Hearts on Fire - February 27, 2015
We get flashes of the past few weeks of BWF that show new talent emerging and standing tall in the center of the ring. The shot fades to see Jay Blazenwing picking up a shocking win against Sabrina Scott for the International Championship and the celebration that followed. We cut to Alison James hitting a Surface of Revolution on Kara Scene before we get a shot of getting to see Van Biafra hitting the Full Moon Special on Chris Maverick.
Voice Over: Tonight, many paths shall come to a collision. We should have seen this coming. The writing was on the wall.
The video cuts to Gabe Shelley battling with Allen Chaney before we see Chaney destroy David Slayton with multiple Punchlines. We get a few clips of Zoe Cooper and Elena Simonova in tag team action before seeing Johnny Maverick hit the OF!MF! on AJ Adams before we switch to Adams hit Derrick Lenko with the Legacy Maker (Sister Abigail).
Voice Over: Even though the cold winds blow, we’re all burning like a flame. We burn with desire to be the best.
The final shot shows AJ Adams and Allen Chaney staring each other down.
Voice Over: We burn. The time is here. Hearts on Fire.
We cut see the crowd cheering as the BlazenTron and stage are rocked with a pyro show as the fans roar in cheers. The camera pans are the arena before going ringside where Nick Webb and Rayne are standing by.
Nick Webb: Welcome ladies and gentlemen! We’re live right here inside the PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Rayne: It’s a heat wave! We’ve been stuck in Chicago where it’s been colder than a witch’s tit but it was 45 degrees outside here today! With sun! Did you know I hate winter?
Nick Webb: Well things surely will be heated tonight, Rayne, as our main event features two men that naturally despise each other.
Rayne: I’m supposed to supply the puns.
Nick Webb: Tonight AJ Adams will defend the BWF World Championship against the number one contender Allen Chaney.
Rayne: After seeing Chaney destroy the BWF Founder it be smart for Adams to just hand the title over. Don’t forget that he cost Chaney a match against Gabe Shelley when he attacked him with a chair!
Nick Webb: I don’t think AJ is just going to hand the title over but he sure is in for one hell of a fight tonight. There’s a lot of other action tonight too including a match that’s been brewing for a while. Fenryr Wulfsson defends the Sovereign Championship against Van Biafra in a cage match!
Rayne: I can’t wait!
Nick Webb: Let’s start tonight’s action with a man from right here in Raleigh!
Sebastian Tailor made his way to the ring first as he played to the hometown crowd and they showed him the support. BWF Hall of Famer Casey Campbell made his way to the ring next to the delight of a bunch of the ladies in the crowd.
Nick Webb: Don’t forget that Tailor already holds one victory over Campbell.
Rayne: Beginners luck.
The match started with an angered Campbell attacking Tailor and rushing in against the ropes and throwing hard lefts and rights that quickly got the referee yelling at Campbell to break and get off the ropes. Tailor couldn’t defend himself and the referee began the disqualification count and Campbell backed away at 4. Campbell came charging and clotheslined Tailor over the top ropes to the floor below. Webb and Rayne pointed out that Campbell had a fire in him that we hadn’t seen in some time and that it didn’t look good for Tailor. Tailor slid back into the ring, not backing down, and came jumping at Campbell with a flying clothesline. Campbell staggered but stayed on his feet as Tailor hit the ropes and hit another clothesline that just staggered Campbell. Tailor hit the ropes and ducked a clothesline from Campbell on his return which caused him to hit the ropes again. As Campbell turned he was rocked with a dropkick that send him hard into the corner, his head bouncing off a turnbuckle. Tailor pulled Campbell to his feet and the two men shared a few headlocks but Campbell was clearly able to overpower most holds by Tailor. Campbell help Tailor up for a stalling suplex for a 10 second count that impressed the fans. Tailor got up dazed and was taken down by a few hard clotheslines by Campbell. Campbell started to focus on the arm and shoulder of Tailor with various holds and submission moves. Tailor was able to counter a few and get to the ropes for others. Both men were looking impressive but Tailor started to get the fans behind him with a few quick strikes as Webb pointed out that’s how you had to beat Campbell. Campbell tried for a Russian leg sweep but Tailor battled out with two hard elbows that opened up a chance for a jumping DDT. Tailor climbed the ropes and came flying with a missile dropkick and began to stomp his foot. Campbell rose and was hit with the Tailor Made (Sweet Chin Music) and Tailor picked up the pinfall.
WINNER: Sebastian Tailor, via pinfall [10:37]
Rayne: I can’t believe it! Sebastian Tailor has beaten Casey Campbell again!
Tailor celebrated as the hometown crowd showered him in cheers. He leaned out of the ropes and asked for a microphone as Scott Benjamin came over and handed him one. Tailor looked around the ring and tried to catch his breath a bit.
Sebastian Tailor That was for all of you Raleighites out there! In fact I have something else for all of you and all of my fans. I’ve done a lot of things in my illustrious career but there’s something exciting about winning the BWF World Championship. With that being said I am officially entering myself into the 2015 Happenstance Tournament where I will go on to win, get a shot at Danger Zone in April, and then become an eleven-time World Champion!
He drops the microphone and starts to leave the ring.
Rayne: Think he has a shot?
Nick Webb: Two wins over Casey Campbell is nothing to scoff at, Rayne. In fact I think he could be a favorite to win it all.
Rayne: I need more to convince me.
Sabrina Scott bounced her way to the ring and made sure to say hello to as many fans on the ramp as she could as she was heavily cheered. Jay Blazenwing made his way to the ring as he made sure to keep touching the International Title around his waist. Blazenwing entered the ring and handed the title off as the referee held it high as the match was announced. Blazenwing nodded to Scott as the bell sounded the start of the title bout. The two competitors locked up and Scott quickly took the champion down with a toe drag and locked in a leg lock and started to target the right leg. Scott would break the hold to drop an elbow on stomp on the right leg of Blazenwing as the fans watched on. Blazenwing was finally able to slide out of the ring under the bottom rope and tried to “walk it off” and stretched his leg against the barricade. Scott looks around and smiles before hitting the ropes far from Blazenwing. She cartwheels and does a backflip over the top rope and moonsaults onto Blazenwing as the fans pop!
Nick Webb: Sabrina Scott pulling out all the stops here tonight!
Rayne When a championship is on the line you have to go big or go home. Sabrina wants to go big and go home as a two time International Champion!
Blazenwing and Scott were both slow to get to their feet and the referee was even at a 7 count but Scott rolled in and then right back out of the ring to reset the count. She grabbed the right leg of Blazenwing and lifted it before driving it into the ground on the outside of the ring, little give on the padding around the ring. Scott pulled Blazenwing back up to his feet and rolled him in the ring and covered for only a two count. Scott grabbed the leg of Blazenwing and locked in the Scott Lock (Indian Deathlock) and Blazenwing was clearly in pain but refused to submit. Blazenwing battled out by leaning over and dealing blows to the head of Scott. She broke the hold and Blazenwing didn’t give her an inch as he threw every strike he could think of her in rapid succession. Hard elbows, right hands, palm strikes, all to stagger Scott. On one leg Blazenwing was able to relay a bit on his suplexes and hit a few snap suplexes on the challenger. Scott popped up and was dropped with a gutwrench suplex. Blazenwing hit a spinebuster as Scott got back to her feet and covered for a two count. They both got to their feet and the champion took Scott right back down with a Samoan drop. Blazenwing started to mount some offense with a few scoop slams but Scott started to battle back. She was able to trip Blazenwing with a toe hold and he was hung up on the ropes. Scott hit the Blue Light Special (619) and called for the Seeing Stars (Springboard Colliding Headbutt) as Blazenwing stood but as she started to come down, Blazenwing blasted her with the Blazenwing (Discus Elbow) and dove into a cover for the win.
WINNER AND STILL BWF INTERNATIONAL CHAMPION: Jay Blazenwing, via pinfall [15:43]
Nick Webb: What a win by Jay Blazenwing!
Sabrina Scott started to come to as Jay Blazenwing is handed the title, leaning against a turnbuckle. He hugs it as she shakes her head in disbelief.
Nick Webb: Scott spend the match making sure that Blazenwing couldn’t use that Superkick like last time and she was still taken down coming off those ropes.
Blazenwing hobbled to the middle of the ring and offers his hand for Scott to shake and she’s clearly frustrated and just started walk away and started to duck out of the ropes as Blazenwing just stood there. She mumbled something to herself and turned around and shook the hand of Blazenwing to the delight of the fans.
Nick Webb: It must be hard to shake someone’s hand after losing to them, not only once, but twice.
Rayne: I’m still trying to figure out how Jay even once once.
Scott left the ring and allowed Blazenwing to celebrate a bit longer before limping up the ramp to the back.
Keep Calm and Woosah
Fenryr sits on a chair in the back, near the dressing room, looking very relaxed. Suddenly a high pitched scream pierces the relative calm. Rune comes around the corner, obviously furious. Fenryr stands up as Rune walks right up to him.
Fenryr Wulfsson: What the hell, woman? I'm over here trying to get in the zone and you come around the corner screaming like that? It's not real good for my zen, Rune.
Rune Sigidottir: I don't care! I'm going to have to kill that girl!
Fenryr Wulfsson: You lose?
Rune crosses her arms, a stern look on her face.
Rune Sigidottir: Lose? Me? I should slap you for that...
Fenryr Wulfsson: Are you seriously this upset after winning a match? Why don't you become a Lakers fan and go bust a windshield in the parking lot or something.
Rune Sigidottir: She ruined my hair. She grabbed it and threw me onto the mat. On my face.
Fenryr looks at Rune's hair. It's a little out of place, but nothing that a few minutes of her time wouldn't fix.
Fenryr Wulfsson: I don't see it.
Rune Sigidottir: My make up? Again, the mat and my face met. Real up close and personal.
Again. Nothing way too obvious here. Fenryr shrugs and sits back in his chair.
Fenryr Wulfsson: Nope. Maybe next time you won't have your hair and makeup done before a match. I told you when you were doing it that it was a stupid idea.
Rune Sigidottir: Shut up. I still can't believe that the referee let her get away with that. This fed has the worst referees in the world.
Fenryr Wulfsson: NFL is worse, I hear. Besides, it's a wrestling match, not a beauty contest.
Fenryr leans back in the chair again, closing his eyes and trying to relax. Rune narrows her eyes and shifts her weight from one leg to the other, looking as if she's expecting something. Fenryr opens one eye and looks up at her.
Fenryr Wulfsson: Oh. Which, of course, you would easily win. Even with that frumpy hair and ruined makeup.
Rune rolls her eyes and shakes her head before walking into the dressing room, slamming the door behind her.The camera goes back to Fenryr's face, and he appears to be well on his way to inner peace (or inner chaos) once again.
All six competitors made it down to the ring for the next championship bout. Omen IV and Jackson, followed by Static Age, followed lastly by the Tag Team Champions Justicars of Illium. The match is announced as a tornado tag team bout as all six competitors looked at the Tag Team Titles as the referee held them up before calling for the bell to start the match. There was an explosion of action right at the start as all six competitors met in the middle of the ring and started to land wildly thrown shots at each other. Kara Scene could be made out of the crowd as she rocked Omen IV with a step up enziguri. We then see Alison James rock Leland Morgan with a jumping dropkick. Kristy Jackson spin kicks Destiny Figgins in the side of the head. Jackson is taken down by James with a suplex. Scene takes down James with a dropsault and the crowd goes crazy for the wild start.
Rayne: So much action I can’t keep it all straight!
Nick Webb: It’s hard to say who has an advantage in a match like this because anything could happen.
Rayne: You know who doesn’t have the advantage? The champs.
Jackson is to her feet and is now exchanging blows with Morgan as the two try to gain the upper hand and it quickly goes to Morgan as he is able to get behind Jackson and take her down with a big German suplex. Morgan pops up and delivers a German to Omen IV as he stands. He grabs Figgins as he stands and hits a big back drop. Morgan then goes to grab James along with Scene and they hit a double suplex. Static Age looks over the early destruction and nod to each other and start to stomp on the fallen competitors. Scene hits a jumping elbow on Omen IV and looks for a second but it locked up with Jackson. Jackson is able to spin and kick Scene in the gut and drops to her knees and hits Scene with an uppercut. Morgan is taken down from behind as James comes flying in with a running dropkick to his back that sends him out of the ring. Figgins and Jackson are now battling it out and there’s so much going on that it’s hard to follow. Scene gets ganged up on by Figgins and James but is able to hold her own pretty well but the Tag Champs hit a double flapjack on Scene, covering for only a two as Jackson breaks up the pin. Everyone grabs someone and everyone tackles their dancing partner and fight through the ropes or over them. All except for Morgan and James. James turns and eats a kick to the gut and it’s followed by the Hybrid Moment (Bomb Ye Knee). Jackson is in the ring and is quickly disposed by Figgins with the Tony Jaa (Flying Knee Bash). Figgins is grabbed by Morgan as he and Scene hit the Sincere Apology (Powerbomb [Morgan] and Backstabber [Scene].
Rayne: What a move!
Before Static Age can go for the pin we see Jackson come flying in and takes both members out with the Suicide Attack (Swanton Bomb). Omen IV comes flying off the top ropes next and hits Figgins with the El Mal Presagio (450 Backflip into Senton) and covers to shock the world as he gets the pinfall win.
WINNERS AND NEW BWF TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: Kristy Jackson and Omen IV [13:22]
Scene could be seen diving for Omen IV as the pinfall happened but was not in time. Omen slid out of the ring and hugged Jackson as they were handed the title belts. James checked on her tag team partner as Morgan watched on as the new champs walked by in celebration.
Rayne: New champs!
Nick Webb: Wow. You have to feel for Static Age. They were that close from winning the belts. You know this isn’t going to be the end of their quest for them BWF Tag Team Championship.
High Regard
We’re joined backstage by BWF Reporter Will Irwin who is standing by with Gabe Shelley. The crowd in Raleigh pops as Shelley comes into view on the camera in his street clothes. He smiles as he can faintly hear the cheers.
Will Irwin: I’m standing by with BWF Hall of Famer Gabe Shelley, who has a chance at becoming the number one contender for the BWF World Championship here tonight. Gabe, after being in this position so many times what goes through your mind before a match like this?
Shelley takes just a few moments to think before looking back and forth between Irwin and the camera.
Gabe Shelley: No matter how many times you go into any type of match you always want to go in focused on your opponent. I’m lucky enough that tonight I’m entering the ring against someone I fully respect in and out of the ring. I know that Johnny is going to bring nothing less than 100% and I love that. I’m expecting a great match, Will. Most competitors wrestle their best in two conditions; against someone you respect or someone you truly hate. I’m looking to bring out my best.
Will Irwin: The stakes are high tonight as the winner will go on to compete in a triple threat match for the BWF World Championship.
Gabe Shelley: Bingo. That’s in the back of my mind tonight though. There’s too many variables right now to worry about it. Will AJ be the champion or will Allen Chaney beat him tonight? Will Zoe Cooper defeat her mentor? I’ll be watching them but at the same time I’ll be using every minute I can to get ready for Johnny. I’m hoping to give these fans a classic and go onto Happenstance. Then we’ll start talking about four time BWF Champion. That all starts tonight. Now, if you excuse me, I need to go get ready.
Irwin and Shelley shake hands as we pan away.
Trash cans, lids, stop signs, and various other objects litter the outside of the ring as we’re set for our next match. Chris Maverick makes his way to the ring but before he can make it he’s attacked from behind by Logan Havoc and tossed against the ring, back first. Havoc wails on Maverick with hard shots to the head before tossing him into the ring. Havoc grabs a chair and rolls into the ring and smashes it into the back of his opponent. He drives the chair into his spine multiple times before tossing it over the ropes. Havoc covers but is only able to get a two count. Maverick has to fight to get to his feet but finally does and dumps Havoc over his shoulders with a backdrop. Maverick pulls Havoc to his feet and yells in his face before tossing him up and over the top rope.
Rayne: Why do these two not like each other again?
Nick Webb: I think Maverick thinks Havoc is jealous of him? I’m not entirely sure.
Maverick dives through the second rope and hits a headbutt on Havoc that then sends him falling backwards into the announce table. Maverick grabs a cooking sheet and smacks and bends it over the head of Havoc. He tosses it and then grabs Havoc by the hair and drives him face first into the steel post. Maverick bounces Havoc’s head off the steel steps multiple times and Havoc is busted open and bleeding. Maverick hits a suplex on the outside of the ring and slowly stands and smiles. Maverick starts to pick Havoc up on to his shoulder and looks to drive him face first into the post again but Havoc is able to slide behind Maverick and pushes him into the post. Havoc grabs Maverick and rolls him into the ring. Havoc tosses a chair into the ring and follows after it. Havoc sees Maverick seated in the corner and charges before hitting him with a running big boot. Havoc opens the chair and sets it up in the middle of the ring and pulls Maverick up. He sets him up, lifts, and connects with the Havoc’s End (Cross Legged Fisherman DDT) onto the open chair. Havoc covers and picks up the pinfall.
WINNER: Logan Havoc [8:54]
Bubble... Popped
The camera shifts backstage, where we see Sabrina Scott walking dejectedly, eyes on the floor, following her loss earlier in the evening to Jay Blazenwing. She looks up and sees Senior Interviewer Don McMichael, mic in hand.
Don McMichael: Sabrina... I understand if you're not up for it, but... any chance I could grab a quick word?
Sabrina looks over her shoulder, almost wistfully, before turning back to Don and forcing the biggest smile she can muster.
Sabrina Scott: For you, Donnie, of course.
Don McMichael: First off, let me just say... tough loss out there tonight, kiddo. It really looked like you had Jay on the ropes, but again, he found a way to pull out the win and hold onto the International Title.
Sabrina nods.
Don McMichael: Where do you go from here?
Sabrina Scott: I... you know... I guess I don't know. I haven't had a hard time defeating anybody until Jay came along. Heck, he's the first guy to beat me legitimately.
Don McMichael: Legitimately?
Sabrina Scott: Before losing to Jay, I only lost to Liz Smalls in IWA and Ryan Overstreet in eWo Underground. I threw the match against Liz because my boyfriend at the time, her brother, convinced me it was the right thing to do. What a joke, right? And Overstreet only beat me because of interference. But Jay... I just don't get what I'm doing wrong.
She sighs sadly.
Sabrina Scott: Maybe I just can't beat Jay.
Don McMichael: Are you... admitting defeat? That doesn't sound like the Sabrina Scott I know.
Sabrina Scott: Oh, goodness no! I want another shot; another chance to prove that my winning that title in the first place wasn't a fluke. I keep making rookie mistakes against Jay... but I'm better than that. We both know that.
Don McMichael: Well, I certainly hope you're able to get another shot at the International Title.
Sabrina Scott: I'm going to prove that I deserve another shot... and when I do, I'm not going to choke again. To borrow a phrase from Miss Zoe Cooper... that's a promise.
Sabrina flashes a hopeful grin, her faith in herself renewed, and gives a peace sign to the camera, and then pats Don on the shoulder before walking off. Don nods to the camera and we fade back to ringside.
The cage has been lowered for the next match and the fans are buzzing as the match is hyped by Webb. Van Biafra made his way to the ring first and enters through the door and walks around, shaking the cage. Fenryr Wulfsson comes down next as Rune stands behind him, carrying the Sovereign Championship. Fenryr entered the ring and is handed the title from Rune as he holds it high before handing off the a referee on the outside of the ring. The two men start to exchange words with each other before Biafra rocks the champion with a right hand that drops him. Fenryr got to his feet and pushed Biafra hard into the ropes and ducked an incoming clothesline. Fenryr turned and clubbed Biafra from behind and drops him face first onto the mat. Biafra got back to his feet and the two men locked up. Fenryr overpowered Biafra and locked in a bearhug, trying to squeeze the life out of his opponent. Biafra hammered Fenryr’s back again and again to cause a break and hit a hard uppercut. Biafra let out a primal howl before spiking Fenryr with a DDT.
Nick Webb: It’s clear that these two men do not like each other at all. Van wants that Sovereign Championship back.
Rayne: That’s because the belt should be his! Van has not forgotten Survival of the Sickest.
Biafra has started to climb the cage but Fenryr is there to pull him back down. Fenryr connects with a kick to the gut and then hits a release gutwrench powerbomb. Fenryr pulled Biafra back up and lifts him for the 9-9-9 (Gorilla Press Slam) but Biafra battled out by holding onto the cage. Biafra refused to let go as Fenryr turns and pulls on his legs. The grip of Biafra slips and Fenryr hits a waterwheel slam! Fenryr covered but is only able to get a two count. Biafra is pulled to his feet and explodes with a series of shoot kicks and punches. Biafra rocked Fenryr with the Quickiller (Spinning Backfist) that hits him square in the jaw. The champion falls into the corner and allows Biafra the chance to lift him to the top rope. Biafra stood on the second turnbuckle and hit a superplex which was followed by a cover that only got two. The two men were both slow to their feet but Biafra was up first. Biafra hit a kick and tried for the Full Moon Special (Jumping Package Piledriver) but Fenryr backdropped him over. Biafra was quick up and was spun around and locked into a full nelson. Fenryr hit the Gravedigger (Full Nelson Legsweep Faceplant) and covered for a two count.
Nick Webb: Back and forth action and neither man able to get the pinfall yet.
Fenryr rolled his neck as he pulled Biafra to his feet and whipped him hard into the cage as it shook. Fenryr did the same to the other side of the cage as Biafra staggered around. Fenryr went for a third but Biafra reversed it and send the champ face first into the cage. Biafra set Fenryr up and hit the Full Moon Special and dove into the cover and only picked up two, about as close to three without it being three. The fans couldn’t believe it as they thought Biafra had it won. Biafra pulled Fenryr up and the champion exploded with one last burst of energy with a Samoan drop and then lifted Biafra as he stood and hit the Oathbreaker (Vertical Suplex Piledriver) but couldn’t spike Biafra as well as he wanted to. Both men were down in the middle of the ring as the fans tried to rally Biafra to his feet and he started to stir and used the ropes to pull himself up. He started to scale the cage and Fenryr wasn’t far behind. Biafra got to the top first but Fenryr held his legs to stop him from climbing over. Fenryr and Biafra were both straddling the cage as they exchanged lefts and rights. Fenryr bounced Biafra’s head off the cage and hooked his arms. The referees on the outside yelled at Fenryr to stop but he got to a knee and used his power to lift Biafra up and sent him down to the mat a Hel Road (Double Underhook Powerbomb) from the top of the cage! Fenryr climbed down the cage back into the ring and fell across Biafra and picked up the pinfall.
WINNER AND STILL BWF SOVEREIGN CHAMPION: Fenryr Wulfsson, via pinfall [17:26]
Nick Webb: What an ending! I think we just saw the future of BWF in these two men here tonight. I have a feeling that this won’t be the last time that these two step foot across from each other in a BWF ring either.
The cage is raised as Rune checks on Fenryr as he exits the ring and is handed the Sovereign Championship, referees checking on Biafra as we go backstage.
Toxic Tart
Akemi paced a hole in the floor, waiting not so patiently for something while muttering downtrodden things to herself. Coming into view, Toshi Yang scans the interview area for a star she wishes to question. Instead, Akemi finds Toshi and taps her on the shoulder. Toshi turns to the taller woman with a perplexed glance.
Akemi Hayashi: When is Kemi's match? Kemi waiting forever!
She says in an exasperated tone. Toshi knows the answer, but wonders if it is wise to tell it. She has had enough experience with Akemi in BWF and other places to know Akemi eccentric mannerisms, especially the the mood she's showing. She finds it best to tell the truth, however.
Toshi Yang: You don't have one tonight. Looks like you need a night off. You look tired.
She tries to ease to tension radiating from Akemi, who is just depressingly shaking her head.
Akemi Hayashi: They think Kemi not good enough. They think Kemi should go back to wearing stupid hoody and losing.
Toshi tries to offer a soft pat on the shoulder to console the girl. Against the nagging thought in the back of her mind that she should create as much distance in as short a time as possible.
Toshi Yang: You came a long way from the hoodie ninja. Everyone knows that.
The shaking of Akemi's head becomes a lot more frantic. Her arms tremble.
Akemi Hayashi: NO! Can't you see the poison queen sitting on your shoulder? She's… judging me. They're all judging me. Tell them to stop....MAKE THEM STOP!
The interviewer falls short on words to say, and begins to back away.
Toshi Yang: Um, yes. Let me get to that.
Toshi turns and quickly walks out of frame, Akemi staring off into the distance.
Coming Soon to PPV
Friday, March 27, 2015
Up next was the first of two number one contendership matches as the fans cheer loudly for Zoe Cooper. Webb and Rayne run down the career that Cooper has already had is on the verge of being able to add to it if she can make it to Happenstance. Elena Simonova came to the ring with lots of theatrics as the fans welcomed her. The two ladies smiled at each other as Webb ran down their past together as former Tag Team Champions. Simonova and Cooper were ready to go as soon as the bell sounded and we saw Cooper come out fast and strong as if trying to prove something. Hard kicks to start the bout got Simonova off balance and doubled over as she took one to the gut. Cooper grabbed Simonova and hit a quick facebuster and tried for an early pin but only got one. Simonova slid out of the ring to get a few moments to pull herself together and climbed the stairs and back into the ring. They lock back up and Simonova whips Cooper into the corner and hits the 200 Proof (Lifting Corner Knee Strike to Monkey Flip). Simonova took control of the match and started to wear down Cooper with locks and holds to her right knee.
Nick Webb: Simonova starting to pick apart Cooper.
Rayne: Slowing down Cooper is a smart tactic but I wouldn’t count her out just yet.
Simonova had Cooper locked in a single leg crab but Cooper was able to reach the ropes to force a break and get to her feet. Simonova looked for the Hammer and Sickle (Running Double Axe Handle, followed by buzzsaw kick) but Cooper was able to duck the axe handle and hit the Revolutions Per Minute (Rolling Dodge into a Spear) and dove into a cover for two. Cooper pulled Simonova to her knees and started to rock her with a series out hard karate style kicks, Kicking it Old School. One of the kicks blasted Simonova in the head and caused her to go on all fours. Cooper pulled Simonova back to her knees and tried to lock in the Z-Clamp (Dragon Sleeper with Scissors) but Simonova was able to slip away and battle out. Cooper picked Simonova up for a sideslam but Simonova flipped over and started to lock in the Iron Curtain (Black Widow) but Cooper struggled and wouldn’t allow her to lock in her arm. Cooper was still struggling and was able to get to the ropes and grabbed one to force a break. Rayne says she dodged a bullet as the hold is broken. Cooper explodes with a hard running forearm, followed by another, followed by another, as Simonova kept popping up. Cooper charged and looked for the Face Replacer (Running Bryan-Style Knee) but Simonova dodges and rolls Cooper up with a roll up and picks up the three count!
WINNER: Elena Simonova, via pinfall [11:52]
Nick Webb: Simonova rolls up Cooper and becomes the number one contender for the BWF World Championship!
Rayne: Cooper looks devastated.
Simonova starts to motion for the title belt around her waist as she stands on the second turnbuckle, celebrating. The crowd split on the decision as half was pulling for Cooper as well. Cooper rolls out of the head and shakes her head as we fade to a quick commercial before coming back.
Springing Into Action
The Hearts of Fire crowd is unfamiliar with the man in the ring right now. He is wearing a professional business suit and has a clipboard and microphone.
Guy in Ring: Good evening ladies and gentlemen, my name is Joshua Goldstein and I represent the Federal Communications Commision or 'FCC'. I have a few things I have to go over with all of you so you are aware in the future. These are some small changes that will be made to help keep the BWF broadcasts a little cleaner. First off, we are going to be enforcing some changes to language, so no one is dropping 'f bombs' or 'c bombs' on the air.
The audience voices their disapproval with a 'FUCK THAT SHIT' chant.
Joshua Goldstein: Also, we are seeing to it that chairs, tables, barbed wire, or any other 'weapons' will not be used on programming and finally, all female wrestlers will not be allowed to show cleavage or their midriff on air."
The audiences booing has become deafening.
Joshua Goldstein: Look I'm sorry but I'm just doing my job. These changes will be implemented as soon as I turn my notes int-
Joshua is interrupted by all of the lights turning off. The P.A. Plays the sounds of cop cars driving around with their sirens blaring.
VOICE-OVER: Batman has Gotham...
We see on the tron a clip of a man in shadow suiting uo.
VOICE-OVER: Superman has Metropolis... but this...
We see the man onscreen climb to the roof of BWF headquarters from behind (still in shadow) the wind blowing his cape in the air dramatically.
VOICE-OVER: This is the city I protect. The BWF.
The video stops and we are left in silence and darkness for a moment. Then a spotlight turns on, projecting the image of 'S!' on the roof of the building and the crowd goes NUTS. Rayne audibly groans as the Powerglove cover of the 'Power Rangers' theme begins playing. A second spotlight focuses on the entrance ramp and we see the same figure facing away from us with his cape blowing in the wind (thanks to the help of some large fans). The figure turns around just at the 'Go Go Power Rangers' point and we see the Jade Guardian of Justice has returned. Scott Benjamin is handed a piece of paper.
Nick Webb: The BWF is saved!
Rayne: Oh grow up, Nick. This idiot again...and why is he weraing that stupid Power Ranger belt?
Scott Benjamin: 'Ladies and gentlemen, please join me in welcoming back, from the SpykeCave! in Angel Grove, California. He...believes....he is the Dragonzord Champion... he is the Jade Guardian of Justice......SPYYYYYYKEMAN!
Spykeman! jumps up on the apron and removes his cape before impressively frontflipping into the ring.
Spykeman! is given a microphone.
Spykeman!: Holy Censorship, folks! It seems this diabolical FCC is here to infringe on the rights of the citizens of the BWF! Mr. Goldstein I invite you to please listen to reason and hand over those notes before I am forced to take Superheroic action all over your face.
Not wanting to lose his job, Joshua rolls out of the ring quickly but Spykeman! just shakes his head and quickly does a springboard forearm smash to Joshua on the outside of the ring and the crowd pops HUGE. Spykeman! rolls Joshua back in the ring and as he waits for him to stand up, he mimes playing the Dragon Dagger and when Joshua gets to his feet, he is swiftly taken down with the Dragonzord Driver (Crucifix Driver) and Spykeman! quickly stands, grabs the clipboard, and tears up all the paper on it before posing with his hands on his hips to the cheers of the crowd.
Rayne: Ugh, I am already sick of this.
Nick Webb: You DO know he just made sure cleavage was still allowed on the air, right?
Rayne: SPYKEMAN! FOR LIFE! GET ME A SPYKEMAN! T-SHIRT, MASK, CAPE, AND ACTION FIGURE! I'M HIS NUMBER ONE FAN!
Spykeman! Leaves to his music, holding the Dragonzord title high.
The fans are on their feet to start the match as both men are introduced. Shelley and Maverick shared a few words back and forth and a quick fist bump as the bell sounded. The two competitors locked up and try to wrangle the other into a headlock but each keep slipping away. Maverick locked in a hammerlock but Shelley dropped to a knee and flipped him over with a snapmare. Shelley locked in a headlock from behind to the seated Maverick but Maverick rolled to his feet and into a headlock of his own. Shelley spins away and catches Maverick with an arm drag and locks in an arm lock and wrenches the arm of Maverick. Maverick flipped backwards to relieve pressure and gets to his feet and arm drags Shelley. Shelley popped up and dusts himself off as the fans cheer. The two men lock up again and Maverick quickly pulled Shelley close and sends a few knees to his gut. Maverick spun Shelley around and hit a German suplex and held on, delivering a second. Maverick finished up the Maverick Special (Two Rolling Germans Into Bridging Dragon Suplex) and got a two count.
Nick Webb: Great back and forth here early on between these two great competitors.
Rayne: J-Mav can strike at any time with any of his vicious strikes and end this thing.
Both men are back to their feet and Maverick is sent into the corner with a whip. Shelley delivered a few shots and then a hard knee to the gut as it caused Maverick to stagger forward. Shelley jumped to the second turnbuckle and as Maverick turns he dove to connect with a tornado DDT. Shelley rolled to his feet and met Maverick with a kick to the gut and pulled him in, following it with a Jersey Cutter (Twist of Fate) and rolled into a two count. Both men were back to their feet and Shelley kept the pressure on as he pulled Maverick down and looked for the Junk Yard Jam (Pedigree) but Maverick flipped him backwards. Shelley landed on his feet and hit the ropes and Maverick ducked a clothesline as he turned around. Shelley went off the ropes and was immediately rocked as he turned by a OF!MF! (Running Shotei). Maverick was feeling it and pulled Shelley up and locked him up. Maverick hit Shelley with the Perfecter Armbar (Butterfly Suplex into Cross Armbar). Shelley was in pain but refused to tap out. Maverick yelled at Shelley to tap but Shelley wiggled his way to the ropes and was able to just get his fingers around the bottom rope to break the hold. Maverick waited for Shelley to get up and wanted another Perfecter Armbar as Shelley held his arm close. Maverick set up the butterfly suplex but Shelley spun his body and broke the hold, popping up and hit the Fallout (Zig Zag) and hooked both legs to get a three count win.
WINNER: Gabe Shelley, via pinfall [11:21]
Nick Webb: And Gabe Shelley is moving on to Happenstance to take on Elena Simonova and the BWF World Champion.
Rayne: Yeah but what damage was done by that armbar? Hopefully for Gabe it’s just a sprain.
Shelley rolled to his knees and held his right arm close as the referee raised the other. Shelley patted Maverick on the shoulder as he sat up on his butt before rolling out of the ring. We cut to the backstage area and see Allen Chaney walking around near the stage entrance before cutting further down the hall where AJ Adams stretches out.
Nick Webb: Main event time, Rayne.
Rayne: AJ still has a chance to just forfeit the title to Allen.
Both men are introduced as the fans are more behind AJ Adams. Allen Chaney stared a hole through the champion as he made his way to the ring, standing pat. Adams poses with the BWF World Championship before the match is announced. The two men stood across from each other as Adams held the title up and says a few words to Chaney. He hands off the title to the referee who holds it high as it’s clearly the prize. The bell sounded and neither man moved an inch, each waiting for the other. Adams moved towards Chaney and Chaney erupted as he exploded out of his stance and hit a vicious clothesline. Chaney pulled Adams back up and started to whip him but pulled him back and clotheslined him again. Chaney didn’t let go of the champion’s arm and pulled him back up before taking him right back down with another clothesline. Chaney pulled Adams back up with his arm and lifted him to his shoulder before driving him back first into the corner. Chaney started to deliver multiple bionic elbows in the corner to Adams before flipping him backwards with a toss. The champion was reeling and Chaney jumped up, sitting on the top rope. Chaney jumped from the second turnbuckle as Adams stood but Adams caught him with the Last Call (Codebreaker)! Adams covered but was only to get a one and a half as Chaney kicked out just before two. Adams was struggling but started to mount some offense as he knew with Chaney down he had to keep him down.
Rayne: This is the only way you’re going to beat Chaney. Keep him down, attack quickly, don’t let him get his hands on you.
Nick Webb: AJ has a pinfall victory over Allen, don’t forget.
Adams pulled Chaney to his feet but Chaney delivered a Cactus Clothesline and both men went over the top rope. Chaney was to his feet first on the outside of the ring and jumped to the apron. Chaney ran along the apron and looked for a senton but Adams rolled out of the way and Chaney crashed and burned. Adams stomped on Chaney a few times before pulling him to his feet and rolling him into the ring, following suit. Adams pulled Chaney up and delivered a hard shot to the head that rocked him to a knee. Adams pulled Chaney up and tried to lift him to his shoulders, maybe for a GTS, but Chaney started to elbow Adams in the side of the head and fell to his feet. Chaney sets up for a gutwrench powerbomb and powerbombs Adams into the top turnbuckle as Adams falls in a heap to the mat. He sat against the turnbuckles and Chaney came running, flipped and went back first into Adams. Chaney pulled Adams to his feet and started to set up for the Set Up (Double Arm DDT) but Adams spun away. Adams delivered a kick to the gut of Chaney and looked for the Legacy Maker (Sister Abigail) but Chaney fought out and kicked Adams in the gut and hit the Set Up.
Nick Webb: That could be the beginning of the end!
Chaney climbs to the top rope and steadied himself before looking for the WTFFF (Moonsault) but Adams rolled out of the ring and Chaney went hard into the mat. Adams hurried and climbed to the top rope as Chaney rolled over and Adams came flying in with his 450 Splash and it connects. Adams covers but Chaney kicks out after two and the fans can’t believe it. Adams sits on his knees and then pulled himself up to his feet using the ropes and yelled at Chaney to get up. Chaney started to get up and Adams looked for the Eat It (Fame-Asser) but Chaney stood and rocked Adams with a vicious powerbomb. Chaney covered but Adams kicked out after the two count came down. The fans tried to get him back in the match as they cheered him on. Chaney pulled Adams to his feet but Adams started to fight back with shots to the gut. The two men exchanged hard lefts and rights as they each teetered and stumbled. Adams ducked a hard incoming blow and jumped on the back of Chaney and locked in the Lights Out (Tazzmission). Chaney fell to a knee but would not tap out but quickly started to fade. Webb pointed out this is what Adams did to Derrick Lenko a few weeks ago to retain his title. Chaney kept pushing the referee away but started to fade. The referee checked and lifted his arm once, twice, but Chaney refused to let it fall for the third time. Chaney pushed off to his feet and ran backwards, driving Adams back first again into the turnbuckle.
Nick Webb: Neither man wanting to stay down tonight.
Chaney used a few seconds to try to regain some of his energy as Adams looked on. Adams started to wildly punch Chaney and grabbed him, pulled him to his feet, and hit the Legacy Maker. He rolled Chaney into a cover but Chaney kicked out after two and Adams couldn’t believe it and argued with the referee. The fans chanted “one more time” to Adams as he started to pull Chaney to his feet. Chaney jumped up and hit a hard bionic elbow on Adams, then another, then another. Chaney lifted Adams up and dropped him with a sit down spinebuster. Chaney roared and pulled Adams to his feet and Rayne couldn’t believe where Chaney was getting this energy from. Both men were up and Chaney set Adams up for a suplex. Chaney lifted the champion and quickly lets go, falling to a knee, as Adams goes head and shoulder first into the knee of Chaney. Chaney lifted Adams up again and hit another Set Up. Adams was pulled to his feet and Chaney hit the Punchline (Package Piledriver). Chaney started to cover but decided to pull Adams to his feet again to deliver another Punchline and connected. Chaney pulled Adams back to his feet and hit a third Punchline.
Nick Webb: This is what Chaney did to David Slayton!
Rayne: I told you that Chaney was going to kill Adams!
Adams laid practically lifeless as Chaney leaned against the top ropes as Rayne and Webb were puzzled to what he was doing. Adams was on his face and started to try and lift himself, on his hands and knee. Chaney made a gun with his hand and “fired it” before hitting the Heckler Control (Curbstomp) on Adams. Chaney nonchalantly covered Adams and picked up the pinfall win.
WINNER AND NEW BWF WORLD CHAMPION: Allen Chaney, via pinfall [20:42]
Nick Webb: Allen Chaney has just become the BWF World Champion!
Rayne: AJ Adams hurt. THREE Punchlines AND the Heckler Control. Allen may have been sending a message when he did what he did to Slayton but he just doesn’t like AJ. This being for the championship was icing on the cake.
Allen Chaney is handed the BWF World Championship and hugs it close and watches AJ Adams laid out. He holds the title high as the fans sit in silence. The referee checks on Adams and Chaney pushes him away. He sets the title up under the face of Adams and lifts him up a little bit. He walks back and leans against the ropes again and taps his foot. Chaney points at Adams the crowd is buzzing.
Nick Webb: Don’t do this!
Rayne: He’s going to end him!
Before he can deliver another Heckler Control, Sabrina Scott rushes to the ring and slides in under the ropes and puts her hand on the back of Adams and pleads with Chaney not to do it. She folds her hands together and shakes her head a bunch and just asks Chaney to leave. Chaney walks over, grabs his title and turns away. He lets out a victory roar as he holds the title up, leaving the ring as Scott checks on Adams.
Nick Webb: AJ just dodged a bullet.
Rayne: But we have a new champion! The question is, will anyone be able to derail Allen Chaney?
Nick Webb: Well we know that on March 27th he’ll be defending that title against Elena Simonova and Gabe Shelley.
Rayne: Yeah but will that be enough? Chaney has been on an absolute tear lately.
Nick Webb: Thank you for joining us, folks. As always I’m Nick Webb and for my partner Rayne, we’ll see you next week!
Chaney stands at the top of the ramp, smiling, with the BWF World Championship over his shoulder.
© Blazenwing Wrestling Federation 2015
