center of the ring and looked for the Straight Jacket (Half Nelson, Half Chickenwing) but Chaney was able to struggle free. He drove a knee into the gut of X and hit the Punchline (Package Piledriver) and covered for the win.
WINNERS: Allen Chaney and Van Biafra, via pinfall 11:36
X popped up just after three and looked at the referee as Chaney rolled out of the ring to grab the BWF World Championship. Biafra was on the outside of the ring and tossed Park back into the barricade was she tried to stand up. Biafra leaned down to say something to the fallen Park as Chaney mouthed off the X as he walked up the ramp backwards.
Rayne: Allen Chaney just pinned X in the middle of the ring.
Nick Webb: And Van Biafra more than likely promised to end Brianna Park at Danger Zone.
Rayne: X hasn’t held the title since 2004. 2004! That will not change at Danger Zone because, well, Chaney. Plain and simple.
Nick Webb: X is fired up.
X leans over the top rope and tells Chaney he got lucky and to “bring it on, punk”. Chaney just holds the title high.
Nick Webb: Folks! We’re just minutes away from the launch of the BWF Network! We’ll see you next week at Danger Zone!
We get one last shot of Chaney as we fade to black, BWF logo, the Network countdown, and then black.

Time to Prove Something

Redemption is Coming
