Episode 186 - January 23, 2015
Nick Webb: Welcome to an all-new episode of Friday Night Havok! We're just one week away from Survival of the Sickest on pay-per-view, and we've got a hell of a show to get through before we worry about making our way to Buffalo, Rayne.
Rayne: As always, you're right about this one thing, Nick. We have Derrick Lenko making his BWF debut, Allen Chaney attempting not to embarrass himself against Omen IV, Static Age making their in-ring debuts for a shot at the Justicars, plus the World Champions in the main event as Elena Simonova and Zoe Cooper reunite to face Johnny Maverick and Gabe Shelley!
Nick Webb: And not to mention... hang on, what's this?
Hell Hath No Fury Like Rune
Rune strides purposefully down the ramp towards the ring. She's dressed differently from normal, wearing a loose fitting pink jumpsuit with pink and black tennis shoes instead of the short dresses she's known for. She walks around the ring to the announcers' table and takes a microphone, before climbing the steps and into the ring. Standing in the ring is Jenni Flynt, waiting to officiate the first match of the evening.
Rune Sigidottir: Jenni, Jenni, Jenni. Nice shirt. I'm not trying to cause any trouble and I don't mean to hold up progress for tonight's event, but since you were the referee for the Sovereign Championship match at WrestleFest, I do have some questions. I feel that since we're both women we can talk about this. I don't deal with those brutes backstage since I was attacked by the truck driver after Retribution."
Jenni takes the microphone from Scott Benjamin.
Jenni Flynt: Okay. Make it quick Rune, these people are waiting.
Rune Sigidottir: Hmmph. Yes. I just really want to know how you sleep at night after helping Van win the title at WrestleFest?
Jenni looks offended at Rune's implications of cheating, and regards her with an incredulous expression.
Rune Sigidottir: We'll get back to that. I saw the video. Everyone with functioning eyeballs saw Fenryr lay Chris Maverick flat out with the Oathbreaker. So my first question is how does Van win when Fenryr is the one that knocked Chris out?
Jenni Flynt: First of all, Rune, I don't appreciate my integrity being called into question. Second, it was a "Six Pack Challenge Match", which means anyone could pin anyone else to win. Six competitors...one fall...one winner...ring a bell, Rune? You're supposed to be a wrestling manager. It seems you don't even know the rules. And for the record, Fenryr didn't go for the pin right away. Jay Blazenwing attacked him to keep it from happening and Van Biafra took advantage and scored the pin on Chris. Thus, a new Sovereign Champion.
Rune Sigidottir: Which brings me to my next question. Why didn't you disqualify Van when Jay interfered in the match?
Jenni Flynt: Jay was in the match, Rune! He's allowed to wrestle if he's in the match!
The two women stare each other down for a moment.
Jenni Flynt: Look, Rune, far be it from me to take sides in any match, but handing Van Biafra that title made me happier than a lot of things since you and your vicious beast arrived here. He didn't deserve that belt. Fenryr didn't deserve the shot, if you want to call it that. It's not just me that knows it, Rune. He knows it, everyone in the BWF knows it...you know it, too, even though you deny it. All of these fans know it...
When Jenni turns to the fans as they roar in approval, Rune unleashes a fast, brutal Superkick into Jenni's mouth. Jenni is out. She is not moving. The fans, cheering loudly a moment before erupt in a chorus of boos and jeers. Rune smirks, shaking her head as she looks down at the fallen official. She looks around at the fans and starts laughing.
Rune Sigidottir: Oh, Jenni. You just talk too much. But I guess I have my answer to the first question about how you sleep at night. On your back and quite well, it seems.
Rune drops onto Jenni, straddling her hips.
Rune Sigidottir: Okay, I'm sorry Jenni. Wake up.
Rune takes Jenni's face in her hand and shakes her head gently, as if trying to rouse her from slumber.
Rune Sigidottir: Wake up, Sleeping Beauty.
Rune leans down and kisses Jenni forcefully on the lips. Still, Jenni lies there unconscious. Rune stands up and holds her arms at her sides for a moment, basking in the disapproval of the fans before speaking again.
Rune Sigidottir: Sorry, everyone! It always worked in the movies!
Rune dives under the ropes and circles the ring to escape when people run out from backstage to check on Jenni.
Derrick Lenko makes his long-awaited BWF debut as he takes on former International Champion Chris Maverick in a hot opening match. Chris spends most of the match dominant, though a miscalculation at the end leaves him in the cold, as Chris goes for the Hook and Ladder (Elevated Double Chickenwing Wheelbarrow Facebuster), but Derrick rolls into the move as Chris drops him, turning the slam into a roll-up that sees Derrick score the three and the win over his tenured foe!
WINNER: Derrick Lenko, via Pinfall [6:12]
Derrick rolls out of the ring as his music plays and jumps into the crowd, celebrating the win as Chris argues with the ref, swearing up and down that that wasn't a three count.
Rayne: C'mon ref, do your damn job!
Nick Webb: He did! What a counter from the newcomer... welcome to BWF, Mr. Lenko!
Elise Wyatt on Survival of the Sickest
The camera moves backstage, where we find one of the Co-Directors of Operation, Elise Wyatt, standing by with Don McMichael. Elise tells the crowd that Jackson is in a meeting with a member of the EWS Board of Directors this very moment and hopes to have an exclusive announcement for the crowd later tonight. In the meantime, she's taken it upon herself to deal with the Sovereign Title and all involved.
At Survival of the Sickest, Fenryr Wulfsson will, in fact, be granted his rematch for the title against Van Biafra in a one on one contest. In addition, given the history between the two men, this wouldn't just be an ordinary title defense - it would be a First Blood Match (huge pop). Finally, Rune Sigidottir and Ellis Straker, the managers of Fenryr and Van respectively, would be allowed at ringside for this match.
Nick Webb: After how this broadcast opened, that's gotta be a controversial decision.
And speaking of Rune, on behalf of the EWS, following her actions this evening, she will be fined $25,000 for attacking a BWF official. If it happens again, more serious action will be taken against the lovely young manager, regardless of her affiliation with Fenryr.
Following weeks of hounding the Tag Team Champions, Kara Scene and Leland Morgan of Static Age find themselves debuting in a match that could change the course of the tag team scene in BWF, as they face Hardcore Mike and Stone of The Ultimates to determine the challengers for the Justicars of Illium at Survival of the Sickest. As Alison and Destiny watch on via a monitor backstage, the newcomers systematically wear down The Ultimates, as they cordon Stone off from his corner, refusing to allow him to tag out. After Hardcore Mike has enough, he tries to get involved, only to receive a superkick from Kara for his trouble. With Stone redlining and Mike down and out on the apron, Static Age finishes off their opponent with a Never You Mind (Meltzer Driver; Morgan on the tombstone, Scene on the springboard 450) for the pinfall and the win.
WINNERS: Static Age, via Pinfall [8:44]
"Swerve City" by The Deftones plays as Kara and Leland stand triumphant, motioning for gold. Backstage, Destiny and Alison look at one another; whether their faces are displaying concern or pleasure is not immediately apparent.
Nick Webb: The members of Static Age have been plaguing the Justicars since WrestleFest - and in a week's time in Buffalo, they'll get the opportunity they seek!
Rayne: We're gonna see new Tag Team Champions, Nick! I can feel it!
Nick Webb: Static Age put on a hell of a performance tonight, but they'd better be prepared to double that if they hope to unseat the longest reigning Tag Champs in BWF history at Survival of the Sickest!
#BubblePop
We join International Champion Sabrina Scott backstage, who is almost more excited to see Will Irwin than Will is to see her! Sabrina talks about her journey to the ring, how it suffered multiple setbacks in 2014 with several notable companies closing after she signed with them, and how she feels that BWF is where she belongs. She holds up the International Title and tells Will that this is all the proof she needs to know that she made the right decision to sign with BWF.
A voice off-screen says "I sure hope you still feel that way when you don't have that belt anymore, little lady." Austin Scott walks into frame and looks Sabrina up and down, and then offers to shake her hand. Before the handshake breaks, Austin tells Sabrina that she only won the title at WrestleFest because Alex Richards didn't tap out half a second sooner. Now, there's no Alex Richards, no Mike Mox and no Jonathan Cage - just two Scotts, an International Championship and an undetermined winner between the two. Austin officially challenges Sabrina to a title match at Survival of the Sickest and Sabrina agrees.
Nick Webb: Looks like we've got ourselves a match!
Austin finally breaks the handshake as Sabrina says "May the best Scott win!" Austin smirks, says "Don't worry yer pretty little head, darlin'. I will." He tips his cowboy hat and walks off, leaving Sabrina to watch him go as the scene fades to commercial.
These two are no strangers to one another, but tonight, the rivalry between Blazenwing and Havoc amped up to another level. These two put on a clinic, prompting the crowd to chant "this is awesome" even as Jay and Logan exchange signature moves, near falls and momentum. The end of the contest comes when both Jay and Logan come off the ropes, meet in the center of the ring and throw their elbow finishers simultaneously - Logan with the Rolling Elbow and Jay with the Blazenwing (Running Discus Elbow). Both men hit the other square across the jaw and go down hard. The ref starts the count and neither man is moving. Logan starts to stir as the ref nears ten, but he isn't able to pull himself up in time and drops back to the mat as the ref reaches ten and calls for the bell.
WINNER: None (Double Knockout) [19:45]
Even with no winner, the crowd can't help but give these two a standing ovation - not that they're awake to receive it.
Nick Webb: What a match! These two men left everything in the ring... and dare I say they were evenly matched out there!
Rayne: Why would the ref end the match? Jesus, just let them go til we get a winner! Maybe roll Logan on top of Jay and count! Anything!
Nick Webb: After this match, I doubt we've seen the last of these two facing one another.
Coming Soon on Pay-Per-View

Fresh off of the momentum he gained from winning last week's battle royal, Allen walked into the Allstate Arena prepared to send a message to all of his Elimination Chamber opponents ahead of their historic clash at Survival of the Sickest. With this in mind, the match was already a difficult climb for the skilled, popular (and lecherous) Omen IV, but add in that he eliminated Allen back in November's Gauntlet Run Match and you have all the reason in the world to fear for Omen's health as the bell rang. The luchador put up one hell of an effort, even nearly catching Allen with a victory roll for a razor thin two count, but all this did was anger The Comedian. Soon, Allen's full strength was coming down on Omen, as he rained down punishment on the masked superstar. By the time Allen put Omen down with The Set-Up (Double Arm DDT) and THE PUNCHLINE (Package Piledriver), the deflated crowd (who were pulling for the underdog) sat in silence as Allen got the 1, 2, 3.
WINNER: Allen Chaney, via Pinfall [7:11]
"Shimmy Shimmy Ya" by Ol' Dirty Bastard starts playing as Allen stands up and kicks Omen out of the ring. He stands in the center of the ring, flipping off the Chi-Town crowd and motioning for gold as the Chicago crowd relentlessly boos The Comedian. Of course, this just makes Allen smile.
Nick Webb: Allen Chaney is a changed man as of late. Anybody who follows him on Twitter knows all about his break-up with his unfaithful girlfriend, which has only made a dangerous beast even more so. Allen has nothing to lose and everything to gain going into the Elimination Chamber.
Rayne: He dominated Omen tonight, sure. Let's talk when he manhandles AJ Adams like that.
Jackson Wyatt on Survival of the Sickest
As promised, we head backstage to the office of the Wyatts, where Jackson Wyatt is standing by with a huge smile on his face, his wife Elise standing next to him. Jackson reveals to the BWF fans that the meeting he just got out of was to determine who would be challenging for the EWS World Juniorweight Championship at Survival of the Sickest!
Nick Webb: What? An EWS title being defended on BWF pay-per-view? That's awesome!
After some deliberation (and discussion with Elise), the couple decided that the shot would be going to a man who just re-signed a new BWF contract... Percy Jacobson! He will be facing EWS World Juniorweight Champion Richie Valiant in one week in Buffalo. But, that's not all! After catching the end of Blazenwing vs. Havoc from earlier, Jackson had a killer idea and Elise quickly agreed. At Survival of the Sickest, Buffalo will witness the first-ever Survival of the Sickest Elimination Tag Team Match! Two teams of five will face off, and the winning team will receive a reward to be determined later.
Rayne: Sounds like a real 'Survivor Series'! HA!
Nick Webb: Oh, great, get us sued. Awesome.
As for the two teams that would be competing... we will officially see Team Blazenwing, comprised of Jay Blazenwing, Akemi Hayashi, Kristy Jackson, Omen IV and Derrick Lenko, face off against Team Havoc, comprised of Logan Havoc, Casey Campbell, Chris Maverick, Hardcore Mike and Stone. The fans seem pleased with the announcement as Havok fades to its final commercial break of the evening.
It's an Elimination Chamber preview main event, as BWF World Champion Elena Simonova reunites with former Tag Team Champion partner Zoe Cooper to face Crisis World Champion Johnny Maverick and The marVel Gabe Shelley! Elena and Johnny kick things off, prompting an excellent Champion vs. Champion showdown that shows that Johnny's gained a step or two since these two faced off for the Crisis World Title back in 2013. Eventually, Elena tags out to Zoe, while Johnny tags out to Gabe before she can gain any serious momentum for their team.
Nick Webb: Here we go, this should be an interesting showdown. Gabe Shelley is still the only person in BWF history to pin Zoe Cooper clean with no interference or shenanigans!
Rayne: C'mon, Emily Corlen did it at Gauntlet Run!
Nick Webb: ...really? Really?
Gabe begins to overpower Zoe, so she tags out to Elena, who regains momentum and finally gets things swinging in the ladies' direction. Gabe tags out to Johnny again, who picks up the action against Elena, hitting his Tony Jaa (Muay Thai Jumping Knee Strike to the Opponent's Face or Throat)... on the referee after Elena ducks! Gabe and Zoe join in the brawl with no ref to stop them and soon, all four individuals are going to town on one another. They don't seem to notice when AJ Adams slides into the ring from out of nowhere and grabs Gabe, catching him from behind with the Last Call (Codebreaker)! AJ then goes after anybody he can hit, interjecting himself between Johnny, Zoe and Elena. Zoe goes for the flying knee on AJ, but he moves out of the way and she clocks Johnny right between the eyes!
Nick Webb: This is pandemonium out here! And we still don't have a referee!
Zoe checks on Johnny as Elena and AJ brawl, and none of the three see Allen Chaney hit the ring and catch Zoe with a clothesline from hell! Elena finally hits AJ with the Reverse Psychology (C4), but doesn't know Allen is in the ring! She turns around... and walks right into a big boot, followed by a WTFFFF! [Watch that Funny Fat Fuck Fly!] (Moonsault) As Elena rolls out of the ring, Allen starts to pose, the last man standing, but notices AJ struggling to get to his knees!
Nick Webb: I don't like the look in Allen's eyes, Rayne!
Rayne: He's looking at AJ like he's a chicken leg! HA!
Perhaps somewhat fueled by the recent exchanges between AJ and Sabrina Scott via Twitter, Allen runs to the ropes, charges and AJ and jumps, coming down hard on the back of AJ's head with the Heckler Control (Rare; a curb stomp to the back of the head. Allen saves this for people he reeeeeeeally doesn't like.)! The crowd boos loudly (even though they don't like Adams all that much) as Allen grabs the BWF and Crisis World Titles, then holds them up in the air.
Nick Webb: We could be looking at the future right now, Rayne.
Rayne: Don't even joke about that! Good god!
Nick Webb: Folks, we're just about out of time here tonight -
Rayne: What about the end of the match?
Nick Webb: Look around. This match is over whether we like it or not.
Rayne: Aww.
Nick Webb: I have a strong feeling these six individuals will be raring to kill one another once the Chamber descends next week. Whatever you do, do NOT miss Survival of the Sickest! It's going to be a night to remember, folks! Good night from Chicago! We'll see you in Buffalo!
We see one final shot of Allen holding up the World Titles, daring anyone to try and take them, before the show fades to the BWF logo, and then finally to black.
