Episode 189 - February 20, 2015
Nick Webb: Welcome to Havok 189! We’re one week away from Hearts on Fire and we’re in for a treat tonight as AJ Adams and Elena Simonova renew their rivalry as they go one on one in tonight’s main event.
Rayne: That’s right, Nick. Don’t forget about Allen Chaney looking to send one last message to AJ Adams going into their title bout as he takes on Gabe Shelley in, get this, a no holds barred match! Things don’t look too good for Gabe tonight as Chaney has tore through everything placed in front of him in recent weeks.
Nick Webb: Also on tap tonight it a tag team match that is bound to be full of tension as Fenryr Wulfsson and Van Biafra are being forced to team up to take on Jay Blazenwing and Sabrina Scott. In a match like that anything can happen!
Rayne: Except for Sabrina and Jay hooking up!
Quick Results:
Rune Sigidottir def. Karli Frost
Derrick Lenko def. Brian Camden, Roxxy Pitt, and Logan Havoc
Gabe Shelley def. Allen Chaney
Jay Blazenwing/Sabrina Scott def. Van Biafra/Fenryr Wulfsson
Elena Simonova def. AJ Adams
Rayne: Except for Sabrina and Jay hooking up!
Nick Webb: On that note, it’s time for our first match up and it has high stakes. If Karli Frost can pick up a victory it’s going to put her in line for Rune’s client’s Sovereign Championship as part of the stipulation that Rune herself set up.
Karli enters the arena, her entrance easily bringing the crowd to their feet. Once it was over, she sat on the top turnbuckle in her corner, waiting for her opponent. The noise in the arena falls to tolerable levels before Rune's entrance. Compared to Karli's high intensity, well choreographed sequence, there is nothing special here. No pyrotechnic display, no well timed light show. Just the song “Scarborough Fair” by Nox Arcana and a simple black and white image on the Blazentron of a raven sitting on the post of a barbed wire fence. Superimposed over the image is the word “RUNE”. She refuses to acknowledge any of the fans as she walked to the ring. Only the first and second verse of the song plays.
Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Yesterday holds memories in time —
Remember me to the one who lives there
She once was a true love of mine —
Tell her to think back upon younger days
Yesterday holds memories in time —
And seek yonder crossroads where we parted ways
Then she'll be a true love of mine —
Rune climbs into the ring and, in what can only be described as a rare show of sportsmanship, Rune walks up to Karli and shakes her hand before the bell.
Nick Webb: Did I just see what I think I saw?
Rayne: Maybe. And to think that there are people out here that think Rune isn't trustworthy. How can someone so pretty not be respectable? Makes me sick.
Webb: A lot of these fans have seen some of the things that Rune and Fenryr have done since they've been here. It's a fair judgement, Rayne.
The bell rings and the two women locked up. It seemed an even match, though Karli was proven to be the stronger of the two. There were a few momentum shifts, culminating at a point where Rune was down and was slow to gain her feet. Karli was waiting for her on the top turnbuckle and tried for the AMRAAM (Missile dropkick from top rope) but Rune dropped and rolled forward. Karli hit the mat hard. Rune stood behind Karli, stalking her, and when she was up and turned around, Rune closed the distance immediately and attacked with the Gleipnir (Ambush Clothesline).
Nick Webb: Oh! That clothesline will wake you up in the morning.
Rayne: Or put you to sleep at night! It looks like the Shewolf might be through with the game. Atta girl, Rune!
Nick Webb:It’s no wonder you have so many divorces. You can’t stay faithful to one woman for more than ten minutes.
Rayne: I’m not listening to you.
Karli was down, but Rune picked her up and Irish Whipped her to the corner. Rune executed her Flipside (Cartwheel to back handspring to flying back elbow smash in the corner) on Karli and stepped to the side as Karli fell to her knees and then her stomach. Rune rolled her over and covered for the win.
WINNER:Rune Sigidottir. via pinfall 7:13
The referee tried to raise Rune’s hand, but she glared at him and he took a few steps back.
Rayne: This is the Rune I was missing! Remember Jenni Flynt!
Nick Webb What is this woman doing now?
Rune knelt next to Karli, who had started to stir. She was saying something in a low voice. Suddenly she grabbed Karli by the hair and started pummeling her! Karli tried to escape but Rune was relentless. The official pulled Rune off of her, but she kicked Karli in the face as she was being pulled away. Karli, stunned, sat in the corner. The official pulled Rune to the opposite side of the ring and forced her out. Rune slowly walked to the back, her eyes locked on Karli's as the newcomer checked her lip for blood.
Nick Webb: I don't know what we just witnessed here…
Rayne: Well, I'll tell you. We just witnessed Rune kick Karli's ass after the match was over.
Nick Webb: But why? That's the question.
Rayne: I have another question. Where's Jimmy Hoffa? It's Rune, Webb. That's the only answer that's going to make any sense.
As soon as the bell sounded Park and Camden started to tear into each other and the crowd eats it up as they go left, right, left, right, left, right hands before they spill out of the ring. Havoc and Lenko lock up and exchange hammerlocks. Webb points out Lenko looking pretty good against AJ Adams last week as he started to gain the upper hand. Lenko connected with a few takedowns but Havoc started to fight back with hard spinning strikes of elbows and forearms. Havoc connected with back drop on Lenko and quickly had to deal with Camden who had made his way back into the ring. Camden hit a few snap suplexs and was attacked from behind by Pitt. Pitt sent him shoulder first into the corner and then hit him with a facebuster as he stumbled out from the corner. Pitt turned around and was hit with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Lenko jumped back into the ring and springboarded onto Havoc and hit a tornado DDT. Lenko started clapping and dancing around the ring and the fans ate it up. Lenko hit a jumping heel kick on Camden. Havoc hit a spinbuster on Lenko. Camden hit a running knee to the gut of Havoc. Pitt speared Camden and they once again were on the outside of the ring and near the ramp. Havoc hit a spike DDT on Lenko and called for the end. He went for the Disaster Stroke (Clothesline from Hell) but Lenko ducked and hit the Lenko’s Extremely Nice Knock Out (Jumping High Knee) and covered for the win.
WINNER: Derrick Lenko, via pinfall 10:17
Rayne couldn’t believe it and Lenko jumped up and out of the ring as Havoc grabbed for Lenko but missed. Brianna Park came running to the ramp and started to attack Camden and Hardcore Mike wasn’t far behind to make the save. Park, Camden, Mike, and Pitt fought into the crowd and into one of the hallways and off camera.
Burgers and Babes
Karli Frost sits in a room in the back, staring at the ceiling and pinching her nose. The door opens and Will Irwin peeks in.
Will Irwin: Everything okay? How was your match, Karli?
Karli Frost: Not good. I lost.
Will Irwin: Oh. I'm...sorry. Look, Karli. I meant to tell you this earlier but I didn't have time. That woman. Rune. She didn't interrupt our interview on a whim. She doesn't do anything without a purpose...she's dangerous.
Karli Frost: I know.
Will Irwin: No. You don't. You can't. I'm not talking about wrestling. I'm talking about...just her. McMichael has been looking into her and Fenryr since Retribution. Finding information on Fenryr is easy, just follow the trail of bodies. Rune? Nothing. She's a ghost. They've been partners in this business for some time, but there is nothing that even points to her being a real person. McMichael is the best there is, and if he hasn't found anything on her, it doesn't exist. I'm just saying, Karli, watch your back around her. Smart, evil, and unpredictable is never a good combination.
Karli nods towards Will, pinching her nose again and affecting her speech.
Karli Frost: Thanks. I...hold on. Is that White Castle?
Will Irwin: Yeah. Picked up a couple before I got here.
Karli Frost: I haven't had any of those in years. I think I'd kill a man for one.
Will Irwin: It's hardly worth all of that.
Karli stands up and kisses Will forcefully. He looks surprised for a moment when she pulls away. She just looks up at him, a small smile on her face.
Will Irwin: Um...there's two in there.
Karli Frost: Fair enough.
She kisses him again, taking the bag and gently pushing a dazed Will out the door. She smiles at him, tilting her head to the side.
Karli Frost: Did you think I said "kill"? Sorry. Must have been my bloody nose. Thanks, uh...
Will Irwin: Will. My name is Will.
Karli Frost: Thanks Will.
Karli closes the door.
Will walks away, but his parting statement could still be heard.
Will Irwin: I need more of those burgers. A lot more...
Rayne: What was that!? How!? WILL!?
The (Chris) Maverick Era
As Havok returns from commercial, we see Logan Havoc walking backstage, cursing himself out after yet another close loss. He shakes his head in disgust as he turns the corner and finds himself face to face with friend/occasional enemy Chris Maverick. Chris begins to brag about his "big win" over Akemi earlier tonight on Breakthrough, and claims that tonight is just the beginning of "the Chris Maverick era". He slaps Logan on the shoulder and says "Don't worry, buddy... I'm sure I can find a place for you in my empire somewhere. I mean, someone's gotta serve me drinks, right?" Logan looks Chris up and down, and finally just grabs him and throws him into the wall before laying into him hardcore style. The fans in Chicago cheer as Logan continues beating on Chris until officials appear to pull both men apart.
Rayne: What was that all about?
Nick Webb: I think Logan Havoc has had enough, Rayne!
Rayne: I don't see why that was necessary, though. I'd be honored to serve C-Mav drinks!

Rayne: That’s provided that Allen can catch AJ without dying of a coronary! HA!

Blazenwing and Scott seem to be on the same page and even share a high five as the match starts as Fenryr and Biafra argue who is going to start. Biafra starts the match as Blazenwing starts for his crew. The match starts and Biafra takes his anger out on Blazenwing as he attacks with quick elbows. Webb hypes the main event as Adams and Simonova share words before the match started. The two competitors start the match off with some mat based wrestling with them each exchanging various holds and arm wrenches. Adams gains the upper hand after having ducked an incoming elbow and was able to back drop Elena. Adams focused on the shoulder of his opponent as she seemed to favor it coming down. Adams was relentless throwing stomps on it and arm drags. Adams sent Elena into the corner and ate a boot to the face as he approached. Elena hit a running axe handle and finished off the Hammer and Sickle (Running axe handle followed by buzzsaw kick). Elena went for a cover and only got two. Adams shook off the cobwebs as Elena was climbing to the top rope. Elena looked for the KGB (Top rope splash into dragonrana pin) but got hit with the Last Call (Codebreaker) on her way down. Elena’s foot connected with the jaw of the referee and he fell to the mat. Adams hit a GTS and fell to a knee. He begged Elena to stand as he called for the Legacy Maker (Sister Abigail). Fenryr walked to Biafra and slapped him in the face as the fans “oooh’ed” and Biafra was ready to explode as Fenryr rolled out of the ring to talk to Rune. Biafra jumped down and started to argue with Fenryr and the referee started his count. Biafra finalled got back in the ring and Scott took advantage. Scott hit the Seeing Stars (Springboard Colliding Headbutt) and both competitors fell to a knee. Scott came too a little faster and looked for a crossbody but was caught and hit with a powerslam. Biafra clinched his fist as Scott got up and hit the Quickiller (Spinning Backfist) but needed to tag out as the match was taking its toll. Fenryr was calling for the tag but Biafra blew him off and kept the attack on Scott. Fenryr climbed into the ring and spun Biafra around before dropping him with a kick to the gut and the Hel Road (Double Underhook Powerbomb). Fenryr rolled out of the ring as Rune followed suit carrying the Sovereign Championship. Scott tagged in Blazenwing and he came flying into the ring with the Flight of the Phoenix (Top Rope Double Stomp) and picked up the pinfall.
WINNER: Jay Blazenwing and Sabrina Scott, via pinfall 11:41
Scott and Blazenwing high five again and celebrate the win and Rayne points out that it’s still weird.
Adams crawled into a cover but Elena kicked out at two. The fans were loving the action as both started to reach their feet and battle. Adams tried to keep the match slow and pinpoint his shots but Elena tried to hit quick blows and back away. Adams fought out of Elena trying to set up for the Vodka Tonic (Canadian Destroyer) and hit a backdrop. Adams went to lift Elena up to his shoulders and spun her around in the process. Elena’s foot connected with the jaw of the referee and he fell to the mat. Adams hit a GTS and fell to a knee. He begged Elena to stand as he called for the Legacy Maker (Sister Abigail). Allen Chaney came out of nowhere and hit the Heckler Control (Curbstomp) and the crowd booed. Chaney nudged both the referee and Elena with his foot as she crawled over to the downed champion. The referee made the count and and Elena secured the pinfall.
WINNER: Elena Simonova, via pinfall 12:38
Chaney slid back into the ring and lifted Elena up and tossed her through the ropes as she fell to the mat and the referee was next. Chaney knelt beside Adams and started to beat down the champion. Chaney popped up and begged Adams to get up. Adams got to his feet as blood came from his mouth from a busted lip. Adams speared Chaney into the corner and was hit with blows to the sides before taking a knee to the gut and spun into the corner. Chaney drove his shoulder into Adams’ gut and backed up for a hard charge but took a boot to the face. Adams and Chaney wrestled to the mat and exchanged hard shots as the trainers and a few wrestlers came out to break up the action. Webb and Rayne pointed out the crowd wanting them to fight and tension being high going into Hearts on Fire as we go off air with Chaney and Adams trying to get at each other.
